Black and red fruit with the earthiness I adore in wine. Some mint and menthol but pleasing. Medium legs and tears. Beautiful initial attack of cherries and bright acidity with a dryness crying for a beautiful hanger steak. Still young but approachable. Well balanced with a bright future. (3353 views)|

After a decent "fourrier shake" to get the co2 out the aromatics really lift and the purity and freshness are highlighted. Lots of crunchy red fruit on the not quite midweight palate - very primary and very lively. Already has quite a long finish witha wonderful freshness to the finish. Lovely village burgundy. Intense red fruit core. Incredible nose. The essence of Gevrey. This wine shows all the best of Gevrey on the nose but not the complexity of Chambertin.
A+ village wine. Decant if you want to try this folks! This is a special village wine. (3149 views)
| ||Tasted by short and confused on 2/10/2014 & rated 90 points: Very different from a few months ago and not moving in a positive direction. Bottle variation or shutting down? Bright, full, red. Where as before the was a filigree of tangy candied red fruits, dark berries, flowers and earth, this time the nose was a bit one dimensional and primary. Again good volume with earth and sour cherries on the palate but only a hint of the Gevrey game. A nice long finish with some salinity but I will not be returning to the remaining bottles for some time (?2018). (3390 views)|

Struck me tonight as more of a gateway Burgundy for those coming from CA to Burgundy. A bit ripe and one dimensional at this stage. Very accessible right now but also very primary. I have 3 more and I won't touch the next one for some time. Hum, I own other vintages and was more impressed in the past. Nice but not awesome yet. (3400 views)|

Very good volume with soil driven slightly sappy red fruits and some wet gamey fur across the palate. The finish is long with some salinity. This speaks of both place and the person who brings the place forth. A Gevrey and also Fourrier. This is village wine? Wow. (2692 views)|

The bouquet gives the impression of being solidly red fruited. The color is a translucent medium ruby that is youthful and vibrant. The medium bodied palate comes across as high toned with abundant tart red fruit. The wines finishes with fair amount of acidity, light to medium tannins and medium length. The wines gives the impression it will benefit from additional bottle age which should soften and better integrate some of the high-toned elements. (2284 views)|

Medium concentration, pure sappy fruits, delicate palate expression, bright acidity and nicely integrated tannins. This is a great example of the purity and sweetness in 2010 reds. Perhaps not as complex but the purity in fruit is not unlike the top GCs. Incredibly delicious but will improve for at least another decade. (2287 views)|

Intense, shifting, evolving nose of bright red fruit, green olives, tobacco and dried flowers. Silky, but firm tannins, with bright and brisk acid. The red fruit is bright but sappy, and backed up by notes of loam and mushroom. Beautiful stuff that got better and better over the course of the evening. (2393 views)|

Yep - that's this wine. It bears more than a passing resemblance to a 2010 Lapierre Morgon in its purity, freshness and light-handed drinkability, but has more substance in the background waiting to emerge. Of course that may never happen, as the wine is so delicious now that it's hard not to drink it all in one go. (2683 views)|

Pinot Noir is the Noble red grape of Burgundy, capable of ripening in a cooler climate, which Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot will not reliably do. It is unpredictable and difficult both to grow and to vinify, but results in some of the finest reds in the world. It is believed to have been selected from wild vines two thousand years ago. It is also used in the production of champagne. In fact, more Pinot Noir goes into Champagne than is used in all of the Cote d'Or! It is also grown in Alsace, Germany, the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Croatia, Serbia, Italy, Austria, and so forth, with varying degrees of success.

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.
