Tasted by David_T on 9/9/2018: Two more years and unchanged from my 2016 note. Drinking well but I'll keep cellaring what's left. (2016 views)
Tasted by rjfix on 8/12/2017 & rated 89 points: Nice everyday reisling (2687 views)
Tasted by mmh on 12/6/2016 & rated 87 points: Screwcap. Off dry, reasonably well balanced but I would have preferred a slightly higher acidity. Ample fruit, quite mature but would keep for several more years (the had the bottle opened in the fridge for two days and the last glass was just as good as the first one). (3247 views)
Tasted by David_T on 8/27/2016 & rated 90 points: Continuing to drink well. Off-dry balanced by medium acid/mineral structure. Green apple, lime, nectarine, florals, honey... complex and a killer qpr. Pop one now but should last at least through its 10th birthday. (3477 views)
Tasted by Cryptical11 on 12/25/2014: Way better than lungful girl (5173 views)
Tasted by ddahl on 8/24/2014 & rated 91 points: Ripe crisp green apple flavor, sweet but not overpowering. Aged 2 years added color and sugars. (5618 views)
Tasted by Redrunners on 10/1/2013 & rated 87 points: Solid inexpensive quaffer for Asian or spicy food.

A little simple, moderate acidity and not too sweet.

Enjoyed it more than many of the overly sweet Rieslings at this price point (7522 views)
Tasted by mdefreitas on 9/21/2013 & rated 87 points: A good vintage for this value wine, with bracing acidity and healthy fruit. This is a bit simple and light, but at the price offered it makes a nice foil for a bit of weekday Asian cuisine. (7209 views)
Tasted by David_T on 8/8/2013 & rated 89 points: This may have lost a touch of freshness from a year ago but is aging beautifully especially for a sub-$9 wine. Impossible to beat for the price. Overall my notes match those from a year ago with the wine featuring citrus fruits and good acidity overall. I look forward to seeing where this continues to go with time- it's drinking well now but no hurry either. (7327 views)
Tasted by cobystilp on 7/28/2013 & rated 88 points: Solid. Well-made Riesling. Good QPR. (5807 views)
Tasted by crispino on 6/22/2013 & rated 83 points: Light, and a little sweeter than the semi-dry Rieslings I have grown to like. Still some lip-smacking acidity here, and definitely a good choice as a starter wine, but not quite as versatile with the apps. (5594 views)
Tasted by WOOF Diva on 6/8/2013 & rated 87 points: Mineral, lemon pear, sweeter taste Great deck wine. (3743 views)
Tasted by dkstar1 on 5/15/2013 & rated 86 points: Better than '11 vintage. Minerally, pear, honey. Great QPR. (3859 views)
Tasted by Vervelb on 3/29/2013 & rated 88 points: Tasty, simple, but balanced Riesling, pear and citrus. Slightly sweet with nice acidity. (3954 views)
Tasted by Champagneinhand on 3/29/2013: great qpr riesling for weekday drinking. pitted fruit, apples citrus acid and good mineral. (4546 views)
Tasted by RobertVitello on 3/10/2013 & rated 87 points: Balanced, although somewhat on the sweeter side of middle. Very nice green pear flavor. (3871 views)
Tasted by RayOB on 2/27/2013 & rated 90 points: Drank in Mexico
Lots of minerality and citrus on the nose. Great balance with not too much acidity or sweetness, Medium length.
Amazing value (3934 views)
Tasted by cobystilp on 2/12/2013 & rated 87 points: Perfectly quaffable for the price. Great QPR. (4105 views)
Tasted by wtianseter on 1/31/2013 & rated 85 points: The wine is a light straw color. Nose is minerally and acidic with spicy fruit. When the bottle wa opened a good bit of pressure was released and when the inital glass was poured there was significant effervescence. The taste showed a nice bright fruity flavor and a lot of acid; along with the effervescence that acicity was out of balance. The wine was tasty and a good wine but not my favorite style. It could have been much nicer without the fizz. (3879 views)
Tasted by Bebum on 1/12/2013 & rated 85 points: Disappointing, considering the many positive notes. Probably has seen better days. (4334 views)
Tasted by ddahl on 1/1/2013 & rated 88 points: Excellent value. Sweet and smooth with pear and green apples. Perfect for everyday. (4343 views)
Tasted by jdrago on 12/16/2012 & rated 87 points: Aromas of white flowers. Had a creamy mouth feel; bright; citrus tasting; off dry; taste of lime zest; bananas and blue popsicle. Needs food. Paired well with a dish of cod fish; bacon and Brussels sprouts. The wine complimented the bitterness and saltiness of the dish. Would pair well with Thai food or similar flavored foods. (4722 views)
Tasted by Billigan on 12/5/2012 & rated 87 points: My last 2010 bottle, and it proved to be an especially balanced and refreshing vintage for the Dr. L. In the QPR hall of fame, Dr. L truly stands alone, as the most affordable means to imbibe a classically Mosel riesling. (4896 views)
Tasted by mdeckerski on 12/4/2012 & rated 88 points: Sweet, Tangy refreshing according to my wife. She likes would buy again. (4514 views)
Tasted by astroman on 12/4/2012: Decent for this price. (4582 views)
Tasted by the godfather on 11/19/2012: fun (4621 views)
Tasted by the godfather on 11/16/2012: killer (4423 views)
Tasted by mdefreitas on 11/10/2012 & rated 87 points: Another nice bottle. All the classic apple and cirtus flavors that say "Mosel", but without much slate. Delicious low end bottling without much depth or complexity, but this is what I would expect at the price point (maybe a little more than I would expect). The 2010 acidity really keeps this lively. (4614 views)
Tasted by christophee on 11/8/2012 & rated 84 points: Clear and lite in the glass. Full nose of lime, herbs, pith, Fuji apple, terpene, honey and white peach. Lite body and pithy with grapefruit, tangerine, zest, herbs and apple on the palate. Structured acidity and flinty minerals. Fruit isn't giving enough. Short finish. (4443 views)
Tasted by Altonplace on 11/5/2012 & rated 88 points: Fruity, crisp, very drinkable. (4513 views)
Tasted by the godfather on 11/4/2012: rocks hard (4409 views)
Tasted by the godfather on 10/21/2012: delicious (4334 views)
Tasted by Alpos on 10/12/2012: Not my style of Riesling, but not bad. Too much sugar for me (bought for my wife). Nice acidity, and pleasant fruit (although quite nondescript). (4196 views)
Tasted by Caligrrl on 10/3/2012: Great with Chinese food, a bit sweet on it's own. (4088 views)
Tasted by Redguy on 9/30/2012 & rated 83 points: Petrol initially dominates the nose but is inconsequential on palate. Green and red apples, splash of fresh cherry juice, and a touch of minerality that gains traction with air. Lacks the depth and complexity of finer Mosels, but unmistakingly German riesling all the same. Not bad for $10 (4334 views)
Tasted by wickedwax on 9/24/2012: Aromas of apples, peaches, honey and slate. Some RS on the palate, but with good acidity keeping it well balanced. Not really complex or deep, but really enjoyable for an every day quaffing Riesling. (4173 views)
Tasted by Annie1 on 9/23/2012 & rated 89 points: Surprisingly delicious. I'm not a fan of riesling but this was perfect with spicy Mexican food. Refreshing, bright, not cloying or too sweet. Absolutely the right wine for the spicy meal I served. (3107 views)
Tasted by wind5001 on 9/16/2012 & rated 88 points: Nose: peach, pineapple, herbal - Palate: peach, apples, citrus, herbal; nice acidity, good sweetness, quite balanced. Good easy drinking riesling. (4155 views)
Tasted by TBA on 9/8/2012 & rated 86 points: Riesling was my favorite for many years and recently I tried half a dozen rieslings in the 8-12 range to get back into it. This was by far the best, but still too simple to excite me. Palates change. (4273 views)
Tasted by JOsgood on 9/3/2012: Good and very versatile. Crisp and pure. (5138 views)
Tasted by JOsgood on 8/30/2012: Clean and easy to drink. So versatile and great QPR. (5169 views)

Tasted by cobystilp on 8/28/2012 & rated 88 points: Buy all you can for $7.89 at Costco. Great vintage. Nice and steely. Upfront sweets with a quince zest back end. Bravo! (4088 views)
Tasted by februnholi on 8/12/2012 & rated 87 points: Vinho muito bom e refrescante. Tomamos com canapes de foie gras, caiu mto bem. Vinho bem claro, transparente, com olfato mineral e tons florais, notas de goiaba. Na boca, bem refrescante, com boa acidez e leve doçura. Recomendo. (2992 views)
Tasted by Manalikarma on 7/29/2012 & rated 87 points: Slightly tart with notes of green apple, pear. Smooth mouthfeel with long finish. Definitely a crowd favorite? (4347 views)
Tasted by THaas on 7/25/2012 & rated 88 points: Citrus and mineral, fresh and light. Zippy acidity balances off the sweetness.

Nice with spicy Asian. Should drink well through 2016. (6107 views)
Tasted by Champagneinhand on 7/23/2012 & rated 89 points: Always a crowd pleaser with nice pitted fruit, apple and pear. Sweet and soft around the edges. Great value and good for a party of non-winos. (4525 views)
Tasted by henrydee on 7/19/2012 & rated 89 points: Well balanced. (4238 views)
Tasted by tjdripper on 7/19/2012 & rated 86 points: This was a very classic and traditional tasting Riesling. Sweet and fruity with notes of sweet apple, pear, white grapes (duh), a little pineapple, and some grass. A slight flavor of smooth banana. I'm enjoying American Rieslings a little more right now like Charles Smith Kung Fu Girl. This certainly was not bad by any means, but maybe just a little to sweet for me. (4187 views)
Tasted by JenXH on 7/15/2012 & rated 87 points: SWEET apple & pear, with almost a cream soda flavor & mouthfeel. Slight tart green apple bite after the sweet subsided. Better on day 2. (4168 views)

Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 7/3/2012 & rated 87 points: An Appomattox Weekend; 7/1/2012-7/3/2012 (Baker's Mill - Appomattox, VA): I drank this with the fam on a hot summer day at the mill house, and it was a perfect choice. Citrus and melon on the nose, very flowery. The palate is tangy with a hint of sweetness. Very fresh and fruity with a lot of focus for a basic level wine. A crowd-pleaser for a sweaty crowd. (6435 views)
Tasted by Janstan on 7/2/2012 & rated 89 points: Nice, slightly sweet low alcohol (3908 views)
Tasted by lifeattable on 7/2/2012 & rated 88 points: Citrus and apple on the nose. Fresh and crisp. A decent amount of sweetness on the palate, with balancing acidity. Great as an aperitif. 8.5%! Nice QPR. 87-89 (3973 views)
Tasted by Champagneinhand on 6/28/2012 & rated 88 points: Good qpr. Light apples and pear with some white flowers. A great party qpr white. (4151 views)
Tasted by AdamJP on 6/23/2012: Excelllent. (1952 views)
Tasted by Obalde on 6/12/2012: pale lemon, med+ intensity, youthful, peach, lemon, floral, slate; of dry, med+ acid, low alcohol/light body, med+ intensity, med finish, apple, pear, white peach, stone; good- drink now, finish just short enough to show quality and price but still a very good QPR riesling (2494 views)

Tasted by joshwoodward on 5/29/2012 & rated 89 points: Pnp. Solid - great flavor, simple but tasty. I'd like more acid, though. A touch on the sweet side. (6479 views)

Tasted by Bdub753 on 5/13/2012 & rated 86 points: Very sweet and slightly acidic. Not my favorite Riesling (3826 views)
Tasted by alanh13 on 5/9/2012 & rated 84 points: A delicious foil to a mid-week spicy pepperoni pizza! Hardly the most classic of matches but this fresh, acidic, spritzy and slightly sweet Riesling works perfectly. (6596 views)
Tasted by Dinovino on 4/30/2012 & rated 85 points: Juicy, plump modern style, mango, peach, citrus. Great interplay between sweetness of fruit, acidity and minerality. (4088 views)

Tasted by mau on 4/16/2012 & rated 85 points: Sweet, a bit boring, which can be expected at this price. Lacks some complexity (2980 views)
Tasted by David_T on 4/11/2012 & rated 89 points: Slate and lime coming through on the nose. Flavors of green apple, slate, honeydew, and honey. Nice acidity on the medium-length finish. Enough residual sugar to be a crowd-pleaser yet enough acid balancing it out to please more nuanced palates. (7158 views)
Tasted by mdefreitas on 4/8/2012 & rated 88 points: Consistent as always, crisp, edgy, nervy, but lacking depth. Given the price point this is very good QPR. (7355 views)
Tasted by Baron Slick on 4/7/2012 & rated 89 points: Metallic straw with a touch of chartreuse. Off dry, racy, bright, clean, and balanced. The Mosel's signature acidity cuts through classic notes of green apples, stonefruit, pears, slate, honeysuckle, and a tug of limestone minerality on the crisp finish. Always a solid citizen. Outstanding QPR. (2439 views)
Tasted by BrunelloBob on 4/6/2012 & rated 88 points: I did not like this six months ago, but it's developed nicely since. There's a a petrol element that I don't always get with Dr. L. That said, the acidity is still lacking. (4037 views)
Tasted by ILarsen on 3/30/2012 & rated 85 points: very good riesling you get what you expected - and no more - but clearly drinkable (2981 views)
Tasted by WinePT on 3/29/2012 & rated 84 points: Citrus and stone fruit. Flabby and nowhere near as good as other vintages. (7489 views)
Tasted by winetaste on 3/29/2012 & rated 90 points: Ah.....this lovely riesling is light, sweet and crisp, with a slight sparkle on the tongue. It is nicely balanced and sweet but not overpowering. It has hints of pear, grapefruit with a slight floral aspect. Consistently pleasing and pairs with most meals . (7482 views)
Tasted by the godfather on 3/27/2012: love it (7688 views)
Tasted by alanh13 on 3/26/2012 & rated 85 points: Lovely, simple riesling. Granny Smith apple, peaches and lemon sherbet with some minerality and a touch of classic, Mosel-riesling nose. Nice spritz to it too and palate-tingling acidity without drying out the mouth. Thirst-quenching. Little complexity but great value for money. Perfect for midweek drinking, especially on a bright spring evening! (7555 views)
Tasted by mdefreitas on 3/19/2012 & rated 88 points: Consistent QPR. Crisp, light and zippy. Not deep or long, more shows good Mosel character in a balanced package. (7841 views)
Tasted by SadEdjo on 3/18/2012 & rated 88 points: Crisp, refreshing, tangy, ripe red delicious apple with a hint of lime. (7623 views)

Tasted by JOsgood on 3/3/2012 & rated 89 points: This just goes down so easy and works so well with food. Can't beat it. (8048 views)
Tasted by mdefreitas on 2/28/2012 & rated 88 points: Solid as always. Full of light, filligree, Mosel character. Not much of a finish, but this is well balanced with zippy acids. Thouroughly enjoyable. (8194 views)
Tasted by D_J_S on 2/26/2012 & rated 94 points: Bright and refreshing. Delicious! (4090 views)
Tasted by AdamJP on 2/25/2012: Excellent. (1951 views)
Tasted by edblnc on 2/16/2012 & rated 89 points: This is one to buy cases of, as a weekday go-to for spicy anything. And only $10?! I think it can be had elsewhere for even less. This is my go-to for street tacos, esp. with green salsa. The low alc and sweetness play off the heat, acidity plays well with the acidity in the salsa without either overwhelming the other, and has enough body to tackle the oiliness. grapefruit flavors played up when paired with citrus in food. an excellent wine from an excellent producer. (8737 views)
Tasted by JOsgood on 2/10/2012: My favorite wine with spicy Thai food. Lovely acidity and great QPR. (8598 views)

Tasted by edarrincox on 1/28/2012 & rated 88 points: nice, crisp with some sweetness to it. Great with grilled fish (4010 views)
Tasted by TannicBeast on 1/22/2012 & rated 89 points: Clear, lemon, medium intensity, with hints of gold. A subtle nose displaying green apple, lemon and some white peach. The nose is developing. The palate is dry, with a touch of residual sugar. The palate is consistent iwth the nose. Medium plus acidity, with medium alcohol. Not a lot of complexity, but there is medium plus flavor intensity and the finish is medium in intensity. A great value. Drink now. It might improve a little with some bottle ageing, but then it might also lose some of its freshness. (7551 views)
Tasted by JOsgood on 1/22/2012: Crisp and clean. Always a great wine with food. (7614 views)
Tasted by mdefreitas on 1/21/2012 & rated 88 points: Another good showing. Really loving the acidity of this 2010 version. Unmistakable in its Mosel origins. Granny smith apples, tart, delicious. Not much slate or depth, but excellent QPR. (7498 views)
Tasted by bpj87 on 1/16/2012 & rated 89 points: Bacchanal at St. Chauncy; 1/15/2012-1/16/2012 (Cambridge, MA): Lots of material here. Acidity in spades runs through an imposing concentration of fruit extract: lime blossom, pineapple, wet autumn leaves, sour cherry, and raspberry amidst a ton of ripe granny smith apples. Long, long finish. So drinkable... (thank goodness it is a polite 8.5% ABV) (7121 views)
Tasted by Coupe 60 on 1/14/2012 & rated 88 points: pnp, and had with spicy chinese dinner, slightly sweet, peach/pear flavor profile, just a touch of acidity. Really liked this. Tasted side by side with 2010 St. Urbans-Hof Riesling QbA and came out on top. Will continue to buy as my party/midweek riesling... (6370 views)

Tasted by Tcorbett on 12/30/2011 & rated 91 points: Pale straw yellow, aromas of green apple, tropical fruits/ pine apple and citrus/lemon. The green apply, citrus and summer fruits give it a surgery sweetness that's balanced by tart acid. Very nice. (3858 views)
Tasted by mdefreitas on 12/28/2011 & rated 89 points: Remarkable quality, balance and zip for such a low level wine. Nicely done in 2010, with higher than normal acidity. (5902 views)

Tasted by vinole on 12/21/2011 & rated 85 points: Thick apple fruit with more residual sugar than I prefer, with not enough acidity to counter all that sweetness, so it came off as a bit clumsy and simple. (3064 views)
Tasted by bpj87 on 12/16/2011 & rated 88 points: Simple nose, green and yellow fruits, nicely balanced with good framing acidity and minerality, greater weight of baby-fat fruit than the last few vintages. Always an excellent QPR at $9. (5927 views)
Tasted by 3daywinereview.com on 12/15/2011 & rated 88 points: Clean and nice acidity. Green apples, pear, minerals and a touch of sweetness. Balanced overall and a great everyday white. (5751 views)

Usual Mosel lime and slate but simpler than previous vintages. Needed more structure to balance acidity. (4862 views)

Tasted by christophee on 11/24/2011 & rated 84 points: Clear, yellow and lite green hints with med-lite viscosity in the glass. Soft lime pith, terpene, melon and tropical fruit on the muted nose. Lite body and off-dry with melon, pear and tart tropical fruit on the palate. Simple and enjoyable, but could use more backbone. Short finish. (5149 views)

Tasted by Phredd on 10/20/2011 & rated 87 points: Very light in color, with a lightly tropical nose, on the palate this is crisp and clean, but maybe just a little too sharp and edgy. It also lacks a little depth. But it is as smooth as it can be with all that acidity, and tasty if not overly complex. Best of all, it is inexpensive at $13, and it's available all over the place.  Tasted by YellowDogWineBar on 10/19/2011 & rated 86 points: Aromas of white flowers, asian pears, flint and dust. Also a bit of morning dew. Pear and apples intermingled with gardenia and strong mineral notes on the palate. The acid is more apparent upfront, but it mellows out quite quickly. There's noticeable smokiness on the relatively short finish. (3283 views)
Tasted by mdefreitas on 10/18/2011 & rated 88 points: Very racy, crisp and edgey. A bit lacking in depth, but this has minerality, balance and cut. Nice bargain. (5423 views)

Tasted by mdefreitas on 10/12/2011 & rated 87 points: This is quite good for the price. Lots of Mosel slatey character, with light granny smith apple and pear notes. Crisp, lacey and tangy. Sweetness is in check and overall balance is nice. (5219 views)
Tasted by David_T on 10/8/2011 & rated 88 points: Razor sharp acidity on both the nose and palate; Tons of lime, sour green apple, slate and a bit of something I can't quite make out. Off-dry, but the sweetness balances well with the acidity. Mid-length finish. Could probably use a few more months for the acidity to settle a bit more, but then will be fresh for several years.  Tasted by JOsgood on 10/3/2011 & rated 89 points: Popped and poured with Thai food. Great as usual. Perhaps a bit more minearality than the 2009. My all-time favorite QPR wine continues to shine. (5153 views)
Tasted by Katznery on 9/29/2011 & rated 86 points: Olho: Límpido, amarelo limão pálido.
Nariz: Limpo, intenso, brioche (levedura), abacaxi, pessêgo.
Boca: Seco com açúcar residual perceptível, acidez alta, corpo e persistência médios, abacaxi.
Vinho refrescante e muito agradável para acompanhar entradas e pratos leves. Degustado no AK por R$ 53 (excelente custo-benefício). (4943 views)
Tasted by mdefreitas on 9/29/2011 & rated 88 points: This is a nice return to the raciness of the 2008 vintage. Lemons, limes and granny smith apples. Good, biting acidic crunch. Sweetness is nicely buffered by the structure. A bit lacking in mid palate sap, but this is superb for the price. (4890 views)
Tasted by DRS-Inc on 9/24/2011 & rated 86 points: Tasted at Wine Riot NYC 2011 at Skylight One Hanson in Brooklyn. Very sweet w/ripe green apple notes & crisp acidity. (3175 views)

Tasted by WetRock on 9/14/2011: Tasting with Ernie Loosen (The Wine Exchange, Orange, CA): Smells like lemon-lime soda. Very nice up front with just a touch of sweetness and tartness to keep it in check. A bit muddled towards the finish but damn nice for $10. (5484 views)
Tasted by MattTM on 9/13/2011: A subtle nose displaying green apple, lemon, nectarine along with some smokey and slate aromas. A touch of residual sugar on the palate, along with some pear, tart nectarine, lemon oil, and a nice tart apple finish. Not a lot of complexity, but continues to deliver for the price year after year. Seems to show more acidity than previous vintages, which I enjoyed. Good. (4634 views)
Tasted by JOsgood on 9/12/2011 & rated 88 points: My favorite QPR wine with Thai food. Lovely acidity and residual sugar. (4574 views)
Tasted by slywka7 on 9/4/2011 & rated 89 points: This is a very consistent wine year in and year out. 2010 is no different. Had some great apple, cream and pear flavors to go with a nice acidity. This went well with several hot dips that were at the picnic, balancing the spicy flavors against the sweetness in the wine. (2566 views)
Tasted by hubas on 9/3/2011 & rated 82 points: Light yellow a clear sweetness to it, hint of petroleum. A typical sweet Riesling. (2232 views)

Tasted by JOsgood on 8/14/2011 & rated 87 points: My first taste of the 2010. A pleasant wine but it lacks the minerality of the 2009. Good with food and a great value. (4833 views)
Tasted by chodur on 8/6/2011 & rated 85 points: Typical riesling, sweat but not too sweat. I think shelving a few years might relax this wine similar to older rieslings. I agree that if you are looking for something to sit out in the sun and drink this is your bottle. DR has been good rieslings each time I have drank them. (3223 views)
Tasted by nzinkgraf on 8/5/2011: green apple and glitter come to mind. first produced in 1996 from estate fruit, then '98 along with contracts. 1878, Riesling is declared the only varietal of the Middle Mosel by the Archbishop of Triers (so I was told). (4628 views)
Tasted by dsgris on 7/29/2011 & rated 89 points: Clear, bold fruit and acid with residual sugar for a very nice sweet/sour balance. (3278 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 7/27/2011: 100% riesling, 100% slate, a touch of petrol. firne (fer-num) old pottery has an old clay smell, old copper or old cubbards have this smell, it is mainly a word for something being old. The word has a special association with and old sous bois smell of a Riesling.

Knackeig -- a word for crutch -- a nice bitey acidity. A nice bite like a frankfuter or wurtz. (4643 views)
Tasted by konquest on 7/24/2011 & rated 86 points: Residual sugar a bit too much for me. Or not enough, depeding on the context. Still, balance was a bit off for me on this one. (4546 views)
Tasted by joshwoodward on 7/12/2011 & rated 89 points: Popped and poured. Delicious as usual. Seems very similar to the last two vintages, which is a good thing. Nice acid, a hint of sweetness, easy to pound. $13 (4478 views)
Tasted by Billigan on 7/7/2011 & rated 89 points: Agree with all the previous tasters. This is the most refreshing, racy rendition I've had yet of this consistently great wine. Went fabulously with Indian food. A super QPR. (4857 views)
Tasted by Coupe 60 on 6/29/2011 & rated 89 points: crisper and drier than past vintages, great minerality and maybe some green apple. refreshing and another great effort at a great QPR (4541 views)
Tasted by jeremy_ross on 6/27/2011 & rated 87 points: Flinty nose, nice off-dry fruit with crisp acid. Great hot weather wine. (3227 views)
Tasted by PMDias on 6/12/2011 & rated 90 points: Vintage after vintage, one of the best values in wine. The '10s, judging from this first taste, have bruising acidity as a defining characteristic, much more so than the past two vintages, and comparatively little sweetness. That they remain balanced can be credited to the almost fleshy palate of lemon and white pit fruit. The nose has some lemon drop and tart apple, with a fresh floral note. Possibly my favorite vintage of this wine to date, though I'm curious as to how it'll fare in wider opinion. (4645 views)

#2014 Vintage Notes:
2014 Vintage Report by Terry Theise
2014 Vintage Report by Wine Spectator
"My gut still tells me the Saar (and to some extent) the Ruwer are better overall in 2014 than the more storied areas of the Mosel proper, but those that spent the requisite time living in their middle-Mosel vineyards made some of the most electric and "feathery" Riesling in a long time (maybe the finest in 20 years - yes, it's true!)" - Jon Rimmerman (Of course only a very short historical memory would call the Saar and Ruwer less 'storied' than the middle Mosel - jht)

Mosel Saar Ruwer

Starting in 2007 the German wine authorities have changed labeling laws to rename all of the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer wines to just "Mosel." This puts this and other database driven sites in a difficult spot, as millions of old wine label reflect the former labeling. As described here, CellarTracker has elected to remain with the old labeling for a number of years to avoid confusion. At some point we will switch over to just "Mosel" but not for a few years at least.

#2018 Vintage Notes:
"Acid levels are relatively low throughout Riesling-growing Europe (acidification will once again be permitted in Germany – no surprise, as that’s been the case in eight of the last 10 vintages); but because malic acid was baked off or degraded by relentlessly balmy weather means, what acid remains is overwhelmingly of the efficacious tartaric sort. Extract levels are low, as one would anticipate from a growing season during which relatively little moisture was coursing through the vine’s roots and shoots. [...] Everyone is astonished how there could have been so much juice despite the drought." - David Schildknecht
"2018 is a homogenous vintage with a very high general level, below which it seldom falls [...] It leads with blossom. It is perhaps 80% delicious and 20% fascinating." - Terry Theise

#2017 Vintage Notes:
"not so friendly towards light wines" - Milkmansteve

#2016 Vintage Notes: "Overall, 2016 is a charmer of a vintage with much immediate ripe and fruity appeal, not unlike 2011 (in fresher) or 2007 (in lighter). However, 2016 is far from being homogeneous, in fact it is composed of a mosaic of vintages, a result of the freakish growing conditions. Hidden inside the vintage, there are true gems with the balance of 1997, one of the best vintages ever, 2002 or even 2008. The bulk of the harvest was brought in with refreshingly moderate sugar levels. Overall, the Saar and Ruwer produced slightly fresher wines than the Middle Mosel but there are great differences between Estates. The good harvest conditions allowed for some Auslese, little BA and even TBA wines, but some remarkably pure and fruity Eiswein.
In general, 2016 offers the opportunity to acquire Riesling with great immediate ripe appeal: The vintage is a true charmer. At the top, 2016 is one of the most exciting and elegantly balanced vintage since the 1990s and well-worth stocking up for cellaring! In particular, we urge our readers to literally plunge onto the finest Kabinett and Spätlese: These are some of the most exciting and classic we have ever tasted. 2016 looks also set to become a major vintage for dry Riesling, provided the aromatics are not overripe. Lovers of dessert wines will find much to love in 2016 as the Auslese are pure and the Eiswein are gorgeously fruity. They should however also keep an eye open for the remaining stunning noble-sweet wines from 2015 which are still available here and there." - Mosel Fines Wines, No. 36, July 2017

#2014 Vintage Notes:
"The heterogeneity of the 2014 vintage carries over onto the aging process. The top wines start to close down, as one would expect from these wines which are a remake of those from the 1990s. The wines affected by gin, saffron and mushroom flavors are still comparatively open and offer a not unattractive Scheurebe styled fruit opulence. We would opt to drink up these lesser wines except for the odd bottle and bury the little treasures of the vintage deep into the cellar." - Mosel Fines Wines, No. 30, March 2016

#2013 Vintage Notes:
"The fruity-styled 2013 wines have firmed up significantly since last year and start to show signs of closing down, making the underlying acidity seemingly sharp and out of balance. The better dry wines have come out of their early armor of smoke and tannin but the acidity may prove quite challenging. Quite frankly, except for some smaller bottlings, this is a vintage to lay down and wait." - Mosel Fines Wines, No. 27, March 2015

#2012 Vintage Notes:
"The 2012 wines have put on some flesh and go through a 'fattier' phase which is not unlike what the 2007 went through at the same period. However, the zestier acidity cuts through this 'weight' and makes the wines thoroughly enjoyable at this early stage. In particular the fruity Kabinett and Spatlese as well as the off-dry and dry wines offer much pleasure. We expect these wines to close down over the coming year or two. Enjoy while it lasts!" - Mosel Fines Wines, No. 27, March 2015

#2011 Vintage Notes:
"A bit to our surprise, the 2011 wines have shut down and go through a quite difficult and muted phase now. Their low acidity combined with their maturity makes them feel rich, opulent and often bulky, and thus not really enjoyable. We expect that these will need at least a decade to integrate their sweetness and gain in harmony. The only exception is the dry wines, whose low acidity makes for great food companionship." - Mosel Fines Wines, No. 27, March 2015

#2010 Vintage Notes:
"After a mellower period in 2012, many 2010 wines have firmed up and developed a stronger smoky side. However, most continue to shine through their fruit opulence, structure and deliciously zesty but ripe acidity. This suits in particular the off-dry bottlings, which have more charm than the legally dry wines. Will these wines close down? Actually, the softening acidity makes us wonder now but it also provides further evidence that these wines will turn out harmonious after all." - Mosel Fines Wines, No. 27, March 2015

#2009 Vintage Notes:
"Most 2009 wines have closed down, which accentuates their round and soft side forward. Many can still be quite enjoyable but the times of primary fruit with its attractive aromatic expression and a generous acidic kick are now over. Except for the dry wines, we would definitely recommend keeping your hands off any bottle in your cellar and possibly buying more wines from this vintage on the market as these are true gems in the making." - Mosel Fines Wines, No. 27, March 2015
