Tasted blind. Popped and poured, drunk over three days. Screw cap. Clear, medium golden color. Clean, medium+ intense, developing nose. Ripe stone fruit, zesty bitter notes, very mineral, lemon zests, herbs, pepper, smoke. Very deep, dense, complex and beautiful.
Dry, high, ripe and racy acidity. 13% abv. Lots of ripe stone fruit, herbs, zests. Wonderful tension and pressure on the palate. Very good balance, elegance and depth. Still young. Long, very mineral finish. Drinks perfectly now, but will certainly stay on this level for 3+ years. 93-94 (830 views)
Tasted by NoTrollingerPlease on 12/17/2019 & rated 93 points: A visit to Düsseldorf (Concept Riesling, Düsseldorf & Rocaille): Cear, medium golden color with an amber hue. Clean, medium+ - pronounced, developing and complex nose: Ripe apple, spices, pepper and salt, smoky, cassis, cinnamon. Intense, deep and dense. Fantastic!
On the palate dry, medium, mild acidity. 13% abv, that makes this wine a little bit hot. Medium body. Very salty and mineral, herbs, few ripe fruits, some apple, some bitterness. Lots of grip, very long, dense and deep. Beautiful wine, that will stay on this level for at least 5+ years. Great experience! 93-94 (951 views)

Tasted by m_arcon on 10/12/2018 & rated 93 points: Salty, intensive, smoky on the nose. Dill mixed with other herbs and spices, a bit of cinnamon, mustard seeds and a bit of ripe apple. Also intensive on the palate althought this St. Nikolaus also shows a certain kind of elegance. The acidity is mild, maybe a bit hot on the back end but that gets better over the evening. Not a lot of fruit on the palate. Long, slightly bitter finish. A lovely wine. (831 views)

#2014 Vintage Notes:
2014 Vintage Report by Terry Theise
2014 Vintage Report by Wine Spectator
"My gut still tells me the Saar (and to some extent) the Ruwer are better overall in 2014 than the more storied areas of the Mosel proper, but those that spent the requisite time living in their middle-Mosel vineyards made some of the most electric and "feathery" Riesling in a long time (maybe the finest in 20 years - yes, it's true!)" - Jon Rimmerman (Of course only a very short historical memory would call the Saar and Ruwer less 'storied' than the middle Mosel - jht)

Rheingau

On weinlagen.info

The small but fine wine-growing area Rheingau offers one for the culture of the vine ideal microclimate and best soil conditions. The Rhine runs uninterruptedly almost one thousand kilometres from Basel up to its muzzle into the North Sea, in a northerly direction. With a short exception - the Rheingau. The Rheingau mountains force the river to a change in direction here. The vineyards falling in this region to the south stretch really to the sun. The king of the white wines, the Riesling, finds ideal local conditions for the unfolding of his fine fruity and elegant type of vine character on the multilayered weathering grounds with loess, loam and sand additions.
