Tasted by SkyCellar on 11/8/2014 & rated 90 points: Very nice, but getting a bit long in the tooth. Drink up. (1428 views)
Tasted by vasisht on 3/5/2007 & rated 92 points: Opened it with friends. Much better than some of the other 95s I have had. The fruits are blossoming and the tannins have completely dissipated. If you have one in your cellar, drink it now! (2925 views)
Tasted by martinp on 9/23/2006: Colour indicating some age but still reddish, not orange colour. Surprisingly powerfull on the palate but quite restrained on the palate. Loads of kirsch, garrigue, barnyard and dark berries. Most probably at the start of the the window of maturity - best bottle so far. (3272 views)
Tasted by martinp on 9/22/2005 & rated 90 points: Beautiful red colour, starting to become orange/tawny at the rim. On the nose a wonderful sweet bouquet of bacon, smoke, thyme, prunes and raspberries. On the palate a smooth and well balanced feel with plenty of grip in the aftertaste. The backbone is surely there. Lacks a bit of complexity but hell - this is not an expensive CdP and delivers loads of pleasure. Best experience with this wine so far. Just reaching maturity but will surely last. (3461 views)
Tasted by martinp on 4/10/2005 & rated 89 points: This bottle was far more mature than other bottles consumed over the last year. Soft and round, not having the tannic edge other bottles have been marked by. Thoroughly enjoyable. Apart from this, very much the same charateristics as earlier bottles. (3500 views)
Tasted by martinp on 11/11/2004 & rated 89 points: Decanted this into a magnum-decanter due to my past experience with this wine. Left it to breathe for to hours. The colour was deep red - the purple sparks are gone but no sign of age apart from this. Even though this was decanted is was still hard and closed at first - opened up only in the end. The last glass was pure pleasure, the hard edges gone and a round soft core shining through, soft dark fruit, licorice, smoke, thyme and mature dark fruits. Wonder when this will reach maturity? 5+ yrs? (2511 views)
Tasted by martinp on 7/4/2004 & rated 89 points: Deep red colour, massive nose when forst opened. Loads of thyme, rosmary and garrigue, dark cherries. Seemed open and ready for drinking. On the palate, lots of animal/barn-notes, more cherries and herbes de provence. Evolved a lot over the 3 hours in the glass, first open, then closed with almost agressive acidity and finally round and soft, easy to enjoy. Thought this was mostly grenache but the palate seems to indicate a fair part of syrah. Drink now +5 years (2020 views)

AOC Red Châteauneuf du Pape
Cuvée Hautes Brusquières

Grape varieties :
This cuvee is made up of Grenache (70%) and Syrah (30%)
The vines are between 30 to 50 years old.
Situation and soil type :
All the grapes come from the Brusquières plateau, in the north of Châteauneuf du Pape, where we can find the famous round pebbles and a clayey subsoil
Vats :
Wood and stainless steel with temperature control

Vatting :
Since 2000, we have decided to destem and to crush all grapes
Vatting lasts 3 to 5 weeks, depending on the vintage at a temperature between 25 and 30°C
A release or a punching of the cap is done every 2 days and pumping over every day.
The malolactic fermentation happens in barrels and vats.
Ageing :
Ageing continues in barrels and big oak tanks during 12 – 18 months depending on the vintage.
Tasting :
This is an atypical cuvee in terms of its complexity of aromas: deep spice, black fruit flavors and chocolate notes are overlaid with leather and a wild complexity.
This complex nectar needs a long cellaring to 15 years from vintage.
Further information:
The cuvee bottled without filtration is stocked in our warehouse air-conditioned at 16°C.

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.

"As I have written many times in the past, the sweet spot for drinking Châteauneuf du Papes is usually the first 5-6 years after the vintage. Then they seem to go through an adolescent, awkward, and sometimes dormant stage, only to re-emerge around year 10-12, where the majority of wines are often fully mature. The best of them will continue to hold on to life (but rarely improving) beyond 15-20 years. It is only the exceptional Châteauneuf du Papes that will evolve for 20-25+ years, and those are indeed a rarity. However, things may be improving dramatically in terms of the longevity of Châteauneuf du Pape, although Grenache-dominated wines, the vast majority of wines produced in the appellation, are wines that do not have the polyphenol (extract and tannin) content of top Cabernet Sauvignons, Merlots, or Syrah-based wines. Nevertheless, the younger generation in Châteauneuf du Pape has taken seriously the farming in the vineyards. There are more organic and biodynamically run vineyards here than in any other appellation of France. The yields, which were already low, are even lower today (20-35 hectoliters per hectare), and of course, the proliferation of top luxury and/or old-vine cuvées gives a significant boost to the number of wines that will evolve past 25 or 30 years. The advantage of these wines is their broad window of drinkability." - Robert Parker
