Medium to light in weight, very restrained in style - yet brimming with flavors. Earth, spice, cranberry/pomegranate, maybe a hint of cinnamon. Excellent acidity, though this is a joy to drink right now.|

| ||Tasted by gutt22 on 9/20/2011: 14.5% alcohol. Purple-tinged black cherry color. Initially tight nose that opens up to reveal a dark fruit nose of pomegranate and blackberry. In the mouth, a pleasant wine that is fruit driven, with slightly tart pomegranate and dark berry notes. Some notes of earth and a very nice kick of acidity. Solid finish shows some heat. This is a pleasant enough wine, but it's surprisingly completely devoid of RRV character. You can't tell if this is from Santa Lucia or RRV. B+ (2573 views)|

There is oak, to be sure, but its well-done and not clumsy. Big, bold, and balanced. The finish was cinnamony, but didn't overwhelm the fruit. I enjoyed this quite a bit more than last year, and would consider if good value for the $35 suggested retail, especially if you enjoy the robust RRV style of Pinot. (2645 views)|

| ||Tasted by Jason Rzutkiewicz on 6/26/2011 & rated 89 points: (14.5%) Bright fruit on the nose with more of the same on the palate with raspberry and cherries along with a cola acidity which keeps this in fine balance. Coupled with it showing nice layers at this young age and one would guess this one has better years ahead of it. The finish brings the oak (46% new French) along with the creaminess and tart cherries that linger on nicely. A wine ready to drink now or reward you for your patience. 5,000 cases made (1570 views)|

Pinot Noir is the Noble red grape of Burgundy, capable of ripening in a cooler climate, which Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot will not reliably do. It is unpredictable and difficult both to grow and to vinify, but results in some of the finest reds in the world. It is believed to have been selected from wild vines two thousand years ago. It is also used in the production of champagne. In fact, more Pinot Noir goes into Champagne than is used in all of the Cote d'Or! It is also grown in Alsace, Germany, the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Croatia, Serbia, Italy, Austria, and so forth, with varying degrees of success.
