Community Tasting Notes (average 90.8 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 47 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by nzinkgraf on 8/24/2013: I mistakenly took this wine to the wrong place and almost poured it all out for father so and so and the angels that floated around him. But that's for another time. Creamy, lees, chalk and watermelon. Ripe watermelon. Quiet aromas, really, but very charming. I like this much more than the '12s are drinking right now. Aromas of clean old wooden desktop. But truthfully, more fruit emerges as this wine warms up and/or opens up in my glass. Red berry (1919 views)
Tasted by artoopeo on 5/13/2013 & rated 92 points: Perfect lunch wine on a nice Spring day. Great pairing with Pissaladiere. (2311 views)
Tasted by Mike Dildine on 2/19/2013 & rated 90 points: My 12s arrived today, this was my last 11. Still exceptionally fine. (3319 views)
Tasted by JFish on 10/22/2012: Quick TN: Popped and poured. Admittedly, I'm a homer for this wine. It's the best rose I've had this year. Crisp, strawberry and a hint of melon, a hint of citrus, and the acidity gives it life. Great paing with oven-roasted chicken with a chipotle rub. (3998 views)
Tasted by bin905 on 10/6/2012 & rated 89 points: Somewhat lean flavors with plenty of zip. (3901 views)
Tasted by nzinkgraf on 9/24/2012: Crushed this without even noticing. Watermelon and crisp. We had lasagne, but this was more about housing this bottle. (2625 views)
Tasted by Cote d'Or on 9/22/2012: PopnPour, then Day 2
-gorgeous translucent med pink/orange
-moderately aromatic, a little strawberry and rhubarb
-late acidity, med weight and conc, silky mouthfeel for a rose, loaded with dry extract that leads to an impressively long slightly bitter quinine finish, strawberry/rhubarb are main fruit elements, structurally holds up well on Day 2 with some extra complexity, as good or better than the first bottle 6 months ago
-very nice now potentially with room to improve, great balance with vibrant acidity and mid-palate sap, WIN! (2327 views)
Tasted by Mike Dildine on 9/14/2012 & rated 91 points: Simply one of the best roses I've had. (1724 views)
Tasted by Prof B on 9/8/2012: lovely rose, will have to buy more next year. (1441 views)
Tasted by bin905 on 9/4/2012 & rated 89 points: Floral, honeydew melon and kiwi scent. Fresh, zippy grapefruit and quinine flavor. (1475 views)
Tasted by ToddS on 8/25/2012: Refreshing, wonderful, etc. Blows the P2 completely out of the water. (1597 views)
Tasted by Rieslingfan on 7/23/2012 & rated 93 points: Same as the last bottle - outstanding rosé. (1954 views)
Tasted by Prof B on 7/23/2012 & rated 92 points: fairly muted nose but expressive on the palate with grass, strawberry, mild citrus, clear acidity. great rose. (1755 views)
Tasted by mattsix on 7/11/2012: Big and bright. Very food friendly, watermelon, strawberries, saline. Great fruit- impressive. (1715 views)
Tasted by River Rat on 7/4/2012: This wine just continues to bring it. Great pairing with Mango Salsa on a warm 4th of July. The aromatics jump from the glass and the creamy strawberry, watermelon and nectarine on the palate combined with bright acidity make it a pleasurable drink. Nudges out the '11 Ode to Lulu as my Rosé of the Year. Raised lots of eyebrows around the table. (1888 views)
Tasted by nzinkgraf on 7/1/2012: Strawberry aromas. Mouth-watering watermelon palate. A very lively and prickly palate. Watermelon 'jolly rancher.'. It would probably get even better with age, but this is some giving texture for young rosé. (1723 views)
Tasted by Rieslingfan on 6/26/2012 & rated 93 points: Literally my first word on tasting this was WOW! What a great blend of berry and tropical fruit tones. There's great balance as well, with the wine drinking so easily I thought it was evaporating in the glass. Amazingly refreshing and really just fabulous. This is my favorite Rosé, eclipsing even the vaunted Baudry. (2160 views)
Tasted by SonomaWilliam on 6/17/2012 & rated 92 points: Simple Hedonisms Rosé Panel; 5/1/2012-8/5/2012: Wonderful rose' from a rare CA varietal.
Salmon orange-pink color.
Nose of citrus, cherry, strawberry.
Wonderful balance of bright acidity and texture in mouth. Cherry, strawberry, lime, pomegranate.
Better with some aeration. Will improve with some bottle time, perfect for the fall Holidays. (2814 views)
 Tasted by bin905 on 5/19/2012 & rated 89 points: Round. (2056 views)
Tasted by jpakma on 5/13/2012 & rated 92 points: Similar notes to previous bottle. Prefer with jus a light chill (2281 views)
Tasted by slanum on 5/5/2012: (A-R open house) Fresh and appealing and distinguishable from many other pink wines by the fact that it doesn't bear the telltale signs of cultured yeast and the emphatic fruitiness it can impart. I don't know that it's particularly varietal in character, but I don't know a heck of a lot about Touriga Nacional. (2221 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 5/1/2012: I believe I prefer the Robert Sinsikey Vins Gris. Which is not really saying much at all. They are different and both are beautiful. Outstanding at $19.99. (2279 views)
Tasted by Nyccablover on 4/30/2012 & rated 91 points: Drank over two nights. Beautiful salmon/pink color. Strawberry and cherry aromas in the glass - nose gets bigger as wine warms in the glass. Flavors of strawberry and cranberry dominate on the palate - with a nice balance of acidity and light tannins. Very clean and fresh, with a surprisingly long finish. (2192 views)
Tasted by Wicker Parker on 4/26/2012: Astonishingly good, elegant and wonderfully balanced, sings with perfect pitch. (1976 views)
Tasted by Anonymous on 4/25/2012 & rated 92 points: Really nice melon, wild strawberry, Rainier cherry, and citrus zest. (2084 views)
