Community Tasting Notes (average 84.5 pts. and median of 84 pts. in 5 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by trepak on 12/29/2016 & rated 87 points: Firm nose - quite restrained yet still typically Portuguese. Dark forest fruits and a hint of liquorice. Initially smooth on the palate, with a nice lick of tannin that rounds out nicely to a fairly good length finish. More dark fruits, blackberry, a little blueberry and prune, a touch heavy on the oak, and a bit more balancing acidity wouldn't go a miss. Overall, a pleasant wine with some interest, that's probably approaching it peak, drink within the next year or two. I just tend to enjoy a little more "wildness" in Portuguese wines. (870 views)
Tasted by Papies on 6/10/2014: By the glass at the BA Lounge, opened for some time we think.
Quite dark in colour with a youthful purple tint on the rim. Fresh on the nose, dark fruits, sweet, ripe core with smooth yep firm tannin on the finish. Feels designed to be enjoyed young and is already quite round. Lacks complexity. 87 drink now (2096 views)
Tasted by vespasian on 8/16/2012 & rated 83 points: Tasted 24 hours later

Nose has receded quite a bit - subtle floral notes now only; smooth, hardly any tannins though a bit simplistic and lacks depth. (3194 views)
Tasted by vespasian on 8/15/2012 & rated 85 points: Deep purple colour; Lovely bramble and herbal inflected fruits on the nose; smooth, quite straightforward Touriga on the palate. Not the most complex. Pleasant and well-made if a little overbearing on the finish. (3261 views)

Varietal character (Appellation America) | Wikipedia

Touriga Nacional is the foundation for many port wines. It's a hearty, thick-skinned red grape with moderate acidity, firm tannins, and black fruit character.
