Community Tasting Notes (average 88.9 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 110 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by loechnerdekoning on 12/23/2023 & rated 94 points: At opening of the bottle Petrol
Surprisingly fresh, green apple, has quite some legs on it. Will last another few years! (140 views)
Tasted by joet626 on 5/21/2023 & rated 88 points: Good. Darker gold color. A hint of lemon and some honey flavors. (252 views)
Tasted by vitroman on 2/13/2023 & rated 86 points: Somewhat yellow in color, oxidized. Drinkable, but nothing to write home about. Drink them if you have them, I do not think that this will improve with more aging. (319 views)
Tasted by ndijss on 1/14/2023 & rated 90 points: Drank with oven roasted chicken with creamy mushroom sauce and kohlrabi gratin. On the nose intense gout de petrol, signs of proper aging. On the palette still so youthful, juicy, clearly lemon. Becomes almost buttery with the food combination. An amazing evening, thanks for the bottle Jean-Louis. (295 views)
Tasted by kosmik on 2/28/2021 & rated 90 points: Superbe tenue dans le temps.
Encore beaucoup de dynamisme, belle acidité, matière noble, aucune trace d’oxydation, salin, fruit jaune, babeurre, herbes fraîches rappelant l’estragon et la sarriette, fleurs blanches, superbe nez.
Bien sec, beau touché de bouche satiné, amertume moyenne-faible, persistance moyenne-courte (petit défaut ici)
Prêt à boire mais tiendra encore 2-3 ans facilement. (1118 views)
Tasted by hsacks on 1/1/2021 & rated 93 points: A touch rich and longer on the palate than the 7/4/20 bottle. (857 views)
Tasted by Charlie Carnes on 11/12/2020 flawed bottle: Another "off" bottle; is there a pattern emerging? (977 views)
Tasted by cannym on 8/8/2020 & rated 90 points: Light gold. Plenty of lemon & lime, limestone, some unripe pineapple. Plenty austere acidity, decent length. Very enjoyable. (850 views)
Tasted by guzmana on 7/25/2020 & rated 90 points: Nice in it’s austerity. Very set with deep citrus notes and a metallic austerity that you would expect. Tangerine and lemon notes. (767 views)
Tasted by hsacks on 7/4/2020 & rated 92 points: Happily, this wine was very fresh and much more balanced and complex than the 1/12/16 bottle. (473 views)
Tasted by joet626 on 2/21/2020 & rated 90 points: Nice lemony flavor again. Smoother and nicer than two previous bottles. Tasting pretty good! (571 views)
Tasted by Charlie Carnes on 1/17/2020: On its way to being turned. As it is, it is heavy, sluggish. I ended cooking with this. (710 views)
Tasted by Charlie Carnes on 1/17/2020 flawed bottle: Dark, apple juice, turned. (667 views)
Tasted by COWineLover on 11/28/2019 flawed bottle: Second bottle opened. Tartrates on the cork base, and another bottle that went down the drain. (625 views)
Tasted by COWineLover on 11/28/2019 flawed bottle: Opened to serve with Thanksgiving dinner. Tartrates on the cork. Well stored but this was terrible. (604 views)
Tasted by djpo on 8/11/2019 & rated 86 points: The fruit and the acid are indeed separate. Yet this was a nice wine with mild Indian lentils and paneer. Will the acid and fruit connect someday? I'd guess no and drink whenever it suits you. (588 views)
Tasted by bwillia on 11/17/2018 & rated 88 points: Might be a little past prime. (875 views)
Tasted by wvanhavere on 10/16/2018 & rated 85 points: Pale yellow.
Some petroleum notes.
Fresh and zesty.
The acidity is still to separate from the overall impression.
Wait another 5 years? (864 views)
Tasted by Pgraziano on 7/30/2018 & rated 91 points: Needed some time in the bottle, but now it sings. Still significant citrus but more integrated. Much better balance. Still somewhat one dimensional but with a much longer finish (1086 views)
Tasted by bacchus of knockholt on 5/7/2018 & rated 91 points: Green gold colour. Nose is muted but the palate more than makes up for it. It is pretty lush with a good weight and superb flavours of apple and lime. There are attractive petrol notes too with a persistent apple, citrus zing on the long finish. Wonderful stuff. (1120 views)
Tasted by joet626 on 12/18/2016 & rated 88 points: Very minerally with a lot of lemon. Off-dry. Not bad (2082 views)
Tasted by Vintomas on 8/27/2016 & rated 84 points: Nose with mineral, citrus, some yellow apples and baked apples, and a whiff of petroleum. Quite dry on the palate (I'd describe this as "classically Chablis dry") with green apples, citrus, mineral, high and quite prominent acidity, a bit of green notes and a long finish with green apples and minerality. Some developed notes, could develop more, but I don't really see it improving, 84 p.

This is a very firm and fresh style of Riesling, especially for Alsace, but also downright austere since since the vintage character has "amplified" the typical Trimbach style. While it is pure and classic, in this case, I wouldn't have minded a bit more "filling and substance" in the wine to balance the acidity. (2379 views)
Tasted by hsacks on 1/12/2016 & rated 90 points: Similar to the 1/10/15 bottle and excellent with a range of sushi and sashimi. (2807 views)
Tasted by garrigue65 on 11/20/2015 & rated 90 points: Crisp acidity with notes of green apple and citrus. Great with goat cheese and anjou pear. (2728 views)
Tasted by odds on 9/19/2015 & rated 90 points: Took a glass to celebrate the end of the summer. Consistent with my previous notes, but this time I have to note it is enjoyable to let the floral and nose open up. Great late summer glass.

Edit: Leftover consumed on 9-23 evening and is still very good (2825 views)
