Tasted by Exarsi on 9/7/2023 & rated 93 points: Chocolate covered cherries, killer acid, super ripe cherries and some blueberries. A bit of tobacco. Bad notes bc this was the fourth of the night but damn. This is killer juice. Super Tuscans stay fuckin super. (344 views)
Tasted by Rbhan12 on 1/10/2023 & rated 93 points: Served blind, I called 2005 left bank BDX.

Nose showed that classic red and dark fruits that are drying and layered. Had some leathery earthy background as well. Absolutely classic bordelaise varietal nose with age. Palate was very much of the same, and showed some tobacco as it aired out. Full bodied, nice acidity, tannins still providing great structure. There was a lot of fresh red fruits to the palate, even a bit of herb. Finish was long and full. Great minerality.

Was pretty shocked to see this at 07 super tuscan. In hindsight, it had this freshness that I typically associate with Italy, but I just couldn't not call 05 left bank.

Drinks beautifully now. I'd recommend a 60-90 min decant. (950 views)
Tasted by Acove on 1/10/2023 & rated 92 points: Really firing on all cylinders after 30mins of air and 30mins in the bottle. Black fruits, star anise, pyrazine, minerals then a pretty full bodied palate with great acid and a touch of fine tannin on the finish. Very well made wine and much better than I was expecting given some reviews. Might have mistaken this for left bank bdx if not for a bit of ripeness and heaviness on the palate. (773 views)
Tasted by rustyRudy on 9/6/2022 & rated 92 points: Mildly red brick, cedar, graphite, and underbrush on the nose. Black cherry, herbs, tart blackberry, evolved tannins and a long and lovely finish. Just a touch of heat mid palate. (1054 views)

Tasted by markcic on 5/23/2022 & rated 90 points: We pnp'd at lunch. Dark red fruit on the nose. The palate was dark cherry, currant, forest floor and a hint of spice leading to a finish of moderate length. It may be 15 years old but it has a few years of life left in it. (1013 views)
Tasted by Verb on 11/2/2021 & rated 89 points: medium red with garnet rim - blackberry/plumb with some graphite and earthy undertones - light red fruit mouth, medium body, resolved tannins and prominent acidity - a nice smooth drinking wine, but not as good as my last bottle - the fruit faded too quickly leaving mostly a thin acid finish - probably as good as it will ever get right now (1375 views)
Tasted by Verb on 9/22/2021 & rated 91 points: medium red with garnet rim - blackberry/plumb with some graphite and earthy undertones - ripe red fruit mouth, medium body, resolved tannins and prominent fresh acidity - 10-15 sec finish - a very nice surprisingly smooth drinking wine, but would not have guessed this was a cab/merlot blend - can easily last another 3-5 years, but probably as good as it will ever get right now (1423 views)
Tasted by Tim Heaton on 2/17/2021: Cork busted like none before it, 1/3 of it went back into the bottle, so I decanted for sediment and let it aerate 30 minutes. The last time I opened one, it was complete and delicious. This time, it was as if it wanted to get up and run, but it really just sat on a bench, never moving. It was an ok food wine, but in a very generic sense. Damn cork. 14,0% abv., drink in the next 5-6 years, though I don't see it improving from here. NR

 Tasted by ME_DOC on 1/10/2021 & rated 91 points: Half bottle (0,375ml).
This vintage around 20 % of declassified sassicaia barrels went into the guidalberto.
Dark red with some slight brown reflexes. Textbook tuscany nose with a mix of dark red berries, italian herbs and forestfloor flavors. Meanwhile tannins are nicely integrated, a real pleasure to drink right now if you have some bottles left... (1647 views)
Tasted by Mark van Delft on 12/17/2020 & rated 92 points: Nice aged Guidalberto, 2nd wine of San Guido (Sassicaia): graphite, tar, tobacco, blackberry, fig, dried black fruit, clove, cassis, medium+ body, smooth long finish (1384 views)
Tasted by kend707 on 6/4/2020 & rated 91 points: If I were in the mood for a cab/merlot blend I would never go to this wine. If I were interested in an aglianico I'd rush to this. Tannins are huge, loads of fruit with an over abundance of tar. Not everyone's cup of tea but aglianico lovers should buy and drink ten years from now. (1785 views)
Tasted by Tim Heaton on 6/1/2020: My fourth time in recent years, and it's holding up quite well. That said, there's been some variation - some have been good+, some have been very good. Still rather fresh, with firm, sweet tannins that remind you they're not fully resolved; same for the acid, and fruit, there's still gas in the tank. This is a combination of (mostly) secondary, with some tertiary development, and so it's more than just fruit now, it's complex, and a solid dose of fruit. There's also a certain elegance to this that when combined with its remaining structure has me looking toward another 5-7 years of very good drinking ahead. Excellent gateway wine for those firmly entrenched in the new world, but curious about the old world, too. 14,0% abv. recommended

Tasted by Zweder on 10/28/2019 & rated 91 points: Weekly tasting group RWP #350; Bolgheri vs Bordeaux (@ CvR): Beautiful bouquet with dark berries like cassis, graphite and tobacco. On the palate red and dark berries, bell pepper, vanilla, good acidity, some earth and round tannin. Beautiful wine in a beautiful drinking stage and no hurry. (2082 views)
Tasted by Lordswood on 9/15/2019 & rated 91 points: Delicious, rich, chocolate dark fruits. Good length and lovely ripe tannins to give it structure. I love this wine. (1903 views)
Tasted by Burgaddict on 4/5/2019: Leiden in Voorhout: Supertuscan blend, cabernet and merlot. Very balanced wine, soft tannins, drinking nicely. Great wine. (2519 views)
Tasted by DStone on 3/20/2019 & rated 92 points: Drinking nicely in early 2019. Stored in wine fridges since purchasing in Nov 2010, except for shipment in wintertime from Europe to the US. Actually, it's 'singing'. Nice dark fruit on the nose and palate, balanced tannins, with a nice long finish. This wine is a bargain at this quality level. I should've bought several when I bought at AMC Weinimport in Saarbrucken. (2096 views)
Tasted by patrickrains on 4/29/2018 & rated 93 points: love this wine. hold remaining bottles to see how it continues to develp (2893 views)
Tasted by Kerino on 4/26/2018 & rated 90 points: A nice surprise to have as I'd been delaying drinking this. Which was a bit of luck as it's just ready. Rich smooth cab flavours and balance. Nothing particularly complex, just good.Think labrador rather than poodle. (2670 views)
Tasted by patrickrains on 4/10/2018 & rated 92 points: Love this wine, and with 10 years in the bottle it's drinking great. Nice balance of Cab and merlot. (2486 views)
Tasted by Lordswood on 1/19/2018 & rated 91 points: Expressive rich dark fruit nose. The palate is rich, full, vibrant, with dark plummy fruit followed up with cleansing acidity and some lovely ripe drying tannins. Beautifully framed, it also finishes beautifully - clean as a whistle. (2274 views)
Tasted by r.o.man on 12/25/2017 & rated 94 points: My first wine from Tenuta San Guido. I read the press reviews of this wine when released so I decided to buy it in a small wine shop in San Gimignano and let it age. The wine lost its blue and black berries aromas and aged to mellow ripe fruit of strawberries and plum. The wine is very expressive, intense and rich, but never heavy. Dense, tight, focused and balanced. It finishes long, clean and light. Great expression of Bolgheri. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot. (2372 views)
Tasted by Uncle John on 12/20/2017 & rated 91 points: A beautifully balanced wine at its peak. In 2007 Guidalberto is a blend of 60% cabernet sauvignon and 40% merlot. (1576 views)
Tasted by Lyubomir Lefterov on 9/13/2017 & rated 92 points: Quite impressed how nicely this one has developed. Layered tertiary aromas, dusty tannins that need an hour of decanting, tasty with a memorable finish. (2150 views)

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.
