Community Tasting Notes (average 94.3 pts. and median of 95 pts. in 3 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by NoTrollingerPlease on 5/5/2018 & rated 95 points: 10 years after Riesling tasting - 2008 (@home): Glass: Zalto Universal
Bottle double decanted about 8h before, tasted blind in the evening and another glass on the next day. Only wine in this tasting with a screw cap.
Clear, medium golden color. Clean, medium intense, developing nose. Dense and compact. Lots of spices, yellow stone fruit, some herbs and fine crushed stones.
Dry. Medium+, racy and perfectly integrated acidity. On the palate a perfect unity of aromas: Herbs, spices, mineral notes, yellow stone fruit, zests. Long and lingering. Very balanced, lots of grip, good tension, round and resting in itself. Is maybe a bit less energetic than the Schlossberg, but this is just marginal. Would love to taste it again in 5/10 years. 94-95 (905 views)
Tasted by m_arcon on 5/5/2018 & rated 96 points: “Ten Years After” 2008 Dry Riesling Tasting (mostly Germany) (Private Location): Peter-Jakob Kühn was one of the pioneers of „natural“ wine in Germany. He very early began to experiment with no interventions in the vineyard, no herbicides, etc. I think in the actual vintages the estate found a good compromise between „natural“ and normal wine making, bringing the best of both worlds together. But in the vintages shortly after he turned his wine making some of his bottles can be a real rollercoaster, so I was quite curious how the 08 Schlehdorn shows. And he didn´t let me down. Kühn always has a very own style, and also here you have these very strong but mild herbal, green tea, and in this case, sesame components. Everything is underlaid by the ripe (but not overripe) fruit. This isn´t a loud wine in any sense on the palate. Multi layered, floating down the palate like pure silk. Everything is wonderfully interwoven. Harmony and balance are the two key words here. Not a wine for posers, no, more for the introverted drinker. But an absolutely great one in any sense of the word. (914 views)

#2014 Vintage Notes:
2014 Vintage Report by Terry Theise
2014 Vintage Report by Wine Spectator
"My gut still tells me the Saar (and to some extent) the Ruwer are better overall in 2014 than the more storied areas of the Mosel proper, but those that spent the requisite time living in their middle-Mosel vineyards made some of the most electric and "feathery" Riesling in a long time (maybe the finest in 20 years - yes, it's true!)" - Jon Rimmerman (Of course only a very short historical memory would call the Saar and Ruwer less 'storied' than the middle Mosel - jht)

Rheingau

VDP Rheingau (Official site) | The Rheingau (Wines of Germany) | Wikipedia about The Rheingau
On weinlagen.info

The small but fine wine-growing area Rheingau offers one for the culture of the vine ideal microclimate and best soil conditions. The Rhine runs uninterruptedly almost one thousand kilometres from Basel up to its muzzle into the North Sea, in a northerly direction. With a short exception - the Rheingau. The Rheingau mountains force the river to a change in direction here. The vineyards falling in this region to the south stretch really to the sun. The king of the white wines, the Riesling, finds ideal local conditions for the unfolding of his fine fruity and elegant type of vine character on the multilayered weathering grounds with loess, loam and sand additions.
