Tasted by Harley1199 on 1/21/2022: Third of six. Here we go again, estimated Schlaepdog. Time is running and eight years on since I opened the first one. Quite solid purple colour. In this particular ocassion the nose showed direct and linear with notes of iron ore, blackberries, dry wood and mineral of anthracite. Basically repetitive, steady, continued. Let's talk about performance on the palate. Monolithic. Couldn't find those soft tannins anywhere. Seriously firm yet bored at the second sip. Once again much better with hearty food. Acid as usual. Long and slightly tannic finish. Couldn't find its supposed charm either.
Sorry Elisabetta if I am not really enthusiastic with this wine ... still :-) Good value? I agree that at 21€ ten years ago, it is not an expensive wine. C'est tout. Considering nowadays this wine cost around 60€, trading it's a good option IMHO. Vulgarity 'in excelsis' as the score reflects.

(1025 views)
Tasted by burgundybrooks on 8/18/2020 & rated 89 points: wonderful dry soft tannin wine, still has a nice dusty, dark fruit. (1298 views)
Tasted by SchlaepDog on 11/27/2019 & rated 93 points: Lots of life left here as this wine was vigorous and youthful. Lip-smacking vibrant red/black fruits with a nice mineral laden fruit finish along with a slight saline note. Lingers so nicely on the tongue with notable, but not obtrusive tannin.

Just hitting its stride, this wine will easily go another 5 years before fading and possibly another 10 years. Fantastic QPR at $20 US dollars. (1751 views)
Tasted by Softie on 11/21/2019: Still lovely. See prior tasting note. (1530 views)
Tasted by aknot13 on 5/10/2019 & rated 91 points: Barnyard, dark fruits (cherries), earth, spices. Mouth: very juicy dark fruits, medium+ acidity, medium body, medium- tannins, medium+ earthy finish. Great QPR - 91 pt. (1698 views)
Tasted by YoRi on 4/9/2019 & rated 91 points: Apparence rouge grenat soutenu, reflet bleuté.
(1390 views)

Tasted by Harley1199 on 8/15/2018: Four years have passed since the previous bottle and there is a positive evolution indeed here but there is still a lot to develop.
Memories of cherries and strawberries inserted in a rough stick. Also notes of coal mineral. When well-aired notes of iron (mercurochrome).
Served directly when leaving the refrigerator and warming slowly in the glass. Tannins have softened and the current state of acidity allows at least this time to be drunk pairing a very contundent food. In ten years it will be perfect. Next revision in five or so. Don't rush and remember: curiosity killed the cat.

Tras airearse bien, notas a hierro (Mercurocromo).
(1322 views)
Tasted by Softie on 7/3/2018: Having my first bottle of this for some years - maybe as far back as 2013.

Still delicious berry fruit and a little saddle leather on nose and mid-palate. Acid structure seems very solid. Actually rather underdeveloped for a nine year old wine. I just love the Italian high acid, sour red wines. Darn enjoyable drinking with or without food.

I'd have no concerns at all haqving my next two bottles in 2 and 4 years time. (1626 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 6/8/2018: Super fresh and lively darn tasty. (1326 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 10/1/2017: Well, leaving it open all night in the fridge didn't help the half bottle any. (2006 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 1/10/2017: Wow, to me this was just a stunner right now. From half bottle. The bitter back end (which I love) is all smoothed out. Lots of deep fruit but so supple and smooth. (2124 views)
Tasted by chatters on 12/24/2016: Coravin fun - 2016 Christmas selection process (Kennards, Waterloo): In this line up this wines youth shows. Primary blackcurrant fruit and plummy fruit & cream and just the merest whiff of tertiary characteristics in the form of a touch of leather. In the mouth it's rich spicy and dense with firm tannins. Nice. (2340 views)
Tasted by Finare Vinare on 6/23/2016 & rated 90 points: Still fairly youthful, dense and structured. Can go for several years more. (2808 views)
Tasted by MLipton on 3/13/2016: Rich, lush dark fruits with a hint of VA overlaying them. Less acidic than I would have expected/hoped, but still a good match for pasta fra diavolo. Enjoyable but not particularly complex. (2700 views)
Tasted by portman63 on 8/30/2015 & rated 90 points: Dark currant and raspberry and some briar patch elements. Tannins resolved and quite pleasant and silky. This seems the right age for this as an entry-level wine. I fear the fruit will start to fade soon, but this is a very well-made wine just not quite as complex as the Granato. (3278 views)
Tasted by Blauweiss on 5/1/2015 & rated 90 points: Lots of dark as weaa as red berries on nose and palate. Medium bodied with very fresh acidity, also quite long. Food friendly-stuff, could last another 5 years. (2942 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 2/1/2015: From a half bottle right in the pocket and drinking deliciously right now. Amazing stuff to me. Equals second growth bordeaux. (3299 views)
Tasted by aknot13 on 1/9/2015 & rated 90 points: Wine is still very young and could use some more years in the cellar. (2831 views)

Tasted by Collector1855 on 11/15/2014 & rated 93 points: Tasted at Wine Advocat event - A matter of taste. Grape variety Teroldego (you are never finished discovering I guess). Dark ruby. Expressive nose of red and black fruit with some spices, tar and stones. Really intense on the palate with good mid mouth feel. Aromatically very complex and well balanced. What a wine for this price! (2599 views)
Tasted by Harley1199 on 5/2/2014: Dark violet colour.
Pretty fragrant mineral nose with aromas of blackberries and something that can be described as indian gooseberry sauce, or so.
At this point, wine showed one of the driest tannins ever I've experimented, quite woody, acidic to the bone. That's not a real pleasure to be drink this, I promise.
A fresh bolognese pasta tried to pair it.
Gonna give time to the rest of my half case.

(4016 views)
Tasted by WetRock on 12/22/2013: Most similar to a Bandol on the lighter side. Powerful acidity really the lifts the fruit here which was probably lacking a bit. The nose showed more complexity than the palate. Nice wine for the money when it's all said and done though. (3146 views)
Tasted by denver_vinder on 12/21/2013 & rated 91 points: Shiny red/purple, slowly opening nose with blackberries, earthy tones and a touch of vanilla. Significant tannins and adequate fruit acid. Blackberries, sweet rhubarb, herbs and notes of celery and pomegranate. Nice, long aftertaste. Even though it is not mature, this wine shows its great potential. Elisabetta Foradori simply never produces a bad wine and this one is not an exception! Unfortunately I have to wait a few years with the Granato of the same vintage... (3091 views)
Tasted by mmh on 7/31/2013 & rated 90 points: A really intriguing combination of the full, rich and opulent, as well as freshness and elegance. There is chocolate, liquorice and ripe fruits on one hand, but fresh red berries, purity and acidity on the other. Despite these contradictions, there is a great balance. Drinking perfectly right now. (3974 views)

Teroldego

Teroldego A vine of northern Italy’s Trentino-Alto-Adige zone, Teroldego is thought to have arrived there from the area of Verona around the shores of Lake Garda. It was first documented by name in various works of the early 1800s, and has more recently been shown to be genetically related to the Syrah, Marzemino and Lagrein varieties. It is planted almost exclusively in the Campo Rotaliano in the Adige Valley north of Trento, and its sole appellation of origin is Teroldigo Rotaliano D.O.C.

Teroldego takes its name from its traditional method of cultivation, trained on a system of “tirelle” or wire harnesses. A cool-climate vine, it is hardy, vigorous and potentially prolific, and best suited to permeable, well drained soils. It has large, pentagonal, three-lobed leaves and the compact, elongated, pyramidal bunches support medium to small, round, blue black berries with thick, resistant, dusky skins. The fruit is low in tannin but high in aroma, color, extract, acidity, sugar and potential alcohol.

Teroldego is easily overcropped to produce bright, fresh, balanced, fruity wines to be drunk young. Its personality is transformed if yield is restricted, when it offers lush, concentrated dark stone fruit and black cherry flavors and aromas offset by smoke, herb and bitter almond notes. It is marked by a particularly fine acidic balance and complexity, and restrained oak contact rounds out its structure. Alternate names: Tiroldola, Tiraldega.
