Tasted by DickMull on 4/7/2019 & rated 89 points: Fully mature. Muted nose, with black fruit, chocolate, smoke, and warm spice. Palate was very nice, with nice rounded acidity, reddish fruit, mint, and slightly drying tannins on the finish. It won't get any better, I don't think, but was delicious with a steak, and the QPR is hard to beat. (636 views)
Tasted by Laurence on 6/27/2018: Past prime did not keep well. (1312 views)
Tasted by bakke on 10/30/2016 & rated 84 points: Color dark brick. Smell of pebber. Taste of grenache and some sweetness from syrah. Soft tannin. Lacking fruit. Drink it now.
Day 2 over the hill. (1791 views)
Tasted by xinco on 10/7/2016 & rated 87 points: Last bottle of the 2009. A bit past its prime. Fruit was very muted. Still one of my favorite wines. (1802 views)
Tasted by SLOFred on 12/15/2015 & rated 89 points: Nice wine. My last bottle of 2009. Nice with dinner. A bit tough on its own beforehand. (2454 views)
Tasted by SLOFred on 11/3/2015 & rated 89 points: This was a very nice bottle. A lot of variability. But when you catch a nice bottle, it is a real bonanza! (2007 views)
Tasted by Ceo on 7/30/2015 & rated 90 points: Last bottle of a good wine! Cheers (1887 views)
Tasted by SLOFred on 7/3/2015 & rated 89 points: I think I managed the perfect decant this time. I suggest 1.5-2 hours WITHOUT a vinturi. This wine was much better than my last bottle. A great Spanish GSM, and for $12, great QPR. (1348 views)
Tasted by SLOFred on 5/15/2015 & rated 85 points: Vinturied 2 hours before. Maybe too early. Kind of flat. Not nearly as good as some prior bottles. Too inconsistent. (1338 views)
Tasted by SLOFred on 2/3/2015 & rated 89 points: great QPR. Definitely needs a 2-3 hour decant. Did not have time tonight to do so. As a result, not as good as prior tasting. (1259 views)
Tasted by SLOFred on 1/11/2015 & rated 91 points: Vinturi'd this wine 2 hours before drinking. Incredible value at $12. I highly recommend. Still has a lot of life left in it. As good as any GSM you will find from Rhone. (1184 views)
Tasted by joet626 on 11/30/2014 & rated 86 points: Ok. Sour cherry. Was OK without food but did not really care for it. (1168 views)
Tasted by SLOFred on 9/28/2014 & rated 90 points: Really nicely made spanish GSM. Well worth the price. (1376 views)
Tasted by SLOFred on 4/27/2014 & rated 91 points: Incredible wine for $12. Great example of a GSM. Glad I have 8 more bottles. I think will improve for 5 more years. (1780 views)
Tasted by slywka7 on 4/5/2014 & rated 89 points: The Can Blau has aromas of violets, raspberry, dark cherry and cinnamon. Nose really opened up over 2 hours. The wine was medium bodied with flavors of raspberry, blackberry, sour cherry and a earthy note of the finish. Seems this wine was a touch better in it's youth. The fruit really exploded on the palate more. Time has receded the explosiveness of the flavors. Still a nice wine though. (1676 views)
Tasted by wondersofwine on 1/30/2014 & rated 87 points: 14.5% abv. Mazuelo grapes: 40%; Syrah: 40%; Garnacha (Grenache): 20%. Very dark purple color and opaque in the glass. Nose of dark fruits with maybe a hint of rhubarb. Somewhat tannic but the blackberry/boysenberry fruitiness makes it an easy drinker for a casual meal such as burgers, sloppy joes or maybe tacos. I also tried it with smoked Gouda cheese and liked the pairing. (1961 views)
Tasted by SLOFred on 1/11/2014 & rated 88 points: Not a bad wine. Got better after about 1.5 hours after opening. I would definitely drink what you have in the next couple of years. (1833 views)
Tasted by csnyder612 on 10/30/2013 & rated 90 points: Coffee and fresh black earth, licorice, oak. Ruby fading to the rim. Medium body, firm and rounded tannins, medium acidity, The legs are Slow. It tastes like Prune, Mineral, Oak, and Stoniness. (2085 views)
Tasted by AAJR on 10/14/2013 & rated 89 points: Great QPR. (1928 views)
Tasted by cbbrown3 on 8/9/2013 & rated 91 points: The wine is a deep maroon color. The very intriguing nose has plums, minerals, dying wood embers, blackberries, dried herbs, cherry, baking spices, melted licorice, and dried herbs. This has medium body, moderate to solid tannins, and very good acidity. On the palate spicy plums and berries lead the show with dried herbs and spicy oak coming in on the back end. The finish is fairly long with some nice minerality coming into the picture and ends with a smoky note that just seems to hand on forever. This is now in a very nice drinking window and it should hold for a few years. A steal for south of $15. (2350 views)

Industrious and sturdy. Spanish grapes in Italy. Sensato

Tasted by intelligentsia on 5/9/2013 & rated 86 points: A nice wine at a fair price (~$13). Typical Spanish notes of cherry, leather, and wood. Started out a little restrained and under-ripe, but opened up some by the second glass. A decant on the next bottle would be in order. Fun diversion from our typical California lineup, but nothing to get too excited about. (2264 views)
Tasted by wine30flight on 4/29/2013 & rated 89 points: Such a nice find, the 2009 Blau opens and finishes with cranberry, and is nothing but supple red fruit throughout. Hard to nail it down, but I could sip this one alone (which we did) or pair it with a some simple tapas dishes at dinner. It just made me smile. (1965 views)
Tasted by Ceo on 3/26/2013 & rated 90 points: Always a great wine. (2145 views)
Tasted by Winoluver on 2/19/2013 & rated 90 points: Very surprising wine. Couldn't remember when/where I bought. Earthy nose wt tartness from acidity I liked. After tartness, fruit present....cherry wt leather & oak. Would get more of this mystery wine. (2131 views)

Vinos de España - Wines of Spain (Instituto Español de Comercio Exterior) | Wikipedia
Wine Map on weinlagen-info

Spain is the third largest wine producing nation in the world, occupying the majority of the Iberian Peninsula with vast diversity in climate, culture, and of course, wine. From inky, dark reds of the [Priorat] to dry, white Finos from Andalusia, Spain can easily boast of elaborating a wide variety of notable styles. Within Spain there are currently 62 demarcated wine regions, of which a handful have gained international recognition: [Rioja], Priorat and [Ribera del Duero]. Yet these regions are only a small sample of the high quality wines Spain produces. Regions such as Cava, Penedes, Somontano, Galicia, Rueda and Jerez are only a few of the numerous regions worthy of exploration throughout Spain. Spain can also lay claim to having the most land under vine in the world, growing up to, by some accounts, 600 indigenous varietals of which Tempranillo is their most well known. Other popular varietals include [Garnacha], Bobal and Monastrell for reds and for whites; the infamous [sic] Palomino Fino grape which is used in the production of sherry wine, Pedro Ximenez in Montilla Morilles, Albarino used in the creation of the bright, effervescent wines of Galicia, and Verdejo in Rueda. - Source: - Catavino.net

Spain is not in the forefront of winemaking for its dessert wines, other than for its sweet wines from Sherry country including the highly revered Olorosos (when sweetened). But apart from Sherry Spain has a range of styles of dessert wines, ranging from the those made from the Pedro Ximenez grape primarily in Jerez and Montilla-Moriles) to luscious, red dessert wines made in the Mediterranean from the Garnacha (Grenache) grape. Some good Moscatels are made in Mallorca, Alicante and Navarre. The northwest corner of Spain, Galicia, with its bitter Atlantic climate, is even making dessert wines, called “Tostadillos” in the village of Ribadivia (similar to France’s “Vin de Paille”). The Canary Islands have made interesting dessert wines for centuries (they are mentioned by Shakespeare, for example) and in recent years the quality of winemaking has been improved and the Canary Islands wines are being better marketed now. The winemaking styles for “Vinos Dulces” are also diverse, from “Late Harvest” (Vendimia Tardía) to “Fortified Wines” (Fermentación Parcial). Based on in-spain.info.
