Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 93.7 pts. and median of 93 pts. in 13 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Ari7 on 7/26/2014 & rated 92 points: Lovely, but too much oak at present. Maybe it will ease in the background over a couple of years to give a more balanced experience? (1931 views)
Tasted by Anonymous on 6/20/2014 & rated 95 points: - Light gold color with fast forming legs and aromas of lemon, grapefruit, apple and geranium. It's in total harmony with a medium/full body. Bright texture with a long finish. (1866 views)
Tasted by -E- on 5/28/2014 & rated 93 points: Klar, strågul.
(994 views)
Tasted by Lord Rayas on 2/8/2014 & rated 92 points: popped open at L'Ami Louis (€285). plenty of potential but too young for drinking now. those horrible glasses didn't help. needs decanting. (2587 views)
Tasted by Corgi on 1/22/2014: Quick impressions from a 1996 to 2010 vertical at Burgundy ETC with the wine maker:
2010: pure.
2008: bigger. Good acidity for food.
2006: mushrooms, rounder. Advanced.
2004: fine and clean but less remarkable relative to 2010 and 2002.
2002: fresh with crisp acidity.
2000: big nose but has edge (2358 views)
Tasted by Jamie Manley on 11/23/2013 & rated 96 points: Wow, just wow! Still young and coiled like a cobra, this wine delivers amazing pleasure currently with nothing but upside. Haunting nose of flint, petrol (a trace), crushed stones, pear, apple, mineral, and more flint. You get more of the same on the palate, but also with an added taste of saline and seaweed and a finish that goes on forever. Bracing acidity and lift pierce some of the typical Lafon "plumpness" and help deliver a very precise wine. I still cannot stop thinking about this wine and my wallet is going to be very unhappy. Wow again! Two point potential increase after 4 to 7 years (?). For now - 96 Pts

(wine tasted over 2 days and dramatically improved on day 2 - no surprise) (2051 views)
Tasted by Oh Dae-su on 3/18/2013 & rated 94 points: Les Domaines Familiaux de Bourgogne (Paris): Like the name implies - charming, a bit very fat and strong, super acid, graet structure, thrilling nose, a lot (really lot) of oak (in a good manner) (2895 views)
Tasted by alanr on 3/13/2013 & rated 93 points: 2013 La Paulee, New York; 3/12/2013-3/14/2013: Starts a bit slowly, builds on the mid-palate to a rich crescendo, then medium finish. Very nice, not quite up to the Clos de la Barre. (2600 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 3/9/2013: La Paulée de New York Grand Tasting (Metropolitan Pavilion - New York NY): Tasting. Alluring stone fruit aromas wit plenty of spice. Sweet peach flavors, again some new oak protruding a bit right now, but very lush and sexy already today. Much like when I tasted it last year in Burgundy, this is a great wine now with intriguing medium-term potential. (2341 views)
Tasted by Gargantua on 3/9/2013: La Paulée de New York 2013 (Metropolitan Pavilion, NYC): Far cooler and more laid back nose than the Clos de la Barre Monopole, very pretty. (1879 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 3/9/2013: Focus on 2010 Burgundy- The 2013 La Paulee Grand Tasting (Metropolitan Pavilion, New York): Much lower pitched than the Clos de la Barre. Bigger, creamier and much greater depth with discrete, tolerable (to me) oakiness. As opposed to the other Charmes I tried today, this was the only one that had Grand Cru size and still retained its Meursault roots. (2330 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 3/23/2012: Grands Jours de Bourgogne - Meursault and Volnay (Tonnellerie Damy - Meursault): Tasting. Lush start of ripe apple, peach with toasted almond. Same powerful and sweet fruit on palate. Very accessible and fruit-driven, but not quite as exciting for me today as the Lafon Genevrières also just tasted. (1779 views)
Tasted by MatthewF on 3/13/2012: Domaine Tasting at Comte Lafon: Racked into tank yesterday. Riper aromatically than the other wines so far. Pretty floral tones. Creamy mixture of lemon and lime on the rich/round palate. As with all the other wines, great depth and concentration. Long finish. Outstanding. (1455 views)

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)
Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.
