Background

Rudd is owned by Leslie Rudd, an entrepreneur who also owns the Dean & DeLuca gourmet food shops. The winery and vineyards are located at the northwest corner of the intersection of the Oakville Cross and Silverado Trail in Napa Valley California. More information is available in the Rudd article in the full wiki.

Rudd produces a variety of wines, many sourced from their vineyards in Oakville Californina.

Leslie Rudd purchased the property in 1996. Prior to that purchase, the site was the location of Girard winery. Rudd replanted the vines at the Oakville estate and estate wines prodcued starting with the 200 vinatge are from those new vines.

Wines

Beginning with the 2000 vintage, Rudd is producing red wine from their Oakville vineyard that has been re-planted to the five Bordeaux varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. In 2004, they renamed their Cabernet Sauvignon as "Crossroads" to better distinguish it name-wise from their proprietary blend.

* Cabernet Sauvignon * Bordeaux Blend

Rudd also produces a Chardonnay from the Bacigalupi Vineyard in the Russian River Valley and a Sauvignon Blanc sourced from Napa Valley.
