Tasted by arthrovine on 3/3/2015 flawed bottle: Corked.

Damn, I think there was brilliance underneath that cork flaw. Those of you whom with this bottle in your cellar are mighty lucky (1139 views)
Tasted by RobertB321 on 11/27/2014 & rated 91 points: Sugar plum and raisin aromas. Well extracted flavors. Some smokiness. Long lasting. Very dark color. (1073 views)
Tasted by paydon9 on 4/6/2014 & rated 88 points: Deep red. Smoke, blueberry, salumi, leather, vanilla nose. Blackberry, pepper, leather, medium-long finish. Smooth tannins and fairly lively acid. This should last a few more years, although I’m not sure it will improve much. (1187 views)
Tasted by dave smigielski on 3/17/2014 & rated 89 points: Needed about 2 hours in the decanter and it started to open up brilliantly (1728 views)
Tasted by blakel on 8/27/2013 & rated 89 points: I think this vintage has peaked. Good, but no longer great. Drink up! (1432 views)
Tasted by europat55 on 7/13/2013 & rated 90 points: Still in pretty good shape. (741 views)
Tasted by blakel on 5/25/2013 & rated 90 points: A bit more modest, subdued than the other Cabots I've had recently. Nice whiff of Bacon and smoke on the PnP, then those aromas blew off, leaving a nicely balanced simple syrah, After an hour or so it started to open up again, but most of the bottle is drunk! Not too shabby, but not a stunner like some of the later vintages. (716 views)
Tasted by Eric on 1/10/2013: Classic Cabot. Meaty, dusky, with hints of mint and eucalyptus. Shocking red fruit. Extremely fresh. (2674 views)
Tasted by jdabrowski1027 on 11/21/2012 & rated 92 points: Delicious. Meaty, bloody, olive nose, with much more of the same on the palate. Very old world in style, this shows very little alcohol, while having a firm acid backbone. Great. (901 views)

Syrah

Varietal article (Wikipedia) | (Wines Northwest)

Note that some producers in the Northern Rhone distinguish between simply Syrah and "Serine", the latter described as ‘an ancient clone of Syrah, the berries of which are more oval-shaped and less deeply pigmented than Syrah’ by producer Tardieu-Laurent.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

North Coast

The North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California, covering more than three million acres, includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and portions of Marin and Solano counties. (see The Wine Institute for more information)
