Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 89.4 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 18 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by JonnyG on 4/25/2015 & rated 92 points: An impressive showing for a young wine with the structure and stuffing to impress over the upcoming years. On this occasion, the pop & pour approach did it a disservice until aerated for an hour plus, and I think substantially more time would have served it well. Ripe floral nose. Palate of raspberry ad red currants and coffee, with a nice floral aspect. More intense than delicate. An underrated estate when it comes to its red IMO, especially in great vintages (the 2005 sings!). (765 views)
(760 views)
Tasted by wineotim on 8/28/2014 & rated 90 points: Medium bodied. Nicely balanced and structured, firm tannins, acidity, mineral and fruit. Nose is lacking...a competent wine nonetheless. (1927 views)
Tasted by henrygjeffreys on 6/14/2014: smells dark, coffee, complex and some perfume
tannic, young
some nice fragrance coming through
nice to have a proper wine after trying some weedy 13s
grippy, needs time
long finish (1929 views)
Tasted by Woodbridge Brad on 11/14/2013 & rated 90 points: Dark and ripe clearly dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon. Ample oak, good tannin structure, intense fruit and good acid balance. Overall very balanced but quite pricy at $52. (2709 views)
Tasted by Jeff Leve on 2/15/2013 & rated 89 points: On the light, elegant side of the style range with ripe, fresh cherries and black raspberries, earth and tobacco characteristics. The wine finishes with fresh, spicy, bright, red berries. (3940 views)
Tasted by Vmaster007 on 1/26/2013 & rated 86 points: nez discret, épices fines, bel équilibre, se boit bien (3251 views)
Tasted by KeithAkers on 1/23/2013 & rated 89 points: 2010 Bordeaux UGC Chicago (The Drake Hotel, Chicago IL): Nose: Nice and balanced nose with tones of dark red cherries, cedar, tobacco, and cranberries.

Taste: Medium bodied with medium acidity and some taught tannins. There are nice tones of dark red cherries, cranberries, and cedar.

Overall: This is lacking on both the nose and palate. The plate thins out slightly on the mid and finish. (3070 views)
Tasted by yofog on 1/22/2013 & rated 90 points: Quite tannic and closed (duh?), what little this was showing was not that impressive. Seemed to have little stuffing, not the best balance, and a wonky finish. (2356 views)
Tasted by Richard Jennings on 1/18/2013 & rated 91 points: 2010 Bordeaux at 2012 Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux Tasting (Palace Hotel, San Francisco, California): Very dark red violet color; ripe red currant, floral nose; tight, ripe red currant, floral palate; needs 2 years; medium-plus finish (1856 views)
Tasted by stassivo on 11/10/2012: Le Salon du Vin de la Revue du Vin de France 2012 (Brussels): Much more open than the estate's second wine, which is curious. Red berry syrup at the nose with some liquorice and soft oak. Great fruit concentration on the palate mixed with lots of earthy notes. Chewy ripe tannins. Will age really well. (2542 views)
Tasted by Philippe_C on 11/3/2012 & rated 91 points: Light nose of red fruit, light smoke... tannins very well intergated, ripe black cherries, average lenght, nice balance (1563 views)
Tasted by vespasian on 4/7/2011 & rated 89 points: More open than the sample at Cazabonne - perfumed fresh red and dark fruits; medium weight palate with nice flavours, the acidity a little puckering and lots of tannin. 88-91. (1581 views)
Tasted by vespasian on 4/5/2011 & rated 89 points: Closed nose - giving very little away; palate quite closed also, hard to judge. Doesnt appear overripe, good weight and richness. 88-91? (1549 views)

Winedoctor, April 2011
(Chateau Carbonnieux (Pessac-Léognan)) Rather a velvety appearance to this rather crimson wine, and a lovely coulis of forest fruits on the nose, wild cherry and fraise de bois, all very attractive. The palate follows from this perfectly, the concentration relaxed, the presence rather juicy and open as a result, but with identifiable seams of tannin and acid running underneath. Rather an attractive, elegant and composed wine. Nice fruit depth at the edges with a touch of savouriness to them. This is very lovely, an impressive wine.  17-18 points
