Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 87.9 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 37 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by CelesteVaught on 6/5/2015: It's probably just personal preference and an untrained palate but I wasn't crazy about it. It was a little bitter for my taste. (2617 views)
Tasted by Escher Cellars on 11/17/2014 & rated 85 points: Rather balanced with dust/tobacco on the nose, very faint after-smell. Would rather spend the $ on a Spanish tempranillo next time. Cheers. (2996 views)
Tasted by Jayarr on 2/24/2014 & rated 85 points: Dark purple, dark fruit on the nose. Quite soft and it took a bit for the fruit to come forward. Not much to it, at least for me. (3767 views)
Tasted by Yannisf on 12/24/2013 & rated 89 points: It tasted much better the second day (4035 views)
Tasted by BlancdeBlanc on 8/15/2013 & rated 84 points: Nose: tobacco Palate: muted dark fruits, thin cola finish which faded quickly. Tastes like wine-by-the-glass in a cheap bar. (4532 views)
Tasted by Mike Ritner on 6/8/2013: Deep beet color. Medium body. Pop 'n pour. Nose and palate filled with plums, blackberry, dust, and spice. Smooth, fine tannins, with a nice tangy finish. Good value, high quality wine for the price. Ready to drink, but no big hurry. (2995 views)
Tasted by kcsteve on 2/23/2013: Drank by others at our wine tasting - did not taste. (3280 views)
Tasted by amateurwino on 2/17/2013: A brooding, dark blend of tinto roriz (yet another name for tempranillo), touriga nacional and touriga franca from the Douro DOC, and shows the profile of an international red - French oak aging and dark, concentrated primary fruits. Solid for under $15, but I'd probably rather spend a bit more to get an icon wine from the producer and be bowled over. From sample bottle. (2564 views)
Tasted by Scott&LisaKellogg on 12/3/2012: Really good Portuguese Duro at a great price. Medium/full body with smooth taste. Nice fruit finish light but tannins. (2881 views)
Tasted by JoshA on 11/2/2012 & rated 87 points: Concentrated fruit, plummy, and somewhat hot. (2240 views)
Tasted by JoshA on 11/2/2012 & rated 87 points: Good fruit and full bodied. (2488 views)
Tasted by rallylizard on 10/21/2012 & rated 90 points: Floral nose, allowed to decant about 30 minutes in our glasses and the fragrances filled the room. Still a little tight after 30 minutes, with our second bottle we'll do 45-60 min decant. Inky purple color, strong tannic structure, full body and intense ripe fruit. There is a nice mild wood and spice to the long finish. We were very impressed with this and at $15/bottle we are glad we picked up a half case, excellent QPR, love Portugal! (2348 views)
Tasted by Annie1 on 9/8/2012 & rated 82 points: Easy drinking...rather light with a bitter finish. Ok. (2223 views)
Tasted by Cabfrancophile on 8/2/2012 & rated 80 points: A little shy, but nice aromas: dark fruits, floral, and reductive funk (truffle/rubber tire depending on your POV). Decent freshly fruited attack, but hollows out in the middle before finishing on a soapy note. Mild tannic structure. I'd say drink up otherwise the bitterness will be more pronounced. (2082 views)
Tasted by J Petrone on 6/25/2012 & rated 90 points: Waited to long for great description but takes a while to open up. Recommend 2 hours our double decant. Muscular, medium-full body with nice ripe fruit and medium finish. Love that barnyard. (2074 views)
