Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 88.2 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 14 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by drwine2001 on 5/31/2014: Medium yellow. Hazelnut nose. Medium weight with noticeable wood imparting some real texture, a bit of spice, and ripe fruit in balance with the acidity. Very good Bourgogne and you can tell it comes from a Meursault producer. (2587 views)
Tasted by yossarian.livez on 5/30/2014 & rated 87 points: Nose of floral and slight buttery richness. Palate bit heavy with the wood influence but also some stone to balance it. Ripe with hints of tropical fruits and round and less precise but fairly pure. Medium weight. Medium acid. Medium length.

Perhaps suffered a bit after a chablis with much better acid and which I preferred. I get the order. The second white simply wasn't going to show as well, so I'll add an extra point. It's a solid entry level white burgundy on the richer side. (2433 views)
Tasted by BBinSC on 5/24/2014 & rated 89 points: 89-91: no doubt the provenance of this wine, it screams Meursault. Well-balanced and lingering on the finish, I thought at 4 years this bottle was ready, but it's still a baby. Try again next year. (2440 views)
Tasted by redwhiteandrich on 1/18/2014 & rated 89 points: Baby meursault, leaner with solid acids. Could go a few more years. (2555 views)
Tasted by xuaeinw on 12/10/2013 & rated 90 points: Very much a Meursault. but smoother and not as intensely acidic as a more premium wine of this age from the area. Great value. (2512 views)
Tasted by Outplaying on 9/28/2013: Burgundy tasting with friends (Our house, Kennett square, PA): More earthy and minerally than the Nudant. Crisper and lighter in weight too. Some citrus tones, light apple. Bigger nose than the Nudant. I liked this and group did as well. (1010 views)
Tasted by AlphaMikeFoxtrot on 8/4/2013 & rated 87 points: Tree fruit, wax. Pair with fish! (94 views)
Tasted by gwkozar on 6/18/2013 & rated 89 points: Bright gold. Nose of mineral, peach, and a bit of oak. Palate of sharp minerals and acidity with butter and oak in background. Good balance. This got an extra point for my wife liking it a lot (not usual). (788 views)
Tasted by Coralspringscom on 4/2/2013 & rated 86 points: Ok. Nt the best Chardonnay I have tasted (857 views)
Tasted by aajder on 2/12/2013 & rated 86 points: Good color. On the nose, this shows mineral, pear, peach, and a nice creamy oak influence. On the palate, this is medium light bodied with good concentration and nice balance. There is ample elegance on display here, and the acidity is refreshing. The finish is medium length. (867 views)
Tasted by daviesant19 on 10/20/2012 & rated 88 points: Deep gold with a very clean nose of white peach and a hint of cobnuts. The flavour follows on from the nose as well as delivering a lovely hit of minerality and just a hint of buttered toast. (897 views)
Tasted by Gargantua on 9/10/2012: Martin Scott Portfolio Tasting (New York, NY): Tasting, hasty impression. Round, friendly, oak present; well-balanced. Solid wine. (850 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
