Tasted by Daley Cellars on 9/1/2021 & rated 93 points: Still holding on! A little bit of fruit and plenty of tannins. No Brown edges. Wish I had more! (936 views)
Tasted by Daley Cellars on 9/1/2021 & rated 93 points: Is still tight and holding on strong. No Brown edges still a bit of fruit and lots of tannins! Wish I had more! (903 views)
Tasted by VinoHunter on 12/25/2017 & rated 90 points: Decanted for a about an hour. Nice Napa Cab. Not going to blow you away, but for a 10 year old $15 bottle of wine it was very good. (2123 views)
Tasted by ruppdavey@yahoo.com on 1/19/2017 & rated 91 points: - Crimsom color and aromas of blackberry. It's balanced and has flavours of black currant, cedar and dusty with a medium/full body. Round texture with a medium finish - Wow great PQR and still has lots of life. (2339 views)
Tasted by RayT on 9/23/2016 & rated 90 points: .Decanted for 30 minutes. Could use an hour or two. Nice bouquet and tasted as good. Surprised in a good way, although hard to find a bad 2007! (2700 views)
Tasted by redz on 8/23/2015 & rated 91 points: drinking beautifully, full bodied, 2 hour decant about right, has more time (2591 views)
Tasted by jayrod on 7/18/2015 & rated 90 points: Alas my last bottle, wish I had a couple more. Still a great bang for the buck and drinking wonderfully. Sometime I think we overlook wines like this and we are surprised when short term cellering yields a very nice wine.

Notes are consistent.

Also keep in mind that I cannot afford what many here drink so I have a limited range of experiences. (2603 views)
Tasted by StraightnoChaser on 5/20/2015 & rated 88 points: Purchased 4 and tucked away for a few years, this was the last one opened. Probably an 89 when I last drank it 2 years ago, it seems to have lost some vibrancy and feels like it is slipping away
Comparable to the 2007 Avalon Napa Cab as both score high for fruit and tannins but are still simple, everyday cabs (1936 views)
Tasted by jayrod on 2/28/2015 & rated 90 points: Similar to last notes. I can't get over how this bottle has transformed over the last few years. It is drinking well now but has some life left to it. (1701 views)
Tasted by jayrod on 6/28/2014 & rated 90 points: This has turned out to be a great value. Loads of dark fruit surrounded by silky tannins. This wine still has some life but is drinking well now. Served with beef tenderloin w/ mushrooms and garlic, blue cheese mac and fresh green beans........was good match. (2075 views)
Tasted by SMagowan on 6/16/2013 & rated 88 points: This is a nice QPR with a traditional California fruity taste that goes well with grilled steak and grilled vegetables and that does not break the bank. This wine's biggest problem is that it has brothers and sisters in the BV stable of wine that are much better and so suffers from comparison. It has a very fruit forward taste of cherry, some blueberry, raspberry jam and sugars without much oak. It drinks like you are having a pleasant conversation with someone on longish plane ride and you're glad to have the conversation, but this person will not become a lifelong friend. You are glad you have the experience, because it is positive, but when you get home you will not necessarily mention the nice conversation to your spouse. To the same extent, I am happy to have this easy drinking CS in my cellar because I can pull it out with confidence that it will work "well enough," however, I will not call my wine friends and say "you need to have this in your cellar." Rather, if one of them said, what do you think is a good cellar defender CS at a good price, I would mention my experience with this BV entry level CS circa 2007. (2540 views)
Tasted by BrunelloBob on 6/9/2013 & rated 87 points: Pleasantly surprised. I did not like this wine at all when it was younger; a couple of years on its side did it some good. Dark fruit, cedar. Straightforward, but that's what I expect at this price. (2403 views)
Tasted by christophee on 1/18/2013 & rated 80 points: Garnet with medium viscosity in the glass. Dark fruit, oak, strawberry Jolly Rancher and cedar on the nose. Medium body with dark fruit, toasted oak and a touch of green on the palate. Medium finish. Decent balance, but just another simple and uninspired market wine. (2661 views)
Tasted by DrT999 on 1/1/2013 & rated 88 points: Very nice structure, this could age a while longer. While there is solid dark fruit throughout and a pleasant finish, it's not a very long finish. Altogether, a solid if young middle-of-the-road cab (2928 views)
Tasted by Johnfcaron on 10/29/2012 & rated 88 points: Smooth and full of flavor - perfect match for our spaghetti and meatballs! (1624 views)
Tasted by Johnfcaron on 10/28/2012: With grandma (1421 views)
Tasted by FlyinI on 7/19/2012 & rated 90 points: simple cab with ripe, sweet fruit, well balanced, good structure, not much on the nose. drinking very easily now. Better after some air (1677 views)
Tasted by MicklethePickle on 12/27/2011 & rated 87 points: Bright, clear, clean, medium purple-garnet. Some tears stain the glass. Fairly simple, straightforward fruit in the nose: light raspberry, plum and a bit of spice. A bit candy-like. In the mouth, supple, lush and fleshy, with decent grip. Flavors of jam and slightly chewy, bitter fruit. A little oaky. Overall, a straightforward fleshy wine with decent fruit. Good structure and balance. Nothing to write home about, but quite a value at $12--especially for a Napa cab from a winery like BV.
4-11-15-7: 87/100. (3585 views)
Tasted by ardria on 12/24/2011 & rated 87 points: Christmas eve and a couple nights later. Consistent with the last bottle -not offensive but not really good - inexpensive Napa Cab (2828 views)
Tasted by wmccone54 on 11/12/2011 & rated 88 points: Always consistent with a core of black currant and dark cherries. Good tannic structure, that makes the wine approachable young, culminating with a solid finish. One of my favorite everyday drinkers! (3332 views)
Tasted by Pgandra on 10/16/2011 & rated 88 points: Solid, RA likes more than PG. Tastes better at finish than start (to RA). (2159 views)
Tasted by The Wine Sherpa on 9/4/2011 & rated 84 points: Very disappointing. (3089 views)
Tasted by PiAJ on 8/6/2011 & rated 85 points: Good, but not for the price (3226 views)
Tasted by Kirk Grant on 7/23/2011 & rated 87 points: I have to say I was actually impressed by this. It's typical in style for the region, medium bodied, medium fruit, a presence of oak without it being overbearing...the only thing holding this back was the short finish. (3429 views)
Tasted by CarlCP on 7/22/2011 & rated 86 points: Nose is more berry and oak while the taste is plum or tart and very dry and yet smooth. lingering berry. Very nice sipping and especially good with food. Had with grilled chicken breasts and rice. pared nicely. (2964 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
