Tasted by fdub on 5/10/2014 & rated 90 points: Great value SB. Mint, floral, and grassy notes on the nose. Juniper berries on the palate. (1931 views)
Tasted by Tubulus on 3/29/2014 & rated 91 points: Equally good but a bit less of the ocean-y taste from my last bottle. Yum. (1797 views)
Tasted by Oakjeff on 3/11/2014 & rated 88 points: Not as good as previous bottle. (1823 views)
Tasted by Tubulus on 1/19/2014 & rated 91 points: Very interesting, in a good way. Thicker mouthfeel, slightly saline/fishy taste (but not bad). Herbal, some fruit. Fun. (1942 views)
Tasted by Nanda on 12/31/2013 & rated 92 points: Big nose with tropical fruit, grapefruit and beeswax aromas. Palate is medium body with more body than a typical SB. Round, sunny fruit is supported by medium juicy acidity. This is a bigger SB - night lean and racy - but fruity and fresh. Packs a delicious flavorful punch. Good in a non-typical style. (2084 views)
Tasted by David_T on 9/29/2013 & rated 89 points: Not quite as fresh as a year ago but still enjoyable. Notes very similar to those from my previous bottle but there's more of a salinity aspect and the wood aging shows a bit more prominently. Drink now. (1408 views)
Tasted by pdemaio on 9/19/2013 & rated 92 points: Fuller bodied. Excellent complexity. A complex white with a lot to think about. (1336 views)
Tasted by drdebs on 7/29/2013 & rated 91 points: NOW I get it. I am discovering I like Bedrock whites about 1 year after I receive them. They develop fantastic complexity--in this case white grapefruit, lemon, and sea salt notes. Very nicely done. Will keep my 2012 until next year! (1595 views)
Tasted by Uglypinga on 7/21/2013: bright lemongrass salty nose. clean and crisp with nice acid and just a hint of beeswax. good wine (1375 views)
Tasted by rdf58 on 6/20/2013 & rated 91 points: Again, very consistent bottle to bottle. Tropical aromas with hint of grapefruit and chalky minerality on the finish. Fairly rich mouth feel for a sauvignon blanc. Nicely balanced between new and old world styles. Excellent effort for a California SB. (1425 views)
Tasted by marka on 6/1/2013 & rated 87 points: Perhaps over the hill? THere are moments of the buttery tast of a Cali Chard. Not bad as something to sip prior to Cab and steak. Not as good as the ones from last summer. On to the 2012s. (1153 views)
Tasted by Oakjeff on 5/17/2013 & rated 91 points: It has been a really long time since I have enjoyed a Sauvignon Blanc as much as this one.

I am on the Bedrock mailing list and did not receive my Spring '12 order until recently. This '11 is gorgeous. Lemon zest and smokiness on the nose. Fuller than average mouth with a subtle creaminess. Terrific finish with vibrant acidity.

This wine has at least another year in it. (1318 views)
Tasted by haldolugr on 5/1/2013 & rated 88 points: Best bottle of the 8 I had. Slight flinty edge to it, but crisp acid and sweet fruit blend to create a nice mouth of wine! (1251 views)
Tasted by lsnider on 4/18/2013 & rated 92 points: This one was my last bottle of the the 2011 and gave it an extra point from my other bottles as I thought this had improved a lot since last year. Just a great example in what I like to see in a SB. The tropical fruit notes just seemed so clean and crisp. (1246 views)
Tasted by Backdoctor on 4/13/2013 & rated 90 points: consistent, bright and acidic. love this SB (1255 views)
Tasted by marka on 2/17/2013: - Aromas of grapefruit and lemon and has flavours of grapefruit - Citrus notes, particularly lemon zest. Nice aromatics going on with this over a couple of days. For $22 it is hard to beat. (1657 views)
Tasted by Anonymous on 2/11/2013: Forgot to note this wine which I pulled out of my cellar on Feb. 11th. I'm not necessarily a huge SB fan, but this one avoids the over-the-top grassy aspect that I often find in Cali versions. This was more citrus, with a nice lush mouthfeel, while still maintaining structure. (1543 views)
Tasted by Brsed on 1/19/2013 & rated 91 points: At party. No formal notes, but very enjoyable. Since citrus element. (1740 views)
Tasted by rdf58 on 1/18/2013 & rated 91 points: Very consistent and similar to previous bottle. Tropical aromas with lime-citrus flavors followed by a touch of chalky minerality on the finish. Relatively rich mouthfeel for a sauvignon blanc. Good match with a variety of foods. (1666 views)
Tasted by Ridgerunner on 12/31/2012 & rated 90 points: This as excited as I get from a bottle of SB (1719 views)
Tasted by jcsf420 on 12/11/2012 & rated 90 points: Well made, well balanced and great with food. What could be better? Love the Bedrock reds, getting hooked on the whites now too. (1609 views)
Tasted by DavidDay on 11/18/2012 & rated 91 points: Nicely balanced sauvignon blanc (1987 views)
Tasted by beezer6 on 10/19/2012 & rated 91 points: Johnny's Going Away Dinner (Scoozi, Chicago): Greg brought this to dinner for Johnny's going away at Scoozi.
Fresh piney, green but ripe qualities. Green apple Jolly Rancher candy. Lots of caressing fruit and spice as well.
Expressive and complex but extremely approachable. Really intriguing and well made wine. (2169 views)
Tasted by OneLastSyrah on 9/22/2012 & rated 92 points: 13.4 % ABV. Light straw in the glass. More distinctive nose than my previous bottle, with a lemon thyme, beeswax, tree sap quality that is fairly intriguing. Touch saline as well. Medium-light bodied on the palate with nice cut but a creamy mid palate. (2643 views)
Tasted by Sauvyfan on 9/20/2012 & rated 90 points: Very nice. Though I prefer 2010, without the barrel fermentation and malo. This has some great characteristics and body. Great citrus on the nose, minerality. The Kick Ranch SB is some of the best I've had from Cali. MTP will be a winemaker for the ages someday. He's just getting started. (2330 views)

2011 Bedrock Wine Co. Sauvignon Blanc Kick Ranch

2011 Kick Ranch Sauvignon Blanc: As usual the steep and rocky hillsides of Kick Ranch yielded a small crop of flavorful Sauvignon Blanc. I picked about a week before anyone else knowing the barrel fermentation and lees stirring were going to add plenty of richness to the final wine. Always fiddling/attempting to perfect I changed up the vinification a little bit. Much of the Sauvignon Musque went down to used barrels along with 12% new Acacia wood. The remainder was fermented in a 600 gallon oak foudre to enhance lees contact without as much stirring. I am very pleased with the resulting wine- perfumey and high-tone but possessing a lifted but broad center. 450 cases made. $22
