(1748 views) | | Tasted by johnny1206 on 5/26/2014 & rated 91 points: Great aromas and taste. (2092 views) | | Tasted by johnny1206 on 11/3/2013 & rated 93 points: Decanted for hours. Aromas of dark fruits were wonderful. On the palate the wine filled the mouth with smooth grenache flavor. A great lasting finish. I would highly recommend this to anyone. If you never had a Grenache, this is the one to try. Nick, great job! (2207 views) | | Tasted by Redguy on 9/14/2013 & rated 93 points: Lovely. No extra weight or wood in this wine, just a bright, clean, lively, and focused effort where the vineyard, and not the barrel, is allowed to shine thru. Fruit has a slightly tart cherry edge to it which I like with a bit of black fruit lurking in the background. Seamless and silky across the palate with excellent polish, a fine tannic frame, and a fine minerality throughout. Great concentration, though not at all cumbersome like some grenache based wines where the greater influence of wood adds unnecessary weight and muddles the composition. Relatively speaking, this is a dancer not a slugger. (2113 views) | | Tasted by Redguy on 2/23/2013 & rated 94 points: OMG... fantastic grenache based wine. Even better than my last experience. Sultry and intriguing from the first sip. Wonderful richness upon entry is offset perfectly by appropriate brightness and acidity... the balance created is exquisite. Great consistency across the palate with absolutely no holes. Full bodied with a soft, velvety mouthfeel, and melt in your mouth tannins. Great balance and good length on the medium rich, utterly delicious finish. This seamless well composed beauty is on par with some of the best wines from Paso. Drinking well with a short decant. Gorgeous stuff and highly recommended. (1657 views) | | Tasted by johnny1206 on 2/22/2013 & rated 93 points: Dark fruits blackberry, pepper notes, nice tannins. Drank over two days. The wine really released the aromas and the flavors. Great wine. Nice finish. The wine looks Purple colored. The legs are Slow. The body is Medium/Full. The wine has Smooth texture. (1282 views) | | Tasted by ksteiner on 8/26/2012 & rated 95 points: Bold blend. This one opens nicely and is good with or without food. While bold it does pair nicely with manchego and salumni. (1239 views) | | Tasted by The Wine Write on 4/13/2012 & rated 91 points: Popped & poured at local restaurant. Attractive nose with dark fruit and cocoa notes. Creamy mouthfeel with well integrated tannins. Lots of fruit with cocoa and sweet tobacco nuances. We really enjoyed this. (1218 views) | | Tasted by Redguy on 3/17/2012 & rated 92 points: Splash decanted. Lots of wild red fruit, blueberries, brown sugar and cola at first with some well integrated oak. Evolved quite a bit over the next 1.5 hrs - ripe soft fruits joined by mocha turning to carmelly milk chocolate then showing some fresh baked cinnamon rolls. Juicy with good acids, great depth, and a fleshed out tannic frame. Last glass was the best - rich and exotic. We really spent some time with this one. Delicious. (1288 views) | | Tasted by Redguy on 1/22/2012 & rated 92 points: Tasting room pour. No notes taken but this was a beautifully balanced and varietally correct grenache. Med+ body with excellent concentration though not massive in any way. Real class and elegance yet also with great depth. Good acidity and a med+ length finish. Lovely stuff. It's exciting seeing a young winemaker trying to make his mark and Nick's first efforts with his own label are very promising. (1205 views) |

Nicora is a blend of two family names -- Nic and Ora. The first is mine, Nicolas and the second is the name of my great-grandfather, Ora. Both Ora and myself share an ancestral bond of entrepreneurial spirit. Neither of us follow a recipe, the rules, or a trend, but rather lead the pack with our own inspired ideas and ingenuity.
I began my journey in the world of wine in 2005. As a first generation winemaker born from four generations of general contracting, I appreciate hard work and determination. Starting as a cellar worker, my experience includes working alongside esteemed winemakers such as Bob Tillman of Alta Colina, Eric Jensen of Booker Vineyards and Scott Hawley of Torrin. By working and learning the "tricks of the trade," I have honed my own skills and applied the best attributes of my teachers to my own style of winemaking.
Nicora’s small-lot Rhone-style wines are finely crafted to consistently represent the terroir of the vineyard. Each vintage is a blend of the highest quality Rhone varietals sourced from Paso Robles’ reputable Westside vineyards. A true “Garagiste”, I epitomize the French term that signifies a passionate small-lot vintner who doesn’t care much for following the rules. In true Garagiste form, Nicora wines are made in a boutique winery near my greatest supporters. Nicolas R. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Central Coasthttp://www.ccwinegrowers.org/links.html
