Tasted by 32lakeviewwine on 1/29/2023 & rated 91 points: Strong apple flavor. Zero dosage. Beautiful pairing with hamachi crude with fuji apple (631 views)
Tasted by merlotsmile on 1/26/2023 & rated 89 points: Vinminnen (668 views)
Tasted by dcwino on 4/21/2022 & rated 92 points: 2022 Judgement of Chevy Chase (R & N's residence): En Magnum. Perfectly mature nose displaying ripe yellow fruit, baked apple, apple, brioche, oxidized apple peel, marzipan, sweet spices and mineral. Excellent concentration, nicely layered ripe yellow fruit, fine abundant mousse, good balance and precision, bright acidity and limestone mineral, and a medium to long ripe yellow fruit driven finish withs sweet spices at the end. This is an oxidative style of Champagne that is drinking nicely. (1828 views)
Tasted by Harley1199 on 10/3/2021: By the glass. Champagnes of this family house I have tasted a few and this 100% chardonnay is not the best. Yet it is offered light and appetizing in style, with a dosage of 5 gr. The palate stands out for its creamy texture (almost half of the blend comes from reserve wines) which ends in a sharp finish. Recognizable style indeed but, from my point of view, lacking in finesse in the mouth and elegance on the nose.

(1670 views)
Tasted by Orange Tsian on 9/28/2021 & rated 90 points: 香气比较干净匀称,苹果泥、柠檬、葡萄柚和轻微黄杏等果味,表现比较有活力,中后段带些面包,有点蓬松感,好像有点粉笔烟尘。入口酸度高且明亮,整体不拖沓,青苹果泥,柠檬慕斯,带轻微氧化,并有面包、淡奶油和些许坚果油的味道。90/100 (1520 views)
Tasted by Argrath on 5/18/2019 & rated 90 points: (Blind tasting)
Medium-fullish, quite deep nose. Apple, slightly herbaceous, flowery style. Some mineral, yeast and malo-notes.
Medium body, very apply, almost brittish cider-style. Ripe and with good balance with fresh, high acidity. Ends with a fat malo-note. Youthful and with good complexity. (1941 views)
Tasted by osordal on 9/5/2018 & rated 90 points: A beautiful and vibrant NV champagne. Classic Bdb nose and really nice balance and mousse. Not so long lived, but good value (2324 views)
Tasted by PacoHigon on 6/16/2018: Dorado. Nariz expresiva, con toques de galleta maria, algo de frutos secos, recuerdos florales y un fondo de fruta blanca compotada. En boca tiene buen ataque, carácter maduro, cremoso, con excelente acidez, largo y bien definido. (2319 views)

Tasted by MartyL on 1/1/2015 & rated 87 points: Nice enough Blanc de blancs, but it just seemed a little tired -- certainly not the same gorgeous wine it was on release. Do keep in mind this was a 2004 disgorgement opened about 10 years later----While in my experience that little trick usually works wonders with good NV champagne, sometimes it doesn't pan out.  Tasted by Edson Santos on 9/2/2013 & rated 95 points: The NV (2007) Brut Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru Nature Terre de Vertus is another fabulous wine loaded with impeccable pedigree and sheer class. It is a rich, vinous Champagne that completely covers the palate with layers of intense fruit. This is a more linear, focused style than the NV Premier Cru. White peaches, flowers and chalk are some of the notes that wrap around the finish. The Terre de Vertus is 10% Chardonnay from Les Barillers and Les Faucherets, both naturally in Vertus. The wine was vinified and aged in neutral oak, and bottled with no dosage. This is Lot # LTDV71210. Disgorged December 2010. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2017.

Biodynamic farming and non-interventionalist winemaking are at the heart of Pierre and Sophie Larmandier’s impeccably run domaine. The wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts, large neutral casks are increasingly favored and bottling is done with no fining or filtration. These are some of the purest, most impeccable wines being made in Champagne today. (4020 views)
Tasted by Libiamo! on 7/3/2013 & rated 90 points: Medium lemon-green that belies its age (mine is bought in 2009) and intensity. On the nose, notes of bread, yeast, brioche, hint of mushroom. Very dry (very low or zero dosage?) vinous, long finish with a mineral edge and a touch of caramel. Slightly austere on the palate for my taste, but with great precision. (3564 views)
Tasted by Andre-Raafs on 5/31/2013 & rated 91 points: Value for money! Goud geel van kleur, aroma's van zoete appels, limoen en toast. Frisse zuren en een intens lange afdronk (3626 views)

Tasted by mikeaukenbals on 3/23/2013 & rated 91 points: solid bubbles for under $50. a couple others i'd prefer if buying retail but a solid choice if its one of the options on a restaurant list. (3702 views)
Tasted by MattTM on 2/22/2013: Tons of red apple notes on the nose, along with aromas of lemon, candied ginger, toast, and a hint of tart green apple. Baked red apples continue through to the palate, as well as plenty of ginger spice, fresh lemon juice, lime zest, Bartlet pear, and toast. This has quite an aggressive mousse, with a long length finish ending on notes of ginger and red apple. Plenty of acidity is present here to help balanced out the richness from the strong showing of red apple. Very good (3072 views)
Tasted by CamWheeler on 1/27/2013 & rated 90 points: Very fresh and crisp green apple and pear with some light white florals.
The acid sizzles on the palate. This is very good in that ultra clean and fresh style. (1962 views)
Tasted by Weston3220 on 12/6/2012: Trialo Champagne Tasting 2012 (Trialto Office): high ripeness of fruit Lime/Lemon, there is some 'RS" but could be fruit ripeness and I think it will do well with bottle age for sure it almost screams let me sit in bottle for couple years (4293 views)

Tasted by Tartiflette on 10/22/2012 & rated 88 points: (Orangeriet, Copenhagen) Not as impressive as last time I tasted it. This was evidently very fresh, since there was way too many bubbles in for my palate. Too much of a foamy feeling. Otherwise nice BdB with good minerality. (3349 views)
Tasted by Antti on 8/15/2012: No idea of the disgorgement date as I had this in a recently opened restaurant. Very pleasant BdB nose with apples, cream, minerality and flowers. Also bright and smooth in the mouth, nicely balanced and thoroughly enjoyable. (3866 views)
Tasted by godx on 7/10/2012 & rated 90 points: Italy 2012 - Piemonte; 7/8/2012-7/14/2012 (La Morra): Drank at Centro Storico in Serralunga. Lovely nose of toast, yeast, citrus and red apple. A round entry leads to a rich mouthfeel with a soft mousse and citrus and yeasty flavours. There’s tons of acidity here with a long yeast and mineral laden finish. Drink or hold. Excellent. Nice tropical hints on the nose with lots of crushed chalk and minerals showing.
Palate had an initial push of pineapple and ripe apple with a little cream then huge amounts of minerals rush in and keep it from being sweet at all.
Great cut and acidity, was very impressed and this went very well with our amazing dinner. (4011 views)
Tasted by soyhead on 3/16/2012 & rated 91 points: last of three bottles - where did they all go? very much a mineral driven champagne, limited in my notes otherwise, but my parting thought was where to get more of these... (3532 views)

Tasted by Sleepy Dave on 2/25/2012 & rated 92 points: Alcohol :: 12%
Popped and poured. A little bit tight at first, with pure mineral complexity and underlying white fruits. Slowly opened up in the glass, expressive but still a tad restraint on both nose and palate. Green apple, white peach, grape fruits intermixed with huge mineral, crushed stone at the background all wrapped in a highly focus package. This has good intensity and power but have the restraint of a BDB and great focus, crystal clear and pure. Mineral driven with layer of intense white fruits and a little touch of nuttiness. I really like the transparency, energy and elegance here. Long intense finish with detail. Delicious. (3518 views)

Blanc de Blanc lots of acidity and zinginess with a nice dash of toasiness but the freshness/acidity was the main feature of this wine (3394 views)
Tasted by oolah on 1/1/2012 & rated 92 points: A really lovely champagne. Scared me at first because it seemed slightly oxidized on opening, but that faded within a few minutes. Yeasty, citrus-y and sharp. Delicious. Will buy again. (3277 views)

Tasted by RayOB on 8/29/2011 & rated 91 points: A Horizontal Champagne Tasting of Moutard & Others in Bordeaux of all places

Isn't it weird you go to a wine tasting and you have the same champagne as you had a couple of nights ago

So I rested this time 91 and last time 90 - no way is my palate that good

Nice crisp Champagne that you bring to any party and people will be happy to see you.

Did I mention it's a Chardonnay with a good nose, lovely bubbles (small to medium) and a crisp clean taste (3173 views)
Tasted by RayOB on 8/26/2011 & rated 90 points: Lovely and crisp but nothing amazing (3295 views)
Tasted by 5laton on 8/22/2011: This was delicious, with lovely white truffle and cool-toned citrus aromatics, and just enough leesy richness on the palate. Lost some verve as it warmed in the glass, but a fresh refill from the ice bucket brought that firm backbone back into focus. Good value and a fine match for Delfina's grilled baby squid with white beans. (3175 views)
Tasted by bopal on 8/9/2011: Yeast on the nose - like sniffing a freshly-baked baguette. Lively mousse. Juicy lifted citrus fruit at mid-palate - I think they got the dosage just right on this one - along with a complex saline/chalky mineral quality at the finish. Superb Champagne, can’t ask for anything better from a NV. (3108 views)

Tasted by GraemeBell on 4/12/2011 & rated 91 points: Very good grower champagne. Have had this bottle for almost 4 years and it has really softened into a luscious great food wine. It has lost the acidity and citrus notes of its youth and with that the minerality but now it is more elegant and a bit fuller. (3010 views)

Tasted by Vino_Divine on 1/22/2011 & rated 89 points: Youthful, primary aromas. Floral high tones mingle with toast and baked apple.  Tasted by kuumies on 12/18/2010 & rated 92 points: Amazing nose: lemon, vanilla and toast of the most beautiful kind. Strong but still gentle acidity, with bubbles lasting for what seems like ½forever. Surprisingly rich and full bodied for a BdB. Incredibly intense and serious stuff, while at the same time being very enjoyable and drinkable. Delicious both just by itself and alongside smoked salmon. Similar to the Charme de Jean-Paul Brun I had couple weeks ago while having a lot firmer structure and stronger acidity, both adding to aging potential I guess. Rare to call a Champagne a great value but considering how many much lesser sparklers there in Finland at this price range this is a steal. (3175 views)
Tasted by stocksandbondage on 12/17/2010 & rated 93 points: Light golden hue. Abundant, pin point bubbles. Inviting scents of brioche, almond paste and white peach. Creamy acidity and luscious flavors of lemon creme and granny smith apple. Olaroso Sherry and toasted bread in the white peach driven close. A delightful surprise in that it delivered flavors, complexity and finesse beyond what I expected for the price. (3037 views)

It's been a while since I've had some champagne and my palate is a little out of whack but this was immensely enjoyed with the first buta nabe of the season. Not sure it justifies the increase in price over other RM's (ie. Diebolt-Vallois, Pierre Peters, etc.). Happy three week anniversary, Mariko. Lot 25913-01. (3174 views)

Tasted by cibreo on 12/31/2009 & rated 90 points: Served as an aperatif and with the first course of a New Year's Eve dinner at home - a salad of slightly bitter greens, shaved fennel, green apple, roasted hazelnuts, crispy pork belly and jamon, verjuice, mustard and chervil. Lovely floral nose. Medium/fine bubbles. In the mouth, green apples and flowers balanced with minerals which provided an almost savoury note. The wine had enough acidity to cut against the crispy pork and jamon, while the appley/floral notes complimented the greens. The wine is very dry with a long finish. Elegant yet lively. Really delicious. (3304 views)

Tasted by jwsmith on 5/25/2009 & rated 93 points: Pure elegance in a glass and smoke and chocolate nose. peach lemon, wet stone finish. Wow and my favorite of the Larmandier line up simply a great value. Two bottles. (4196 views)
Tasted by brooklynguy on 5/23/2009 & rated 94 points: this bottle was disgorged in June of 2005 and is based on grapes grown in 2002. It was back when Thiese imported the wine, before Dressner got it. Mt friend somehow got a bottle and it was well stored, and we opened it the other night as an aperitif, and it was without question the finest Blanc de Blancs I've drank in a long time. Beautifully mature nose, broad, refined, pure, fresh. Very mineral still, and the fruit is linear and citric, but there are mature savory notes too and it is just a gorgeous nose. The palate is super clean and fine, with great depth, and the parts meet and dissolve together at the back of the tongue. Just gorgeous. If there relly were the question, "is it worthwhile to cellar Champagne," this bottle more than answered it for me. (4329 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 5/22/2009: As with the last bottle, you really get a lot of citrus from this wine, but today I could have sworn this had some Pinot Noir in the blend, as it also had a dark fruit undertone. Again, very well balanced with minimal sweetness, good freshness, and altogether very enjoyable. (4192 views)
Tasted by Rupert on 5/2/2009 & rated 90 points: Bready, earthy, very dry on entry, but then the richness comes through and it makes a vibrant mouthful (3691 views)
Tasted by tanglenet on 3/8/2009: Neal - Lewelling Dinner Sunday March 8th, Twist in Campbell (Campbell, CA): Opened not decanted. Served and tasted over 3-4 hours. Quick notes: super dark and nutty notes; very clean and fresh. Good. (4506 views)
Tasted by soyhead on 2/26/2009 & rated 93 points: great nose of toast and almond. Mouth -almond and grapefruit. Terrific long tart finish. (3634 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 2/22/2009: Very forward orange blossom character with secondary apple and spice (cinnamon and clove) playing a supporting role. Modest dosage. Very fresh. Terrific food wine. (3530 views)
Tasted by soyhead on 2/6/2009 & rated 92 points: mouth - crisp refreshing, nutty midpalate and marzipan, hint of anise. (3262 views)
Tasted by henrychinaski on 1/22/2009 & rated 93 points: Day one it was closed and bizarre. Three days later it is open and stunning. A precise wine with enormous depth and intensity. Beautiful nose. Delicious. (3229 views)
Tasted by Haltermr on 1/17/2009 flawed bottle: Very, very reticient nose with strong mineral, lemon, and apple. Quite linear, with an uncertain (for me) chemical smell. Palate is textured and long...quite nice. I suspect a flawed bottle. (2971 views)
Tasted by tgr1 on 1/15/2009 & rated 86 points: Cellared for a couple of years after being bought direct from the cellar.Yeasty and biscuity, persistent mousse. Long but surprisingly light on minerals. Not sure what to make of this, will try another soon (2965 views)
Tasted by jjmabaseb on 12/31/2008 & rated 91 points: Honey and apples for days and days; very delicious (2829 views)
Tasted by Junior on 12/31/2008: Fresh and minerally but also very giving. Lemons and honey on the nose and palate and then, with just a few minutes of air, a honey toast that grows and deepens...for hours. I tasted the last bit of this the next morning, barely cool, still bubbly, and it was phenomenal: rich and deep, fruitier and yeastier, with that zesty edge. I did not check the disgorgement date, if there is one on the bottle, but this was bought in 12/2007. Lovely, lovely wine. (2991 views)
Tasted by Rupert on 10/9/2008 & rated 89 points: At Pied à Terre: vigorous, fresh, fine bubbles, straightforward but elegant (2727 views)
Tasted by brooklynguy on 9/27/2008 & rated 90 points: incredibly delicate and powerful at the same time. soft citrus, nuts, and very mineral driven, with an inner core of intensity, very focused. lovely wine. (2866 views)
Tasted by marc d on 7/26/2008: Very nice right now. Blend of some apple fruit and baked bread. This has improved a lot from a bottle opened 2 years ago, the acidity has settled down some, and the flavors have broadened out. (2747 views)
Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 7/24/2008 & rated 88 points: Tightly wound, not very expressive but lots of finesse, nutty, vivacious. (1946 views)
Tasted by Winetex on 6/24/2008 flawed bottle: Corked; Purchased from the Austin Wine Merchant and returned. (2750 views)
Tasted by ews3 on 6/21/2008 & rated 81 points: disappointing -- off flavors, but i do not believe the bottle was flawed. green, not enough acid, and some sour notes. some red apple was there, perhaps more of a crabapple (2844 views)
Tasted by JFish on 5/21/2008: Taken to dinner with Brian Loring. Bottle was disgorged in 2002. Drinking very well. Yeast, minerals and some honeyed citrus. (2947 views)
Tasted by JFish on 3/22/2008: IIRC, disgorged in 2002. Great minerality with a touch of honey and yeast. Drinking very nicely. (2820 views)
Tasted by Zweder on 2/11/2008 & rated 88 points: Fresh, minerals, good citrus. Good balance and mousse. Good buy. (2891 views)
Tasted by Junior on 1/1/2008: This wine is pale in color and light and lemony crisp. Zesty! It has good, but not overbearing acidity, and the wine benefited from time in the glass. Perhaps would have benefited from a bit more time in the bottle as well? Refreshing. (2739 views)
Tasted by StewartWent on 12/29/2007 & rated 89 points: 100% chardonnay from Vertus (premier cru) and Cramant, Avize and Oger (all grand cru). Sharp, dry, smokey. Very well balanced with a biscuit-like finish. (2819 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 12/24/2007: Pale, lean, green apple character. Light, clean, crisp Blancs de Blancs without being austere. You really taste the Chardonnay here. (2856 views)
Tasted by Terkel on 11/13/2007 & rated 90 points: Biodynamic wines (FOF): Light straw yellow color. The nose is fresh with lemon, green apples and almonds. On the palate it is similar to the nose, with lemon and green apples. Very creamy, with small, but long lived bubbles. Good, lively acidity makes sure this Champagne is very fresh and refreshing. (3183 views)
Tasted by The Klipper on 10/13/2007 & rated 90 points: June 05 disgorgement, and the extra time on cork benefits no NV that I know more. The minimal dosage of Larmandier-Bernier's wine indeed begs the softening effects of time. As bready (but not yeasty) a nose as I've smelled in this bottling, with a pinch of quinine and faint crushed white powder. The floral aspect is rather on the green side, with more citrus leaf than fruit. Beautiful balance of acid, and a modest finish, on a surprisingly grainy and beefy wave of Chardonnay. (3758 views)
Tasted by Vinho on 9/27/2007: Final de uma garrafa aberta no dia anterior e conservada em geladeira, com tampa apropriada. Querosene, mineral, tostado, chá verde e limão siciliano. Corpo levíssimo, média fruta e acidez moderada. Curto. Talvez tenha sido prejudicado pelo tempo em que a garrafa ficou aberta. O/E. 88-89pts. (3199 views)
Tasted by MartyL on 1/1/2007: Like sparkling white Burgundy. Outstanding minerality and acidity with a little bit of Chardonnay opulence to balance things out. A real beauty and something to seek out if you like Blanc de Blanc Champagne. (2880 views)
Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 12/31/2006 & rated 92 points: From Oger, Avize, Cramant, Chouilly and Vertus. Beautifully pure, dry and stylish, vinous, lovely yellow fruit, chalky minerality, fresh as mountain water, clearly young and fresh but there are hints of nuts and brioche too. A wine of finesse. (2391 views)
Tasted by marc d on 11/4/2006: Had a crushed oyster shell nose, fine mousse, very dry and almost austere. The sharpness in the mouth was tamed a little with a triple cream brie.

There was about a glass and a half left the next day that still had lively bubbles. The nose still shows that outstanding oyster shell minerality, but now the wine is not as taut and is showing a little fruit, something like under ripe pineapple and green apple. This will definitely benefit from cellar time. (2864 views)
Tasted by SimonG on 7/24/2006: Pale. Good mousse. Zesty, lemony nose. Chalky. Good length. Good aperitif. Worth buying again. (2834 views)
Tasted by basis on 6/16/2005: Hart Davis Hart Champagne Tasting (Pops for Champagne, Chicago, IL): Very light-bodied and effervescent. Closed nose, but pleasant, creamy, and primary, on the palate, without being overly apple/pear dominated. Great aperitif. (4105 views)
Tasted by Winetex on 8/1/2004 & rated 87 points: Toasty, medium mousse and dry on the finish. Good quality but not charming. (3304 views)
Tasted by JeffGMorris on 6/14/2004 & rated 87 points: Tasted at Biodynmic growers tasting NYC. All Chardonnay. Limited bubbles apparent in the glass but the bubbles explode on the palate. Filled with vanilla and strawberry flavors. (2960 views)
Tasted by futronic on 12/26/2002 & rated 90 points: Pale straw yellow colour with aromas of apple and pear. Fine bubbles with bread dough, green tea, and cream. Nice weight on the wine and has a lingering finish. Recommended. (3029 views)
Tasted by futronic on 9/23/2002 & rated 90 points: Nice fine bubbles, pale yellow. Apple, pear, and a bit of pineapple on the nose. Nice mouthfeel, follows from nose with apple and pineapple. Drink now. (2980 views)

Larmandier-Bernier

Producer website

Pierre Larmandier shares a similar philosophy to that of Francois Egly of Egly-Ouriet. Working only with natural yeasts the influence of 'terroir' is all important to the style of his wines, so much so that he uses a minimum 'dosage' (if at all) so as not to mask the wines natural characteristics. Wines are made only from their own 15 hectares of vines, which are an average 33 years old. His holdings are spread across the Cotes des Blancs in the grand crus villages of Cramant, Chouilly, Oger and Avize, and the premier cru of Vertus. There are around fifty separate parcels, all but three of which (representing 0.5 hectares) are farmed using non-officially certified Biodynamic methods.

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
