Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 89.4 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 113 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by MadisonWIneGuy on 10/6/2015 & rated 88 points: Blackberry, black cherry, dried floral notes (lavender, violet). It's very nice, though I should've decanted and I didn't drink with a proper large glass so I feel like I missed out on quite a bit. Seemed a little tight, but probably my circumstances and not a true reflection of the wine. Medium plus dry finish. 88 pts. (791 views)
Tasted by Richard123 on 10/4/2015 & rated 91 points: Excellent Chianti, drinking well now. It still benefited from decanting, but with the air time it rounded out into a very smooth profile that combined all the key elements -- tannin, cherry, acidity -- to perfection. (515 views)
Tasted by ryancshih on 10/3/2015: Garnet red color. Black cherries on the nose. On the palate, sour cherry and plum with tea notes. Medium plus tannins and acid. Full bodied. (475 views)
Tasted by Lazerlar on 9/18/2015 & rated 90 points: A very nice chianti drinking nicely, my last bottle however (543 views)
Tasted by PSUSteve on 11/24/2014 & rated 89 points: Poured through a VinTuri. Limited fruit and tight but not tannic if that makes sense. (1588 views)
Tasted by GARDEN on 11/16/2014 & rated 91 points: This is open for business... (1216 views)
Tasted by grape man on 10/5/2014: - Brick color with fast forming legs and aromas of dusty and mushroom. It's somewhat balanced and has flavours of alcohol, black pepper and black currant with a medium/full body. Flabby texture with a long finish. (1314 views)
Tasted by gordongarlic on 8/11/2014 & rated 90 points: Smoothed out from a year ago and really nice right from the start. good fruit with a little bit of heft (1607 views)
Tasted by AAJR on 5/4/2014 & rated 87 points: Decanted for 2 hours prior to tasting. Not impressed & not much improvement from last taste 1 year ago. Still quite tannic with a bit of heat/alcohol. Flavors of dark cherry & tobacco. Fair at best Chianti at this point. (1991 views)
Tasted by vinniemontoni on 1/18/2014 & rated 90 points: Nose of sour cherries, leather and still a kick of alcohol after 2 hrs. In decanter. Medium palate. Freah red fruits a little gritty on the finish but much more balance and integrated than previous bottle. I really enjoyed this. Very lengthy finish. Unfortunately my last bottle. (1940 views)
Tasted by dke on 1/3/2014 & rated 90 points: Very tasty, rich sour cherries, tobacco and some earthiness with medium acidity (too an hour or two to open up). (1889 views)
Tasted by PSUSteve on 12/30/2013 & rated 91 points: Day 1 - Opened unexpectantly so I pop and poured. Way too tight with huge tannins.

Day 3 - after VinVac, opened and poured through Vinturi. Much smoother with deep cherry on the palate. (1641 views)
Tasted by Nico P. on 12/11/2013: 14%. Rounded mouthfeel. Soft tannins. High toned red fruits, red cherry lollipop, clean smelling no earthy / mushroom notes that I've come to associate with Tuscan. Nicely tart, so despite the high alcohol can still be taken with a meal. (829 views)
Tasted by McMalbec on 12/7/2013 & rated 90 points: A very good, well structured Chianti. Medium, dark cherry nose; dark fruit with well balanced oak: strong tannins, but sense it would have benefitted by decanting which I was not in a position to do; medium finish. Received compliments from finicky Chianti drinkers. (1362 views)
Tasted by EricLi on 12/1/2013 & rated 90 points: PnP. Huge nose of floral perfume and cherry. Medium bodied with almost dark color. Delicate tennins well integrated with very dry finish. However, it fades quite quickly. Drink up now! (1273 views)
Tasted by SCMeyer on 11/27/2013 & rated 91 points: Great nose of earth, dust, cherry and plum. Excellent dark cherry full bodied expression of Sangiovese. Great fruit and balanced acidity on the long very dry finish. Very enjoyable. (883 views)
Tasted by mr21cbs on 11/26/2013 & rated 90 points: Stunningly good chianti (905 views)
Tasted by Blauweiss on 11/23/2013 & rated 87 points: Good fruit, but perhaps a tad to much oak, ok but not great. (831 views)
Tasted by enjoywine on 10/30/2013 & rated 90 points: Opened to watch the World Series with wife’s homemade pizza. Very modern with dark fruit aromas. After an hour in glasses and after vinturi this had much nicer aromatics that had some nice perfumed floral aromatics. Tannins smoothed out nicely and wine not overly drying. Very nice after one hour and with food or alone. My only bottle ☹. If you have time open and pour an hour before. (978 views)
Tasted by Blauweiss on 10/5/2013 & rated 87 points: Modern chianti-nose with oak, cherrie and some dark berrie fruit. Needs at least 2 hours of air since it is still quite young and a bit hard. But then this is a pleasant enough wine, good annata from a warm year. (1313 views)
Tasted by Richard123 on 9/30/2013 & rated 90 points: Need decanting, but otherwise perfect old-style chianti. Lots of tannin (but not too much after decanting), with beautiful balanced oak, fruit and acidity. Really went well with beef stew. (1184 views)
Tasted by ericindc on 9/27/2013 & rated 90 points: Very, very nice chianti. Heavier, classic style that I tend to like. Deep dark fruits on the nose with dirt and some spice. Heavier bodied with dark fruits, leather, earth, great acidity and long finish. Pretty stiff tannins so it should be good for a while yet. nice wine that held up great with kabobs. (1129 views)
Tasted by gordongarlic on 9/26/2013 & rated 90 points: Day 1 - loads of sour, dark fruit and a splash of dusty tannins. Still quite pleasantly sour over an hour after opening.

Day 2 - the sourness subsided leaving smooth fruit with a hint of spice. It should also be noted the tannins were still evident. I finished the bottle, but do wonder what day 3 would have offered. (1130 views)
Tasted by PSUSteve on 8/28/2013 & rated 90 points: Poured through a Vinturi Dark fruit (cherry) with some complexity with air. I would definitely decant if drinking soon. (1277 views)
Tasted by gagrapes on 7/24/2013 & rated 91 points: better on day 2 (1407 views)
