Community Tasting Notes (average 91.6 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 135 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by gesusser on 4/14/2015 & rated 93 points: Excellent zin, singing after a one hour decant, time has helped this bottle and no need to rush to finish other bottles (913 views)
Tasted by levinml on 3/2/2015 & rated 93 points: What a fun week or so I've had with Zins; high quality Carlisle, Limerick Lane and Turley in the span of about a week. This was the last of the three, and Pesenti is always one of my favorite turleys. Big fruit, big buzz. Don't drink it all yourself in one night (three is OK), but great drinking. (886 views)
Tasted by Matt T on 2/7/2015 & rated 91 points: Excellent example of Turley. Fruit forward with prominent notes of raspberry and cherry and a nice lanolin-like undercurrent of acid and tannin. (859 views)
Tasted by jdjjadair on 1/31/2015 & rated 92 points: Likely at its peak. Smooth and complex. (919 views)
Tasted by La Cave d'Argent on 1/5/2015 & rated 92 points: Deep ruby and very floral on the nose, this Zinfandel offers up aromas of lavender, black raspberries, black pepper and underbrush. Full-bodied, fresh and with medium-weight, fine-grained tannins, it serves up flavors on the palate which mirror the aromas on the nose. The listed alcohol (16.3%) is what one would expect from a fortified wine...yet it somehow goes unnoticed! Solid in the middle and long on the finish, this is yet another impressive Turley offering. I am not quite sure how they pull this off, but it is nothing short of brilliant. Drink now-2017. (1250 views)
Tasted by burgbob on 11/22/2014 & rated 92 points: Rich dark fruited and ready to drink with flavorful food. (1186 views)
Tasted by gesusser on 11/14/2014 & rated 92 points: Short decant but the hi ETOH needs a little more time to dissipate; solid dark and tasty turley zin, no rush to drink (1129 views)
Tasted by Rktekt3 on 10/18/2014 & rated 90 points: This is a very well made zinfandel but i think there have been better vintages from the Pesenti vineyard. Solid 90 point wine with great color, really good nose and good fruit flavors on the palatte. (1288 views)
Tasted by jonahfactor on 10/10/2014 & rated 94 points: Singing like a songbird right now. The bouquet poured out of the bottle upon uncorking with lusty raspberry, blackberry and black cherry notes that trailed along onto the palate and into the finish. Spice and garrigue catch your attention within about an hour in the glass. Purple/blood red with fetching legs and a full body. Spot-on acidity keeps things fresh and prevents the fruit from becoming overbearing. Year in and year out our consistently favorite Turley offering. The 2010 is among their best. A must-have for Zin lovers. (1110 views)
Tasted by raiderwes on 9/26/2014 & rated 92 points: a really fine Turley; dark, big fruit (1042 views)
Tasted by danielbleier on 9/8/2014 & rated 94 points: consistent with notes of 11/2/2013 - a remarkable blackberry note dominates this wine. (1207 views)
Tasted by raiderwes on 9/1/2014 & rated 93 points: dark, big fruit; just a little spice (971 views)
Tasted by Tony Poli on 8/31/2014 & rated 94 points: Dark red/purple. Expressive, fruity nose with some spice. Powerful but balanced palate, with lots of fruit, smooth tannins, some pepper and spice. Didn't taste or notice the alcohol at all. Paired with a herb encrusted grilled beef tenderloin - this pairing was nearly perfect. I find myself really enjoying the Central Coast Turleys. (813 views)
Tasted by BigSchmove on 8/15/2014 & rated 93 points: I love everything about this. The nose, body, flavor and finish. my personal fav turley vineyard so i'm biased I love this. (907 views)
Tasted by Old Gray Hare on 8/9/2014 & rated 90 points: Deep and rich. Pepper was the striking flavor (596 views)
Tasted by Xfactor on 7/14/2014 & rated 92 points: Really encompasses the bombastic side of Cali-zin, but without the disjointed fruit. This bottle continued to compose over the evening. (1102 views)
Tasted by cstir on 6/21/2014 & rated 91 points: Continues to be enjoyable; similar to previous. (1019 views)
Tasted by N.Bonaparte on 6/20/2014 & rated 91 points: Popped and poured- full bodied- some heat initially but good finish. Somewhat integrated. Should be fully integrated and in prime in 2-3 years. (946 views)
Tasted by johnny1206 on 5/31/2014 & rated 90 points: Opened and poured at dinner. Nice aroma and flavors. Smooth finish. (1130 views)
Tasted by Jprice on 5/10/2014 & rated 92 points: Needs another year plus of age to be a ready drinker. (1030 views)
Tasted by pjbeans on 5/9/2014 & rated 89 points: Deep purple, dark red fruit on the nose and palate. Pepper and more pepper on the nose and palate. Medium Acid. Nicely integrated mellow tannins (911 views)
Tasted by Ecoenophile on 5/5/2014 & rated 91 points: Deep purple to the rim. Rich, floral and spice on the nose. Slightly sweet (really "candied") fruits in initial taste - cherry, plum... then beocmes more balanced. Smooth tannins make for a typical Turley long finish. Very enjoyable... if a bit large. (847 views)
Tasted by cstir on 4/19/2014 & rated 91 points: Drank both the '09 and '10; both were excellent. The '09 had more spice and intensity; the '10 was softer and more reserved. Both had good fruit and flavor. The '09 finish was a bit longer. I drank the '11 several nights ago and felt its intensity matched to '09. (897 views)
Tasted by cstir on 3/10/2014 & rated 91 points: Easy to drink on opening; soft tannins and modest spice; good complexity and finish. (1035 views)
Tasted by Anonymous on 3/4/2014 & rated 92 points: Well balanced, smooth, I wish I had more (1269 views)

2010 Turley Zinfandel Pesenti Vineyard

Winemaker's Notes: The big diurnal temperature shift in this vineyard on Paso Roble’s west side lends the wine a piercing acidity that can only be Pesenti. In turn, this acid serves to lift the spice, sweet berry fruits and white pepper aromatics into the stratosphere. On the palate it is classic Paso Zinfandel; softer, higher tones with well-balanced acid and tannin structure and unique tartness. Though a dry wine, the “juicy” elements give the impression of a light sweetness.
