Tasted by jjct on 7/20/2022 flawed bottle: Corked. Too bad, because there was a very nice wine under the TCA. (984 views)
Tasted by Steve Brickley on 2/27/2021 & rated 99 points: A bit of petrol and oily texture on the open, but just marries so well witb the flavors. Citrus, but slight, bread yeast, slight hint of buttery roundness, fully integrated, acid in check but keeping this going. Color watery yellow. This is up there with some of the best chard I have had. Provenance is winery direct and 51 degrees. Wow. This has a decade or more left in it. I do like understated wines with subtle flavors. This has it. (1669 views)
Tasted by ews3 on 1/9/2021 & rated 94 points: These went to storage and I was able to keep my hands off for many years. Now — it is tough — these are in a great place. Loads of citrus and enough body to stand up to the bracing acids. Great finish. (1701 views)
Tasted by xwine on 10/10/2020: Very reductive, and it never fully blew off. Underneath the reduction is a solidly structured wine, and it had some very nice elements, including excellent acidity and yellow fruit with a citrus note. (1640 views)
Tasted by dougie on 4/22/2018 & rated 92 points: Complex and fuller than most. Nice. Drink last one during next year or so. (2910 views)
Tasted by xwine on 7/23/2017: On day one this showed a lot of lemon notes, some alcohol noticeable. But more concerning it just seemed to lack punch and excitement. On day two is was a completely different wine, with good energy, tight acidity, and a lemony palate. (2859 views)
Tasted by Steve Brickley on 4/6/2017 & rated 96 points: Citrus on the nose; bread yeast notes (like a piece of San Francisco chewy sourdough fresh out of the oven) dominate; lemon, slight tart pucker mid palate, light on its feet, chablis. Almost getting some german riesling petrol on this. Yikes this is good. Has years ahead of itself but drinking well now. Seafood, oysters, the beach, clam chowder, muscles.... sour dough and butter would be perfect to have or think about while sipping this. (2909 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 3/3/2017 & rated 90 points: HDH Magnum Dinner (Del Frisco - Chicago IL): Floral start with lemon custard and a fun array of ripe fruit start-to-finish with good concentration, moderate finesse and length. (3468 views)
Tasted by Grape_ape on 1/4/2016: decanted about 20-30 mins... nice light golden color, drinking really well and beginning to show some nice secondary development. (3399 views)
Tasted by J @ y H @ c k on 11/15/2014 & rated 92 points: At X2O. Outstanding wine. Excellent balance of fruit and acidity. Developing that deep almost meaty component of flavor - reminds me of Meursault - without any of the "American Palate" buttery oaky flavor. (3678 views)
Tasted by J @ y H @ c k on 11/12/2014 & rated 91 points: Outsatanding. Acid and minerals to balance strong white fruit. No oak or buttery flavors. Excellent balance. (3108 views)
Tasted by Rich S on 9/10/2014 & rated 93 points: Light yellow color. A bit tight upon initial opening but after 10-15 mins in the glass, it really started showing nicely. Lemon custard, white flowers, talcum powder and green apple with some rocky/stone driven mineral notes. Similar flavors on the palate with the green apple and citrus notes coming through with vibrant acidity. Clean and crisp mouthfeel and finish. This wine will probably continue to evolve and improve. Unfortunately, this was my last bottle. (3225 views)
Tasted by rnellans on 6/16/2014 & rated 93 points: Light straw color. Orchard fruit, citrus and minerality. Certainly NOT the big fat oaky Cali chardonnay. I like this. Guessed that it might be California. Very nice balance of fruit and acid. Great length. I'd buy this one. (3644 views)
Tasted by WST on 12/30/2013 & rated 93 points: Beautiful wine; I might be under-rating it. White orchard fruit and citrus, plenty of saline minerality. Dense, more viscous and less angular than the Porter Bass. A bit more oak influence, beautiful balance. (4251 views)
Tasted by Rich S on 12/7/2013 & rated 93 points: Pale yellow color. Great nose of crushed rocks, citrus, lemon zest, talcum powder and just a touch of floral notes. Ripping acidity on the palate with tons of minerality coming through along with lemon curd on the back end. Barely detect that this wine saw any oak and coming in at 12.9% abv, this wine is light and elegant. Really fantastic. Ceritas is the pinnacle of Cali chardonnay for me. (3307 views)
Tasted by dougie on 8/8/2013 & rated 93 points: Last few reviewers stated the profile well. Amazing wine that should get a bit better. Ceritas' chards are tops! (3847 views)
Tasted by Grape_ape on 4/1/2013: Really exceptional domestic chardonnay... crisp citrus, apple, stone fruits, lots of energetic acidity, along with some almond, nutty notes towards the finish with the faintest kiss of oak. Very well balanced, fresh and elegant. curious to see what a few years will do for this wine, as it just kept getting better hte longer it was open, and really showed best as it got closer to what I prefer as red wine serving temp.. (4425 views)
Tasted by ljl203 on 3/30/2013 & rated 92 points: Almond paste, honey, and flint notes wrapped around a core of oily lemon goodness. Just great. (3877 views)
Tasted by Rich S on 3/15/2013 & rated 93 points: Light blond color. Lovely nose of crushed rocks, honeysuckle, white floral notes, lemon and a hint of vanilla. On the palate the wine showed tart green apple, chalk dust, limestone, lemon meringue, and mineral notes. Strong acidic backbone and a moderate finish. This wine really went well with the cod stuffed with crabmeat in a lemon butter sauce that I paired with the wine. I enjoyed this quite a bit and will revisit my other bottle in a year or so. (3708 views)
Tasted by lsnider on 3/2/2013 & rated 92 points: PnP. Just seemed for this bottle the tartness was gone. Lots of stone & floral notes. A outstanding Chardonnay made in wht seems to be a more old owrld style. Held up very well the 2nd day as I saved some to give it a try. (3777 views)
Tasted by mjf@ulkner on 2/9/2013 & rated 92 points: Pale yellow. A juicy Chardonnay with plenty of crisp acidity. A refreshing palate cleanser when paired with a chicken pot pie dish. Not at all tiring or over oaked. Will stay on my shortlist of must buy Cali Chards. (3744 views)
Tasted by cartime on 12/2/2012 & rated 93 points: Another great Ceritas Chard. Lemon curd, stone fruit, white vanilla, oaky spice, roasted almond, and a hint of tropical fruit. Great acidity and a long finish. Very young - the oak sticks out a bit awkwardly at times, but this will be great in 3-4 years time and will probably go 10+. This is the second vintage from this producer for me - I'm convinced to just put these away for a few years as soon as I get them from now on. (3839 views)
Tasted by Matt T on 11/29/2012 & rated 93 points: This is a great Chardonnay. Good minerality with notes of papaya, honeysuckle, and vanilla. Excellent balance and long finish. (3793 views)
Tasted by Mountster27 on 11/22/2012 & rated 91 points: Crisp green fruit and refreshing acidity. Easy to drink, easy to enjoy. Will never pass up any Ceritas Chardonnay. (3581 views)
Tasted by AccaDacca on 9/20/2012 & rated 93 points: Crisp, clean Chardonnay. Green fruit with sharp mine reality with long finish. Will get better. (4008 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
