Raspberry and black tea with a hint of licorice. Subtle tanin , very little oak influence. Lovely drinking (724 views) | | Tasted by paulf on 8/24/2015 & rated 91 points: The bottle says it is a blend of Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, and Tinta Roriz. 13% abv Some cassis and eucalypt on the nose, but also some savoury overtones. This has opened up in the glass over a couple of hours. It's really quite gentle on the front palate. There is no big fruit here, and it is initially subtle with a hint of black tea, then some olive coming through with a wisp of licorice. The tannins build from mid palate on to provide some good length on the finish. I probably should have given this a couple more hours in the decanter, but it has proven to be highly satisfying none the less. Mouth: Medium plus acid, medium plus tannin, jammy generic red berry and cherry fruit, slight oak, slight tannic grip. The wine finishes a little bitter. (2358 views) | | Tasted by rdewolff on 7/4/2012 & rated 89 points: Very nice wine (1618 views) | | Tasted by Craigbilodeau on 7/3/2012 & rated 87 points: This is a smooth, rich red with elegant character. Lots of wild red fruits, herb and spice flavor. Soft tannins and an elegant finish. (1337 views) | | Tasted by drwine2001 on 3/17/2012: Portuguese Table Wines (SF Wine Trading Company): Medium center. Sharp, cherry tones. Ripe cherry first impression with some sap and a bit of herbs, but overall relatively simple and fruit driven. Falls off at the end. (1597 views) |

Beiras is home to the more well-known DOCs of Bairrada and Dão, along with the less well-known DOCs of Távora-Varosa in the north, butting up to the Douro region, Lafões in the north west, meeting the southernmost part of the Minho region, and the large DOC Beira Interior in the north east and the south east of Beiras. Bairrada lies to the west of the region, though it doesn’t reach the coast, while Dão occupies the central part of the region. |
