I'll drink up mine soon. (142 views) |

In 1717 a landlord of the Vacqueyras area donated a parcel of vines to an ancestor of the Arnoux family: Pierre Bovis. During centuries his descendants were farmers and wine growers in the area. The grandfather of the owners today, Aimé Arnoux, made wine from 24 ha. of his own. He decided to increase his activities by buying wine from other producers and in this way he founded the negociant firm of today. Now his grandsons Marc og Jean-Francois Arnoux run the firm. Marc is educated as an oenolog and he is responsible for the wine making. Jean-Francois is running the commercial part.
The Homestead 40 hectares lies on the plateau Garrigues, plateau located west of the appellation, from a geological fracture that extends to Chateauneuf du Pape. Essentially consists of clay and limestone soils red pebbles, its uniqueness lies in its large pebbles, which restore the stored heat at night the day, allowing the grapes to optimum ripeness. These soils are conducive to low yields of grapes with highly concentrated flavors and tannins.
Lots of cuvées are made from the firm. It's not easy to know if the different wines are from own vineyards or from bought wine. Different brands are used Vieux Clocher, Arnoux et Fils, Jean-Marie Arnoux, or Chapelle St.-Arnoux.
Red Rhone Blend Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.
A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
