Tasted by Colorado Native 3G on 1/27/2024 & rated 91 points: Smooth, cherry dominance, balanced and enjoyable wine with medium long finish. (119 views)
Tasted by Doblk on 3/8/2019 & rated 91 points: Perhaps not wholly integrated but another nice showing from Ridge. Fruit and plenty of alcohol, but not jammy or sweet to my palate. Nice depth and an almost Italian acidity. Drinking well, perhaps won’t improve but should keep some years more. (992 views)
Tasted by missionpk on 8/3/2018: The 15.4% alcohol is obvious, but, after a bit of air, the fruit and tannins are still strong enough to make it interesting. Still tastes like a basic Ridge Zin with some extra heat. (1281 views)
Tasted by casjf on 1/12/2018 & rated 93 points: Dan served to poker game w jambalaya. Huge hit! Berry flavors. Could drink even later. (1323 views)
Tasted by egaible on 9/17/2017 & rated 91 points: Pretty great for a zin. Not overwhelmed by alcohol, retaining some nuance not lost to jam. Really OK, some tannins tasted, a slight bit of oak (but not too much), fruit is apparent. No bricking so I suspect this wine will stand another 3-4 years of cellaring if called on to so be stored. Pepper. Did I mention pepper? Slight pepper per a medium-bodied zin's best characteristic, IMHO. (1592 views)
Tasted by casjf on 8/11/2017 & rated 91 points: Drinking well now. Classic Ridge! (1505 views)
 Tasted by wagging_tail on 9/6/2015 & rated 91 points: Drinking great now..opened for 1hr ahead (1653 views)
Tasted by bjschmitt on 8/2/2015 & rated 90 points: With grilled strip steak and roast root vegtables.
Purple, still almost opaque.
Nice nose, spice (almost a sweet spice) with a touch of cherry/plum and maybe some clove in the background.
Dry, full body, smooth tannin, some acid, a touch of raisin, medium finish. The wine opened nicely with some time. (1400 views)
Tasted by H2OGEO on 4/4/2015 & rated 85 points: This was not as good as I expected, even after being in a decanter. It was still rather tight and not well balanced. (1404 views)
Tasted by Brian Love on 1/12/2015 & rated 91 points: Very well integrated medium bodied zin. Has aged very well. (1288 views)
Tasted by 41hijinx on 9/17/2014 & rated 89 points: 81% Zinfandel, 19% Carignane. Excellent color in glass with fading rims. Nice, spicy nose. Good body with ripe fruit on palate. Fruit supports 15.4% alcohol as usual with Ridge Zins. Not too complex but a solid wine. At peak so drink up. No sediment. (1521 views)
Tasted by desler on 9/4/2014 & rated 89 points: very mature Zin. great drinking now (1029 views)
Tasted by JM_MadTown on 8/5/2014 & rated 89 points: The wine has an orange rim, but a bright red center. On the palate there are notes of bramble, and juicy blackberries and blueberries. But it is fully mature and at its apogee for drinking. (1046 views)
Tasted by moxielady on 7/30/2014 & rated 90 points: Cherries, bright fruit, smooth and earthy tannins with balanced acid. Great w pasta and red sauce (894 views)
Tasted by sbfern on 6/29/2014 & rated 91 points: The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like black currant (cassis), blackberry, raisin, mushroom, mineral, bark and black pepper. It tastes like red currant, blackberry, fig, raisin, molasses, tea, black pepper, mushroom, plum and cherry. The body is medium. The wine has polished texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity. (868 views)
Tasted by JM_MadTown on 5/17/2014 & rated 89 points: A very nice and typical Zinfandal from Ridge. The color seemed to be a little lighter than other Ridge Zins, but it was still a bright red. It is fully mature and any remaining bottles should not linger too much longer in one's cellar. Also, the alcohol level, 15.4% for this one, seems to be well integrated. (726 views)
Tasted by bjschmitt on 2/22/2014 & rated 90 points: With chuckeye steak, roast potatoes, and carrots.
Clear, almost sparkling ruby, good color to the rim.
Classic Zin nose, a little pepper lurking.
Dry, mediu body, soft tannins, very smooth, almost rich. Rasberry, touch of anise, pepper, good length. Drinking perfectly now. (832 views)
Tasted by sirwine on 12/28/2013 & rated 88 points: Earthy style of zinfandel. Didn't low me away but I liked it very much. Drink up. (911 views)
Tasted by BigTex22 on 12/20/2013 & rated 88 points: Consistent with previous note. Floral nose, a bit candied, tannic with a little heat on the back end. Ridge is such a fabulous producer, but this isn't their best showing. Drink now. GOOD. (962 views)
Tasted by Cadby on 11/17/2013 & rated 90 points: 2008 Ridge Buchignani Ranch Zinfandel +++ $28

Expected richness, generosity. Still a babe in arms.

Tasted by BigTex22 on 9/7/2013 & rated 88 points: Decanted and drank over several hours. Some tannins, and tartness. Also a sweetness to the wine. Zins aren't my favorite but as this varietal goes, pretty decent. Drink now or hold. GOOD. (1161 views)
Tasted by fredb on 8/14/2013: Medium-dark red. Slightly roasted red fruit aromas with some earth and vanilla. Palate has slightly roasted cherry, currant, and blueberry with a vanilla and raspberry jam finish. This is a tad on the ripe side, but is easily foiled by some grilled fare. Drink or hold. (1070 views)
Tasted by missionpk on 6/5/2013 & rated 88 points: Low acid; big fruit; big tannins; light on the oak, at least compared to other big Ridge wines; a bit of heat. Sort of a classic "smooth" wine that goes down very easy and doesn't have any hard edges. (1154 views)
Tasted by kosinski on 5/3/2013: Rich aroma of blackberries and warm baking spice. Jammy on the palate with a touch of underlying acidity that cuts the richness and adds complexity. Baking spice and a hint of leather as well, with fairly firm tannins lurking in the background. Nicely developed now but has the stuffing to age for quite a while yet. (1384 views)
Tasted by Night Thief on 4/1/2013 & rated 90 points: Earthy, with some coffee notes and spice. Dark fruit. Medium tannins. Quite good. (1292 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
