Tasted by McKraftyWino on 12/25/2014 & rated 97 points: on a night with a dozen or so 2003's this one was one of the best (Shafer Hillside Select the other 'best')
all wines from 2003 took a while in the glass to evolve, some required decanting.
This bottle (and the Shafer) stood out and were noticed! (934 views)
Tasted by wdb001 on 12/24/2012 & rated 96 points: Double decanted and put back in cellar for a few hours. Served with standing rib roast, which was a wonderful combination. Dark purple color with no signs of bricking. Notes of blackberries, cassis, cedar and a hint of dark chocolate. Beautiful finish with fully integrated tannins. Delicious. It is drinking well now but has many years before reaching maturity. (3134 views)
Tasted by mcneil7 on 9/20/2012 & rated 95 points: Excellent wine great nose of fruit with a hint of blueberry. (3163 views)
Tasted by mcneil7 on 4/17/2011 & rated 96 points: Deep in color, nose at first was heavy with spices, chocolate and heat. After being opened for half hour the nose became more defined with dark cherry, spices, choclate, a hint of blue berry. On the palate it was full flavored good structure with medium tannins an excellent wine (4517 views)
Tasted by Dr. Pato on 2/21/2011 & rated 95 points: Grapey sweet with no noticeable tannic bite. (4528 views)
Tasted by pdemaio on 10/5/2010 & rated 97 points: huge and lovely. a bit medicinal along with the berries and mocha you expect. Beautifiul (4550 views)
Tasted by wallstreet on 8/29/2010 & rated 92 points: A very good bottle of wine. This followed a Phelps 1997 Insignia. The Insignia was better. What I liked about the Hundred Acre was its complexity . It is from a tough year, but the wine showed well and could have benefited from a longer decant time. It was a treat and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This will improve over the next 4-5 years at least and probably will be at its peak in 5-10 years from now. (2877 views)
Tasted by Serge Birbrair on 8/29/2010: despite drycab's warning: "You won't like it", I surely did, as wine complimented beef just perfectly. Being poured after 1997 Insignia didn't compliment this youngster one single bit. It will be interesting to revisit this wine 5 years from now. (2873 views)
Tasted by drycab on 8/29/2010: Popped, decanted and consumed. Didn't do the wine any justice as it was a bit tannic but its quality came through in spades. 1 left and it'll stay in the cellar for a few more years as this last bottle had more than enough fruit, acid and tannins for a longer bottle life. (2976 views)
Tasted by shiel on 7/11/2010 & rated 99 points: California Cabernet cannot get any better. There is actually a sweetness to this wine that is so different and complex its just addicting. If you ever have the chance, buy this wine...over and over. (1758 views)
Tasted by shiel on 5/2/2010 & rated 97 points: This wine is so special. It is probably the best California Cabernet of this Century. The stong fruit and balance oak and tannis makes this wine intoxicating. Layer and layer of flavor. (1513 views)
Tasted by last chance on 3/20/2010 & rated 94 points: Blind Cab Tasting: Tasted blind. This followed the 06 Schrader CCS - Tough act to follow for any wine. I can't help but think that it may have shown better if it wasn't right after the Schrader. The Kayli Morgan showed a dark chocolate note that was quite different from the milk chocolate note in the Schrader. That took a while to get used to... This wine had nice dark fruit flavors with the dark chocolate gaining in intensity through the long finish. (3298 views)
Tasted by WVWine on 2/6/2010 & rated 95 points: Drank during the Snow Storm of 2010. Wonderful wine. Color was not that dark, faded purple on the edges. Smells of violets, chocolate and licorace (at times). Great long taste on the tongue. (3201 views)
Tasted by txfireman on 1/4/2010 & rated 94 points: Tasted over 6 hours. Nose is oak, vanilla, pepper. Drank smooth. About the 4-5th hour developed into sweet baby corn...red beets...finished like fresh 100 dollar bills off the presses. I'm not joking either. (3365 views)
Tasted by jhngo on 1/1/2010 & rated 90 points: Hot high toned wine. lacks the body and power expect. (3388 views)
Tasted by tanglenet on 8/20/2009: Opened and decanted about an hour. Paired with a filet mignon at Izzy's Chop House in Corte Madera. Black bramble fruit on the nose. Gobs of chocolate, mocha, and vanilla and vanilla, mocha and chocolate on the palate. The wine is almost a dessert in itself it is so rich and lush. Ends with a semi-dry, sweet orange finish. Very Good. (3548 views)
Tasted by Niagara on 7/9/2009 & rated 90 points: More restraint than the last bottle, but still a bullying sort of wine. (3773 views)
Tasted by rsepulve on 5/2/2009 & rated 95 points: The usual panoply of aromas and flavors: sweet dark fruit, vanilla, chocolate, espresso, earth, cedar, licorice, and violets. Creamy and dense but energetic with incredible length and persistence. A stunningly good wine. One of my favorite '03 CA Cabs. (3811 views)
Tasted by mcneil7 on 3/7/2009 flawed bottle: wonderful wine but needs more time in the botle. Good nose with oak and spice notes jammy cherry, blueberry notes. taste is balanced with good flavors of spice, earth long limger (3806 views)
Tasted by Niagara on 1/19/2009 & rated 87 points: Just too much of everything -- too much jam, 15.9% alcohol, body like heavy cream keeping it all in the mouth too long. More than once we found ourselves reaching for a glass of water to wash it down. All that would be quite tolerable in a wine a fifth of the price, but at this level such heavy-handedness was inexcusable. Huge in every way, including disappointment. (3948 views)
Tasted by ipp on 1/17/2009 & rated 93 points: heavy, full bodied red ... no as much richness or fruit as I would have thought, but very weighty (619 views)
Tasted by jivey on 6/19/2008 & rated 94 points: Cherry, anise, licorice, great pallet with low acidity and mouthwatering tannins on the finish. Very approachable. (4059 views)
Tasted by kstoddard on 6/18/2008 & rated 87 points: Dave Nerland's California Cult Tasting (Backstreet Wine Salon, Phoenix): Blueberries on the nose. Tasting of blackberry, earth and leather. Full bodied. Very rich with teeth gripping tannins. Loads of charred oak. Closed monolithic finish. My least favorite of the 2001-2004 flight. (4598 views)
Tasted by wcacern on 5/17/2008 & rated 92 points: Extreme CULT Cabernet (Sam & Harry's Restaurant @ Newport Beach Marriott sponsored by LearnAboutWine): 1005 cab. sav. veggie, tar, molasses, licorice, cedar, olives, cocoa, vanilla, oak, fresh plum, cherry, cassis, spicy pepper, even hints of pickles and bandaids. firm dry dusty tannins. (4328 views)
Tasted by Acohen on 4/13/2008 & rated 95 points: Huge and wonderful with great fruit and finish. Currant and berry with great structure and delicious finish (1879 views)

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in over 100 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.
