Tasted by costacasa on 1/28/2017 & rated 92 points: A beautiful syrah that is aging superbly. I loved this wine 6 years ago, and was happy to acquire a few more bottles recently. Still fresh fruits, opens quickly, big rich and perfumey. No discernible drop off after second day. This wine was built to last. (858 views)
Tasted by BlackIce on 1/29/2014 & rated 91 points: Prior notes consistent and the QPR via wine.woot is Fantastic! Still 3 more bottles to go that I will savor... (1738 views)

Tasted by Leomania on 3/11/2013 & rated 91 points: Same as it ever was. Just a fantastic wine, almost hedonistic in its concentration, mid-palate flourish and long finish. Splendid. (854 views)
Tasted by Leomania on 12/22/2012 & rated 91 points: Delicious as always. Nice concentration, huge flourish, good acidity. Almost, but not quite, over the top. Still has noticeable spice notes in spite of its hugeness. (937 views)

Tasted by BlackIce on 6/29/2012 & rated 90 points: Absolutely fabulous. Glad I still have several more bottles that I treasue and drink with colleagues. See prior notes. (921 views)
Tasted by nobodycares123 on 5/12/2012 & rated 92 points: A rich body, luxurious syrah. Dark fruits, a hint of smoke with a chewy, lingering long finish with mild acidity. It's absolutely ready to drink now. I chilled it slightly and also gave it some air for about an hour.

I LOVE it.

I love it enough to visit the winery and met the guys who made it. They are a great group of people. Judd (President of Michel-Schlumberger, maker of Humanitas) and Jim spent 4 hours with us and showed us the whole vineyard and winemaking areas. It was quite an education. It's really no surprise that these came from someone with so much knowledge and passion about what they do.

Drink charitably! And visit them if you have a chance! (956 views)
Tasted by Leomania on 4/24/2012 & rated 90 points: An excellent Syrah. Drinking wonderfully right now. Great concentration, nice structure, blackberry, hard candy and spice. Love it. (880 views)
Tasted by Druidh on 4/21/2012 & rated 90 points: Great flavors of dark fruit and leather. Nicely balanced and not over the top. Drank with a butterflied leg of lamb from the grill and the smoke and wine made some great music together. Very nice effort. (1001 views)
Tasted by BlackIce on 2/15/2012 & rated 89 points: Consistently good. See prior notes. (1048 views)
Tasted by Leomania on 2/14/2012 & rated 91 points: Simply delicious. I will look forward to opening every single one of my remaining bottles. Notes consistent with previous. (968 views)
Tasted by Leomania on 12/9/2011 & rated 91 points: Terrific. Blackberrry, black currant, mocha and leather. Moderate acidity and fine tannins, with sweet oak balancing things out nicely. I know of no newer vintages of this wine, but hoping this wasn't the last. (1332 views)
Tasted by BlackIce on 12/6/2011 & rated 90 points: Give this some air and time and it really opens up. Nice acidity to it with flavors of berries and smoked meat. Excellent. My favorite Syrah for sure. (1420 views)
Tasted by costacasa on 11/24/2011 & rated 90 points: Wow, not sure what there is NOT to like. Great nose, big rich perfumey. Loved sticking my nose in this wine. Opened up quickly, full bodied, great mouth feel. Highly recommend. Will buy more of this. (1406 views)
Tasted by Leomania on 11/12/2011 & rated 91 points: Perhaps a bit hedonistic, but everyone enjoyed it tremendously accompanying a dinner of Mediterranean food. Maple brown sugar as noted previously, blackberry and sweet oak. Very enjoyable. (1452 views)
Tasted by TottenCellars on 9/16/2011: A full bodied syrah. Deep dark perfume nose that just invites you in. The palate is dark fruit and a hint of dark chocolate. Great with red meat and alone. Highly recommended. (1788 views)
Tasted by Bfield10 on 9/10/2011 & rated 89 points: Very nice Syrah. Full flavored with a light start and evolving palate. (1775 views)

Syrah

Varietal article (Wikipedia) | (Wines Northwest)

Note that some producers in the Northern Rhone distinguish between simply Syrah and "Serine", the latter described as ‘an ancient clone of Syrah, the berries of which are more oval-shaped and less deeply pigmented than Syrah’ by producer Tardieu-Laurent.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
