Tasted by EJDALEwine on 4/26/2021 & rated 88 points: Very good, but at $50 a bit too much. Other wines from Hartford are better. (287 views)
Tasted by Jmac56 on 2/28/2016 & rated 89 points: Very drinkable but a bit too sweet. (1226 views)
Tasted by matt182 on 7/1/2015 & rated 89 points: Ready to drink, no need to hold, light on it's feet for a zin, alcohol spiking a bit, but it's a zin after all, still black fruits with prunes and blackberries, a lot of minerals. Not the longest, but enjoyable. (1451 views)
Tasted by Joegish on 2/5/2013 & rated 91 points: Jammy with restraint, peppery, but not over the top. Kind of a Zinfandel with finesse. Nice fruit, but a little subdued. I like it. Probably a bit pricey for a zin these days... Little bit of funk on the nose. (2460 views)
Tasted by MichielV on 12/9/2012 & rated 90 points: With superb lasagna after xmas set up. Big on alcohol but this is classic Zin. Decanted 1 hr. Very good food wine combination. Nice dark berry color, spicy on the nose, but good start on palate. Good spice and fruit combination. Nice finish. Reminds me of how zin used to be 15 yrs ago. (2348 views)
Tasted by Lord of the Bottles on 1/29/2012 & rated 86 points: Jammy nose, restrained taste. Not much complexity, if pleasant to drink. I've had better Zin. (2573 views)
Tasted by Annie1 on 3/9/2011 & rated 80 points: Very disappointing. Nose of coffee and some fruit but extremely tight even after decanting. Some cherries on palate but hot alcohol finish. Kept hoping it would get better...did a little but not enough. Unacceptable QPR. (1856 views)

2008 Hartford / Hartford Court Zinfandel Jolene's Vineyard

Winemaker's Notes: This old-vine Zinfandel provides alluring aromas and flavors of ripe black cherries, blackberry and vanilla. Jolene’s texture is rich and mouth-filling with supple tannins and a long and lingering finish.
Vineyard Character Jolene’s Vineyard, located along Olivet Road in the Russian River Valley, takes its name from a merging of the first names of its owners– Joanne and Arlene. The vineyard is surrounded by several other old-vine Zinfandel Vineyards. The character of the Jolene’s old- vine Vineyard is unique from most other old vine Zinfandel vineyards in the Russian River area in that it is planted entirely to Zinfandel. Jolene’s Vineyard character is reflected in its classic berry, cherry and brandy notes for which Old Vine Zinfandel is renowned. Most old-vine Zinfandel vineyards in the area are ‘field’ or ‘spice’ blends that also include very small plantings of Petite Sirah, Alicante Bouchet and Carignan.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
