Well-balanced with nice tannins and aroma/taste of cloves. Nice body and finish. Went well with my manicotti. An excellent addition to the Spanish varietals by Bokisch at an excellent value (2409 views) | | Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 6/23/2013 & rated 91 points: Dark red violet color; tart cherry, dried red fruit, ripe cranberry nose; tasty, tart cherry, dried red fruit, ripe cranberry palate; medium-plus finish (14.5% alcohol) (238 views) | | Tasted by VeniceCalif on 6/12/2013 & rated 90 points: Decanted 1 hr. ahead. Medium-dark ruby color. Nice nose of plums with pine notes, oak and roasting meat. Pleasant on the palate, not tart but not soft, medium-bodied. Coffee flavors join the above aromatics. Finishes well with light, drying tannins. This is a fine bottle of unusual juice. Though it may improve over the short term, it's very approachable now, with appealing earthy traits. Excellent QPR at $21. | Bokisch Vineyards Producer websiteUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Central Valley The Central California Winegrowers (Official site) | Central Valley (California Wine Institute)Lodi Lodi Woodbridge Winegrape Commission | Lodi District Grape Growers Association |
