Tasted by SiciliaVegaUnica on 6/16/2018 & rated 91 points: I bought 4 of this wine back in 2013. The first bottle I tasted was closed and austere and only opened up after a few hours decant. What a difference today! Recommended drink by is 2016, but I think this wine has enough life in it for another year or 2. Well balanced tannins, acidity and fruit. Dark fruit flavors with a chewy texture. Lip smacking long finish. (2009 views)
Tasted by Kentw on 7/11/2017 & rated 86 points: Dusty, fresh with high acidity. Medium plus body, dry with dark fruits and some red fruit notes like cranberry. Ok drinker but not something that I would buy again. (2592 views)
Tasted by GoBlue2002 on 5/20/2016 & rated 90 points: Smooth and dusty tannins with earthy bramble and dark fruit on the nose. Notes of cherry, cranberry, and leather on the palate with old world finesse shining through in the longer finish. This wine became more complex with time and paired well with an Italian style meatloaf.
This wine opened up a bit musty, but that blew off after 30-60 minutes.

Tasted by macaujames on 9/19/2015 & rated 90 points: A really satisfying medium to full bodied lowish alcohol 13.5% pure red fruited Ribera del Duero. Is concentrated but not excessively. Has a certain balance and longish lip smacking finish. Great QPR at 12 Euros!! (3317 views)
Tasted by hdn on 9/19/2015 & rated 91 points: Ook deze fles over 2 dagen gedronken en zelfde commentaar als vorige fles: verbetert veel op dag 2.
Donkere volle en krachtige wijn. Rijpe braam en kers, intens, warm en kruidig. Lange finale. Zeer goede P/Q (3550 views)
Tasted by Ron Van Holland on 3/2/2015 & rated 91 points: Very shy nose followed by energetic chokecherry, tobacco, and graphite. Well orchestrated acid and tannins. 10% cabernet sauvignon darkens the color and taste, moderates but doesn't obliterate the tangy tempranillo infrastructure. Classic Ribera del Duero. (3315 views)
Tasted by jrbigas on 3/1/2015 & rated 90 points: Buen cuerpo (2752 views)
Tasted by joesi16 on 8/24/2014: Better than last bottle, acid has tamed and some dark fruit was there. May need more time but i dont have room to cellar a $12 wine. (2951 views)
Tasted by corkscrews on 8/16/2014 & rated 89 points: A nose of dark fruit and spice, dark purple in color. A medium to full bodied red blend, with blackberry, blueberry, licorice and spices on finish A good QPR. www.winelx.com (2281 views)
Tasted by hdn on 5/5/2014 & rated 89 points: Gedronken over 2 dagen. Veel rijp fruit, donkere kersen, wat pruim. Dag 1 rechtstreeks uit de kelder: wat fris en ingetogen. Dag 2: voller en aromatischer. Goede P/Q (2807 views)
Tasted by PimpDaddy2Kool on 4/9/2014 & rated 91 points: Excellent modern styled RDD for the price ($14). Dark purple in color. Wonderful nose of black fruit and spice. Stewed prunes and smoke on the palate. Very fruit forward. Has a delicious factor. Recommend decanting for at least an hour to smooth things out. (2380 views)
Tasted by pkatz on 12/6/2013 & rated 85 points: Although some notes complain about tannins and acid, to me it is the closed down nature of the fruit. Although the wine does have nice clean flavor and polish. Not a bad buy at $12, but I don't see it improving. On the other hand if you like a more austere style of wine, this is a deal. (2256 views)
Tasted by Rtpana on 12/6/2013 & rated 80 points: Expected a fuller body and more fruity taste. Much lighter than expected. Will not buy again. I am becoming suspicious that I don't really like the Tempranillo grape wines. Will continue looking for the perfect Ribera del Duero wine. (3374 views)
Tasted by joesi16 on 10/16/2013: High acid and very little fruit, no rating as i hope it was an off bottle (2682 views)
Tasted by mpclark on 9/17/2013 & rated 88 points: Soft, plummy, smooth, fruit-driven and to my taste somewhat boring. The lack of structure is a subjective flaw, but if you like the modern style RDD tempranillos these high 80's scores are probably well deserved. Fairly priced. (2634 views)
Tasted by briankalita on 9/11/2013 & rated 89 points: Went great with marinatws pork tenderloin on the grill. (2556 views)
Tasted by PimpDaddy2Kool on 8/25/2013 & rated 91 points: A very modern RDD. Medium bodied and very smooth. Dark stone fruit on the palate. It has a delicious factor to it. I like it and will buy more. (1941 views)
Tasted by Bam_Man on 8/21/2013 & rated 89 points: A very nice Ribera del Duero. Lots of plum, currant and vanilla character on both the nose and palate. Full-bodied, showing very good depth and intensity to its luscious, tangy fruit flavors. The long, rich finish features firm tannins and notes of smoke and black licorice, but is just a bit oaky. Delicious now, this will probably be even better in a year or two when the oak and tannins are more fully integrated. A tremendous bargain at just $11.75 on Cinderella Wine. 89+

Tasted by isbjoern on 5/30/2013 & rated 88 points: A fruity Ribera del Duero with a nice spicy touch from oak aging. Soft, slighty creamy and well balanced. A (rare) exmaple of Ribera del Duero that isn't overoaked. Already delicious now. - 88 points (2228 views)
Tasted by pshabe on 5/26/2013 & rated 89 points: A little tight, some time on the shelf, or decanted. (2179 views)
Tasted by ryanmhale on 4/5/2013 & rated 91 points: - Garnet color with slow forming legs. It's balanced and has flavours of oak with a medium/full body. Smooth texture with a long finish. (2622 views)
Tasted by charbo on 12/4/2012: The color is deep ruby. the nose showed toasted oak, chocolate and dark cherry. The tase was much of the same but the fruit was somewhat in the background at this point. At this stage somewhat tannic. The finish had a nice lenght to it. I think it is a nice buy at $15!! (4613 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 11/12/2012: Tasty. Change of style. (3723 views)
 Tasted by Gwelliam1 on 7/22/2012 & rated 85 points: Cojonudo (4388 views)
Tasted by Duncan on 6/1/2012 & rated 86 points: Dark and opaque purple. Assertive nose of...what? A burning tyre thrown into the branches of a plum tree.

Quite high acid, quite tannic. Concentrated, intense fruit at the core but it's largely dormant at the moment.

Drink with red meat or (perhaps more interesting) leave for five years. (4412 views)
Tasted by mgrzelczak on 4/9/2012 & rated 88 points: On the sight is clear, with deep intensity and ruby color. Complex nose, clean of condition with pronounced intensity of dried fruits. Everywhere vanilla, oak, and some cooked. Seems still developing wine. On palate, medium-dry, with pronounced acidity, and stalky tannins. Alcohol medium(+) - to high. Yes, fuull body, with pronounced flavor intensity of black and red fruits, with spicy tones of vanilla. Well-balanced and lengthy wine. In conclusion, needs few years to develop and will surely bring surprising aromas. recommended. (3894 views)
Tasted by eugeniogp on 4/4/2012 & rated 83 points: Fine aroma. Tannins a bit too harsh.

2009 Finca Villacreces Ribera del Duero Pruno

The entry-level 2009 Pruno is predominantly Tempranillo with dollops of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot aged for 12 months in seasoned French oak. Opaque purple in color, it offers up a brooding bouquet of earthy minerality, Asian spices, incense, and assorted black fruits. Velvety-textured, sweetly-fruited, layered, relatively forward, and lengthy, this seamless effort admirably reveals the strengths of the great 2009 vintage and is a superb value to boot. Drink it over the next 5-6 years."

"Finca Villacreces has a well-deserved reputation as one of the finest producers in the DO of Ribera del Duero." (06/11) - 91 Points Jay Miller - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"Warm, light, summer fruit nose. Rich, musky fruit on the palate to start then tannins kick in on the mid-palate but they are mild and well-integrated. Pleasant length with a soft, musky tannin finish." (11/12) - 90 Points

Tempranillo Blend

Tempranillo is the backbone of wines made ihvhhcn the best well-known Spanish regions Rioja and Ribera del Duero, but is also grown as far afield as Mexico and Australia.

As a flavor profile, red fruits like strawberries and cherries can predominate - but with a rustic edge. The Many wines made from Tempranillo will spend a few years in barrel and bottle before reaching the consumers . Many Tempranillo-based wines see a few years of oak - add that to a few years of bottle and the wine can give a subtle - and occasionaly not-so-subtle - leathery mouthfeel. The combination of the tart fruit and tannins make this wine very food friendly.

Spain

Vinos de España - Wines of Spain (Instituto Español de Comercio Exterior) | Wikipedia
Wine Map on weinlagen-info

Spain is the third largest wine producing nation in the world, occupying the majority of the Iberian Peninsula with vast diversity in climate, culture, and of course, wine. From inky, dark reds of the [Priorat] to dry, white Finos from Andalusia, Spain can easily boast of elaborating a wide variety of notable styles. Within Spain there are currently 62 demarcated wine regions, of which a handful have gained international recognition: [Rioja], Priorat and [Ribera del Duero]. Yet these regions are only a small sample of the high quality wines Spain produces. Regions such as Cava, Penedes, Somontano, Galicia, Rueda and Jerez are only a few of the numerous regions worthy of exploration throughout Spain. Spain can also lay claim to having the most land under vine in the world, growing up to, by some accounts, 600 indigenous varietals of which Tempranillo is their most well known. Other popular varietals include [Garnacha], Bobal and Monastrell for reds and for whites; the infamous [sic] Palomino Fino grape which is used in the production of sherry wine, Pedro Ximenez in Montilla Morilles, Albarino used in the creation of the bright, effervescent wines of Galicia, and Verdejo in Rueda. - Source: - Catavino.net

Spain is not in the forefront of winemaking for its dessert wines, other than for its sweet wines from Sherry country including the highly revered Olorosos (when sweetened). But apart from Sherry Spain has a range of styles of dessert wines, ranging from the those made from the Pedro Ximenez grape primarily in Jerez and Montilla-Moriles) to luscious, red dessert wines made in the Mediterranean from the Garnacha (Grenache) grape. Some good Moscatels are made in Mallorca, Alicante and Navarre. The northwest corner of Spain, Galicia, with its bitter Atlantic climate, is even making dessert wines, called “Tostadillos” in the village of Ribadivia (similar to France’s “Vin de Paille”). The Canary Islands have made interesting dessert wines for centuries (they are mentioned by Shakespeare, for example) and in recent years the quality of winemaking has been improved and the Canary Islands wines are being better marketed now. The winemaking styles for “Vinos Dulces” are also diverse, from “Late Harvest” (Vendimia Tardía) to “Fortified Wines” (Fermentación Parcial). Based on in-spain.info.
