Tasted by Hamersly on 12/17/2023 & rated 94 points: This is just gorgeous, plush but with great depth and structure. Should have a few more years at this level. (199 views)
Tasted by rogerr on 3/6/2020 & rated 93 points: In a good drinking window. Still fresh and fruit dominant. (1578 views)
Tasted by cubswinws on 11/27/2019 & rated 93 points: From magnum. Soft and mellow with great fruit core of red fruit and spice. Wonderful. (1578 views)
Tasted by buckeye76 on 10/5/2019 & rated 93 points: Similar notes as bottle opened earlier this year. Perfumy nose with rich fruit. Black cherries, blackberries, raspberries, and licorice with spice and floral notes. Medium to full bodied, and a long finish. (1615 views)
Tasted by buckeye76 on 4/12/2019 & rated 92 points: Perfumy nose with rich fruit. Blackberries, black cherries, raspberries, cherries, and licorice with spice and floral notes. Medium bodied, and a long finish. (1813 views)
Tasted by jonahfactor on 11/9/2018: With H&M to celebrate surviving the fires. In decline, but still pushes the right buttons. Floral and mineral bouquet and offering blackberries and cedar on the palate. Shorter finish than I remembered. I liked it better in its youth, when it was gushing with fruit. But the secondary notes of tobacco and antique wood help make up for that. (1913 views)
Tasted by corkscrews on 11/5/2017 & rated 92 points: Similar to last note, a delicious wine. www.winelx.com (1818 views)
Tasted by Wine Warrior 1 on 7/3/2017 & rated 92 points: This wine has a pretty nose that speaks to the GSM nature of the wine. A melody of cherry and dark cherry, raspberry and Cola (stole this from another comment and it is spot on) I like the amount of the oak on this wine. There is plenty of fruit left. Not an amazing wine but fun to drink. (1762 views)
Tasted by the_art_of_drink_ing on 12/10/2016: Really good nose on this one...bright red fruits, floral. Good balance of fruit and acidity as well. Liked this much more than the 2010 Zin blend Problem Child. This us much more balanced and a better food wine. (1971 views)
Tasted by Reno-Rhone on 10/19/2016 & rated 92 points: Great, fruity wine. It is just about the right time to drink but may be okay for a couple more years. (1944 views)
Tasted by rogerr on 5/18/2016 & rated 93 points: Drinking well but next to a 2008 it is clear this needs more time in bottle. (2062 views)
Tasted by jonahfactor on 4/8/2016: Solid, although at this price point it should deliver more than "solid." An alluring bouquet offering great purity. Restrained fruit with a cedar overlay and some nice minerals in the short finish. Seems like it's out of gas. If this offering were sub-$25 this would be a "should buy." (=Pass) (1691 views)
Tasted by corkscrews on 10/29/2015 & rated 92 points: A nose of dark fruits and spice, dark purple in color. A bold full bodied GSM, with raspberry, cherry liquor, cola and spices, a long finish, as always with all LC wines, a great blend. www.winelx.com (1869 views)
Tasted by dtirsell on 2/18/2015 & rated 92 points: Rich and complex, some pepper, and bright red/raspberry fruit on the nose. Long finish, deepened over the evening. (2214 views)
Tasted by EhrlichDY on 1/5/2015: I liked this a bit more than I expected to. Ripe, sweet, fruit and round tannins. Very smooth and gulpably delicious. I don't see any reason to age this further. Drink now. (2089 views)
Tasted by Sennma on 1/4/2015: Have been pretty disappointed with Linne lately...a lot of the bottles have come off as unbalanced and hot. This showed much better with nice ripe fruit but with some structure to hold it all together. (1905 views)
Tasted by peternelson on 10/4/2014 & rated 90 points: Sweet cassis and red cherry, raspberry with red flowers; easy, ripe, with more dusty tannins and glycerin finish. High alcohol shows in a bitter finish. Was not that impressed. Maybe 89. 15.3%. (2036 views)
Tasted by ELH on 3/28/2014 & rated 93 points: Delightful blend of Grenache 71%, Mourvedre 19%, and Syrah 10%. Fully integrated and in good drinking window. Each varietal contributes in a nuanced way. (2414 views)
Tasted by Badgermitch on 12/7/2013 & rated 90 points: Delicious GSM blend. Served with a prosciutto risotto and it was terrific. (2397 views)
Tasted by twoamps on 11/21/2013 & rated 92 points: middle of the road LC GSM, which is to say, highly extracted but well-balanced fruit, nice bite, and good tannins. Nothing overwhelming, nothing wimpy. (2100 views)
Tasted by tantotinto on 11/16/2013 & rated 92 points: Very aromatic. Licorice and ripe fruit. Blackberry, black cherry, anise and tar flavor. Minimal tannins. Maybe a bit more mellow than our last bottle. Big, rich and smooth. Excellent. (2121 views)
Tasted by jeagle on 11/4/2013 & rated 91 points: Decanted through an aerator 5 hours prior to tasting. I was not pleased with this wine upon release, but another year in the bottle has added flesh and taste dimension. Perhaps the nicest quality is the mouthfeel which delivers a sense of richness with a gritty underlay. (2244 views)
Tasted by JDRFoster on 10/28/2013 & rated 93 points: Bright, fresh, vibrant, with gobs of raspberry, tart cherry, and notes of blackberry, spice, and crushed stones. Medium ruby-purple. Medium plus finish. Drinking quite well now, with several years of enjoyment ahead. (1611 views)
Tasted by rdf58 on 10/27/2013 & rated 91 points: Saturated ruby color with mineral and earth aromas. Good core of red berry fruit with an overlay of minerality and leather. Medium bodied with a nice mouthfeel and fine grained tannins. Drinking well at this point. (1452 views)
Tasted by cubswinws on 9/25/2013 & rated 93 points: Perfectly smooth and delightful. Drinking really well now after 2 hour slow ox. One of my favorite wines from LC. (1604 views)

Linne Calodo

Producer website

... a family-owned and operated winery, focused on the production of unique and exceptional, hand-crafted wines. Our name, Linne Calodo, describes the distinctive limestone soils of the west side of Paso Robles where our vineyards are located. We are proud to be creating unfined and unfiltered wines balanced through the blending of Rhone and Zinfandel varietals.

2010 Linne Calodo Sticks and Stones

71% Grenache, 19% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, $72/btl
A compilation of vineyard sites and the resounding desire to showcase Grenache helps to create this wine. With vineyard sites at Booker, Denner, Caliza and Linne Calodo, I am able to assemble a wine that reflects my vision of Westside Paso Robles. First a brilliant dash of bright and explosive Grenache from LC and Denner followed by the deep and brooding Syrahs of Booker and Caliza. Combine with a couple barrels of Mourvedre and you have a wine that is pure genius.

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
