Tasted by stbraunt on 6/12/2015 & rated 93 points: Delicious and fruitful all the way through. An outstanding easy drinking Pinot. (273 views)
Tasted by Deadhead on 10/5/2014 & rated 93 points: Winner for the evening - another solid wine from a really great winery. Maybe this is the third bottle of the evening talking, but this wine was fantastic. Beautiful dark red fruits mixed with bright red fruits. The right amount acid for our palate - not tart, but as another reviewer mentioned, lip smacking. Wonderful mouth feel - silky. (1139 views)
Tasted by thebonnydooner on 8/21/2014 & rated 90 points: Again - similar to the last bottle, maybe losing a little zip, seemed a little flabby. Overall though well crafted Pinot with nice but not overpowering cherry fruit. (1364 views)
Tasted by matthewmallon on 8/2/2014 & rated 92 points: Solid wine. Opens with dark cherry flavors. Mild acidity on the mid-palate. Closes with soft plum tones. (1395 views)
Tasted by sellerscellar on 12/11/2013 & rated 91 points: Solid wine from a consistenly overachieving producer. (2414 views)
Tasted by thebonnydooner on 11/19/2013 & rated 91 points: Fragrant dark cherry nose, well balanced, ripe dark cherry and raspberry fruit, mild tannin, but good plummy cherry acidity. Nice finish. Not overly complex or drpamatic, but a nicely made and well drinking wine. (2313 views)
Tasted by gesusser on 10/26/2013 & rated 92 points: Good one + hour decant allowed this tasty pinot to open up; excellent smooth medium bodied quaff (1669 views)
Tasted by soyhead on 9/26/2013 & rated 93 points: nose - sweet and sour, salt plum, sweet tart
mouth - sappy, concentrated, zingy plums, great acidity keeps this in check from being an over the top fruit bomb. once has to admire the concentration. has a sight salty savoriness on the midpalate which is also nice, framed by pleasant tannins on the finish. a superb domestic pinot, worth seeking out. 93+ (1826 views)
Tasted by sellerscellar on 9/24/2013 & rated 92 points: Young, lively and fresh. Typical burst of bright, red fruits up front. The nose is somewhat closed off at this young stage, but started to open after an hour+. Lip-smacking acidity keeps this light. Fruit-forward, but not a fruit bomb or flabby at all. This has ageing potential for the 5-7 years...great stuff. Just entering the drinking window. Drink with a 30-60 minute decant or hold 1+ years. (1631 views)
Tasted by gesusser on 9/11/2013 & rated 91 points: Good smooth Pinot (908 views)
Tasted by theronware on 7/13/2013: Sweet black cherries and vanilla/toast. Some heat on the finish (14.1% ABV). For my palate, this is mono-dimensional and lacking interest. (1205 views)
Tasted by Anonymous on 4/29/2013: Light body with strong, clear and complex flavors. Still seems young, but beautiful with open time. (1461 views)
Tasted by Deadhead on 3/15/2013 & rated 94 points: Delicious! Beautifully balanced! (1509 views)
Tasted by brianngibson on 2/19/2013 & rated 92 points: It seems like every time I open one of Radio-Coteau's wines I ask myself, "Why am I not buying more of this?" And it really is good stuff. (1722 views)
Tasted by Diane (LI) on 2/13/2013: Pretty wine. Lots of ripe berries, light baking spices, nice finish. Young but drinking well, as long as you like a lot of fruit. To me, it was borderline, but didn't cross over to too much. (1741 views)
Tasted by jnewman77 on 12/28/2012 & rated 91 points: Very nice Sonoma pinot. Beautiful dark cherry, strawberry, and raspberry fruit with some notes of baking spice. Currently quite young with very bright acidity, but a nice food wine. Probably needs 2-3 years to really come into full swing, but the potential is beautiful. (1621 views)
Tasted by SMZ on 12/3/2012 & rated 94 points: Had with the Hansons.....loved it again. (1676 views)
Tasted by SMZ on 7/25/2012 & rated 94 points: Consistent with the last bottle I had. (2293 views)
Tasted by ecola on 5/3/2012 & rated 93 points: Soft, silky, ripe berry fruit. (2607 views)
Tasted by Johnahieb on 4/29/2012 & rated 92 points: Beautiful tart fruit, well balanced. (2617 views)
Tasted by pkbackman on 4/1/2012 & rated 90 points: This is a crazy wine, in the fact that it tastes nothing like a Pinot Noir, and especially not a California Pinot. This had Rhone blend all over it. Syrah spice and smokiness and Grenache brambly fruitiness. I kind of liked it. (2830 views)
Tasted by RobertDwyer on 2/19/2012 & rated 94 points: A beautifully balanced yet powerful and flavorful California Pinot Noir. The wine is unfined and unfiltered yet beautifully radiant in the glass. Wonderfully aromatic immediately upon opening with classic aromas and flavors of bright cherries, black tea, sweet spice, and cola. Silky mouthfeel and long finishes that stays with you long enough to want to take another sip. Tremendous stuff and a very good value at $42. Highly recommended. Enjoyed it quite a bit more than the 2009 Radio Coteau Alberigi which was dominated by orange peel. (3695 views)
Tasted by Shorepower on 2/12/2012: Modern pinot, för ung. (3025 views)
Tasted by short and confused on 2/11/2012 & rated 93 points: Wow. Much better than my first bottle tasted 3 months prior. Better glasses and tasting environment likely account for this change in perception. Dark ruby. Intense nose of rich red fruit including raspberry and cherry with notes of earth. Mouth filling palate with juicy red fruits and a gentle gravely note. Very penetrating but silky wine. Long finish with of red fruit, flowers and earth. (3140 views)
Tasted by JustOneMore on 2/10/2012 & rated 90 points: Traditional wet leaves on the nose. Not terribly complex but delicious dark fruits. Acidity well under control. Finish is nice with a faint hint of berries sweetness without tartness. (2902 views)

Pinot Noir

Varietal character (Appellation America) | Varietal article (Wikipedia)
Pinot Noir is the Noble red grape of Burgundy, capable of ripening in a cooler climate, which Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot will not reliably do. It is unpredictable and difficult both to grow and to vinify, but results in some of the finest reds in the world. It is believed to have been selected from wild vines two thousand years ago. It is also used in the production of champagne. In fact, more Pinot Noir goes into Champagne than is used in all of the Cote d'Or! It is also grown in Alsace, Germany, the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Croatia, Serbia, Italy, Austria, and so forth, with varying degrees of success.

California Wines (Wine Institute of California)

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in over 100 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.
