Community Tasting Notes (average 88 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 9 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Rayden on 12/18/2014 & rated 90 points: My last bottle. Needs time to open up and stabilise. Probably was a bit critical on the last bottle. Strong tannins making a firm dry, lengthy finish. Wouldn't throw out in the wash water!
Good drinking right now. (350 views)
Tasted by Rayden on 5/25/2014 & rated 88 points: Rich dark colour. Nothing exceptional by nose but solid fruit upfront and long dry finish makes up. A reliable Hilltops vintage (599 views)
Tasted by Lijmes on 2/18/2013 & rated 85 points: Deep dark crimson hue, bright nose of dark cherries, lined with strong backbone of vanilla oak. Slight undertones of plum & earth which transitions to peppery notes at medium length upon decanting. Firmly medium body, medium to heavy tannin with slight fruitiness. Savoury on the palate, nicely balanced with a pretty smooth mouthfeel. Long dry finish with a slight vegetal, liquorice aftertaste. Good wine for the price, however not overly impressive.  Tasted by Avid Wino on 2/17/2013 & rated 91 points: Ripe blackcurrant, blackberry and mulberry, plus herbs and chocolatey oak. Well balanced, tannin structure spot on, and decent persistence. (775 views)
Tasted by startinoz on 2/16/2013 & rated 88 points: Rather disappointing given the brand/hype. (680 views)
Tasted by deanmillson on 10/16/2012 & rated 85 points: Pretty simple. Blackberry & raspberry nose. One dimensional palate. Simple berry fruit, fairly good acid structure but not really much tannin or structure. Drink now, won't be long lived. (779 views)
Tasted by StewartWent on 9/30/2012 & rated 85 points: Not up to the level of the 2009. A bit simple, straightforward and doesn't really speak of purpose or place. Doesn't lack punch for what is a medium bodied wine but the red fruit don't really have any character. Nice powdery tannin to finish. (618 views)
