Tasted by Cellarseller on 12/7/2015 & rated 91 points: What a wonderful rich, full bodied flexible wine. Dark, rich texture with smooth tannins. Cherry flavors that morph to plum with beef stew and cocoa w dark chocolate. Wish I bought more. (1548 views)
Tasted by Conde on 2/27/2014 & rated 88 points: Mörkt violett ända ut i kanten till färgen. (2228 views)
Tasted by Magners on 5/3/2013: Extremely fruity on the palate with nice tannins, ready to drink now. Blackberries, black currant, sweet licourice, chocolate and some glue/paint-component. A touch of alcohole in the end. A very interesting and powerful wine. (2679 views)
Tasted by COWineLover on 3/21/2013 & rated 90 points: Nice crushed dark fruits on the nose including black berries and raspberry, and a mixture of herb de Provence. Very lively acidity, with the raspberry and Provence hanging on the 30 second finish. A subtle minerality that is very elegant for the price point. Very solid QPR. (1683 views)
Tasted by COWineLover on 1/1/2013 & rated 88 points: The nose has subtle mushroom and green pepper notes along with a bit of briar that hangs on the garnet color. The wine is light and fresh with a crisp acidity that opens the palate. The flavors in the mouth are very light, and somewhat masked by the acidity. There is a subtle raspberry and cranberry that briefly holds on the rather short mineral aftertaste finish. (1042 views)
Tasted by K&J on 11/30/2012 & rated 92 points: Medium to full body with round, rich, balanced structure. Black licorice flavor in the background. Had a sweetness component without being sweet. (2243 views)
Tasted by europat55 on 9/28/2012 & rated 84 points: Fruity nose. Some sweetness. Harsh palate. Needs food. (1129 views)
Tasted by chatters on 8/7/2012: Portuguese Reds (Sydney): Colour: Deep Ruby
Nose: Medium intensity, clean and developing wine with aromas of leather, meat, farmyard, herbs and red cherry
Mouth: Medium plus acid and tannin, leather, cherry, chewy, big! (1533 views)
Tasted by DollarMenunaire on 5/21/2012 & rated 92 points: One of the best QPR reds you will find. It's not just good for the price like a $16 Cotes du Rhone, but a generously expressive fine wine with terroir that continues to evolve with air. It's voluptuous and concentrated with a specifically exotic bouquet and tons of mineral that only a dry Douro can express. The 14.5% alcohol is in the range of many Spanish reds at the same price and it's an apt comparison. But unlike the typical Spanish counterparts, the Vallado does not come across as either "modern" (oaky and hot) or "rustic" (dirty) which the Spanish ones tend to fall on one side of the fence or the other. The mouthfeel of the Vallado more than carries the alcohol and keeps it in an Old World style, and that's the rarest quality of all. That isn't something I think you're going to find very often in Spain, France, or Italy. (1720 views)
Tasted by grafstrb on 5/12/2012: -- popped and poured --
-- tasted a couple pours non-blind at the winery --

NOSE: moderately expressive: strawberry; spicy.

BODY: violet color of great depth; medium-full to full bodied.

TASTE: spicy; floral; purple/red fruits; tannins are drying; good acidity; 14.5% alcohol; I enjoyed this unique bottling. Spent 20 months in new French oak. (2244 views)
