Tasted by RedLoverJim on 1/11/2013 & rated 87 points: Still holding up well, but I wouldn't hang on to it much longer. (1782 views)
Tasted by Enzo D on 6/3/2012 & rated 87 points: Purchased at winery several years ago. Thought it would be well past it's prime but actually quite nice. Mellow with decent fruit. (2092 views)
Tasted by wadcorp on 5/22/2009: Getting to the end of the drinking window. Bad habit we seem to keep repeating. Medium fruit. Not quite as full as expected. The nose was not striking. Still can't quite put my finger on it. Nothing off, but nothing really notable. Love the Merryvale line, but this vintage doesn't seem to be as notable. (2423 views)
Tasted by doppioexpresso on 6/25/2008 & rated 87 points: Very nice medium bodied wine, quite impressive for its price (+/- $ 28 in Switzerland). Nose, a bit earthy with a hint of fresh green gras, taste black cherry and a bit of of figues... something bitter in the aftertaste, but i havn't found the word to discibe the bitternes. Probably a bit young and therefore still a bit strong alcohol taste... I like it a lot though (2844 views)
Tasted by Texas Pete on 4/14/2008 & rated 82 points: Plum and black cherry, tannins somewhat tight. Interesting nose, but uneventful on the palate. (2792 views)
Tasted by Wrighty on 10/10/2007 & rated 87 points: US Trip; 10/8/2007-10/14/2007 (Dallas, Hudson, New York): Medium body with some freshness (2145 views)

Merlot

Merlot is a dark blue–colored wine grape variety, that is used as both a blending grape and for varietal wines. The name Merlot is thought to be a diminutive of merle, the French name for the blackbird, probably a reference to the color of the grape. Its softness and "fleshiness", combined with its earlier ripening, makes Merlot a popular grape for blending with the sterner, later-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon, which tends to be higher in tannin.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
