Community Tasting Notes (average 92.9 pts. and median of 93 pts. in 24 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by kohada on 2/2/2022: From a 375ml. Bit advanced, stone fruit with almond and brown sugar notes, but less intense and lively than I'd like it to be. Drink up. (613 views)
Tasted by winemaker on 9/15/2018 & rated 93 points: Mellow and delicious. Only a tad sweet. Very well done. (1498 views)
Tasted by ashikoh on 7/26/2017 & rated 93 points: Consumed from a 375 mL. Light golden color. Aromas of apricot, pear, honeycomb, and petrol. Generous fruit on the palate with a fair amount of residual sugar (25 g/L), a luscious mouthfeel, good acidity, 13.2% alcohol, and long mineral finish. (1679 views)
Tasted by ArtF on 6/10/2017 & rated 92 points: Rich, dry with a sweetness on finish. From half. Full bottles can last another 5-6 years, becoming more viscous. (1684 views)
Tasted by jbaron on 2/11/2017 & rated 93 points: Advanced but quite tasty. (1698 views)
Tasted by ArtF on 10/21/2016 & rated 90 points: Half was a little past prime. (1604 views)
Tasted by schway on 8/21/2016 & rated 94 points: Fabulous (1429 views)
Tasted by ArtF on 5/26/2016 & rated 88 points: This half bottle was good, but seems advanced. Light/medium gold, but less sweet than I remember. More peach pit and almond than fruit. (1078 views)
Tasted by jbaron on 5/19/2016 & rated 93 points: Back to being a great bottle of wine.

But ready to drink for sure. (1052 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 2/8/2016 & rated 93 points: Celebrating Neil's 75th & Chinese New Year (Sun Wah, Chicago): From magnum. Stone, slate and pear notes in the bouquet and on the palate. Terrific fruit and length. Lovely. (1475 views)
Tasted by jbaron on 12/24/2015: Hmm. 8 years since my last note! This one from a 375. Good, but seems rather advanced. Judgement reserved. (922 views)
Tasted by ArtF on 10/18/2015 & rated 95 points: Apricot and lychee on nose. On palate, lots of fruit but acidity keeps this from being a sweet wine. I liked it in sips as it warmed to room temp. Drank from .375. (1029 views)
Tasted by ArtF on 7/18/2015 & rated 96 points: From half. Medium gold. Drinking well now. Mellow acidity balances the sweetness beautifully. Full bodied but not very viscous. Has lots of life ahead. (1023 views)
Tasted by ArtF on 4/6/2015 & rated 92 points: From .375, this was light gold, slightly sweet but balanced. Full bodied but not viscous. I think this will become less sweet and more silky with 5 more years. (1087 views)
Tasted by winemaker on 7/4/2014 & rated 93 points: Another delicious wine. This was sweeter than the 2003. It is also less viscous. (1480 views)
Tasted by silton on 12/30/2011 & rated 93 points: I left this bottle in the freezer on the 26th. Yes, that really happened. When discovered, the cork was half pushed out. I thawed it quickly in a warm bath and it appears to have suffered no lasting damage as it was delicious, clean, long, round and well-proportioned, virtually unchanged since 2008, perhaps a bit less glossy and fruity yet equally or more complex. Fantastic wine experience. 93+ (2586 views)
Tasted by WineDoctors on 6/17/2011 & rated 96 points: wow. rebecca was right. full bodied, unobtrusive petrol, can last a lifetime. with momofuko maple glazed pork belly and spicy shrimp in fish sauce. (2792 views)
Tasted by wickedwax on 12/25/2010: out of 375ml. tightly wound nose of limes, orange creamsicle and yellow stonefruit over chalky minerality. great acid and just a very slight touch of rs. a little disjointed today, will be be better in a few years when things can integrate. shows great potential. (2509 views)
Tasted by silton on 2/10/2008 & rated 93 points: A bit richer and creamier than the Schlossberg CSC, with stones and light flowers off the nose and layered almond, clementine, and pineapple flavors that float across the palate and linger long enough to provide backchannel olafactory notes. Outstanding. From a 375. (2802 views)
Tasted by jbaron on 12/16/2007 & rated 94 points: Wow! A very, very nice bottle (half bottle) of riesling that delivers everything in a smooth, well-put-together package of niceties. The nose is mostly minerals and citrus (grapefruit, very ripe lemons), the tastes are the same, with more citrus, some banana and pineapple, and some orange tropical fruit mixed in, and the length is long, impressive, and lingering, with a very nice spicy element that borders on the good side of bitter. I could drink many glasses of this. (2126 views)
Tasted by schway on 12/16/2007 & rated 92 points: 92+. My first Alsatian Riesling. Pale greenish-yellow. Floral, mineral and grassy aromas. (Great quality to the aromas, but more subdued than I expected. Hopefully will open up with age.) Flavors of peach, honey, stones, lemon, perhaps a bit of grapefruit. Noticeable sweetness (more than I expected), but plenty of acidic tang to back it up. Lots of orange peel, and occasional hints of light spice (white pepper?) on the wonderfully long, lively, steely and pleasantly bitter finish. Finish is by far the best part. There are still faint echoes of citrus an minerals over a minute later. Don't know anything about this sort of wine, but I suspect that it will have a lot more to give after some years in the cellar. We'll see. . . . (2766 views)
