| Community Tasting Notes (average 86.1 pts. and median of 86 pts. in 61 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by bdhanna on 4/20/2023 & rated 89 points: Still tasting good !! Composit cork easily removed after an over a decade in the bottle. Vibrant red color with excellent clarity. Consumed over three days. Surprisingly fruit forward blend of 35% Mourvedre, 24% Syrah, 23% Grenache and 18% Petite Sirah aged six months in oak. This wine is a California version of Cotes du Rhone with aromas and flavors of fresh raspberry, bright red cherry, red currant, and pepper. No more bottles of this vintage remaining in my cellar. (276 views) | | Tasted by SchlaepDog on 2/4/2019 & rated 75 points: Sweet syrup wine with no acidity. Past prime. (1418 views) | | Tasted by deschamp52 on 9/26/2014 & rated 85 points: Decent but fairly one-dimensional. Medium bodied. Little complexity. Expected more. (3783 views) | | Tasted by Mscruggs on 7/23/2014 & rated 87 points: I have typically liked this wine in most vintages. This bottle did not seem as well integrated with a slightly harsh edge. Gassed and plan to try on day 2 to see if this has softened. (3674 views) | | Tasted by wintergreen on 2/5/2014 & rated 85 points: nose: cherry, christmas punch
palate: sweet, fruit compote-y, peppery, with high acidity and very little depth. rustic tannins and long spicy finish not entirely enjoyable
tastes like 10 dollar rhone (4492 views) | | Tasted by Boosf on 10/20/2013 & rated 85 points: Fruity, smooth and supple mouth feel. Lingering finish and peppery. (5039 views) | | Tasted by Wineio on 10/13/2013 & rated 88 points: I like it, so smooth, cashmere. (4235 views) | | Tasted by Wineio on 8/14/2013 & rated 88 points: Smooth like its name. Soft to medium tannin. A bit of fruit, maybe grape? Best with a simpler meal, and not a high fat meat. (3106 views) | | Tasted by Merrit on 7/4/2013 & rated 86 points: Fruity and fresh. Nose of sweet strawberry, cherry and plum. Tastes like maraschino cherry, black cherry, plum, sage, nutmeg, chocolate and lots of smoke. I don't taste the oak that others mention. In fact, it reminded me of an unoaked grenache. It's very sweet, a touch too acidic and the alcohol taste is glaringly present, but chilling it brings it together nicely, gives it some balance and makes it rather refreshing. It's decent summer patio red, especially for the price. (3179 views) | | Tasted by rmh66 on 6/7/2013 & rated 82 points: Black cherry, chocolate covered cherries, blackberry, earth, herbs, smoke, and a little menthol (like a car previously owned by a smoker). Red and black cherries, earth, spice, blackberry, and herbs on the palate. Decent acidity, light but pleasant fruit on the front of the palate, slight "cheap wine" flavor, not much finish. Overall, this was decent, but personally I would prefer to spend a few more bucks to get a better Cline zinfandel. (2926 views) | | Tasted by HVille Wines on 5/12/2013 & rated 83 points: Mixed reviews first out of the bottle... some liked, some didn't... opened up shortly thereafter. Paired well with planked salmon. (2358 views) | | Tasted by OHWINEGUY on 3/28/2013 & rated 82 points: Light Strawberry nose with medium dry light body Plum and spice nice and mellow with just a little heat. Might make a decent summer red (2757 views) | | Tasted by austinbeeman- austinbeeman.com on 3/27/2013 & rated 88 points: Charred bread and black raspberry jelly.
$12.99 OH retail www.austinbeeman.com (2348 views) | | Tasted by boogeyone on 3/23/2013 & rated 87 points: Sweet strawberry and cherries, pleasant, lacks structure, drink it now. Prefer Grenacha to a blend. (2041 views) | | Tasted by Red Wine Johnny on 3/14/2013 & rated 88 points: My wife drank this bottle and rated it an 88; I have previously rated it twice at an 85. It's a "girly" wine, nice and easy to drink without a strong finish. (2086 views) | | Tasted by Twinkles on 3/9/2013 & rated 87 points: Obviously very fruity and light. Very refreshing. Will make a great summer red. (2033 views) | | Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 1/18/2013 & rated 86 points: Blind Tasting - New World Syrah and Red Blends; 1/17/2013-1/23/2013 (Woodley Park - Washington, DC): SRP: $17. Very bright and sweet on the nose, dominated by fresh berry fruit, a whole lot of rose petals and a hint of sage. Clearly new world sweet red fruit, but the other aspects make the nose interesting. Palate: really silky tannins, medium acid and the fruit is plush. The mixed berry fruit is really delicious and fresh, and it finishes with a soft note of toasted oak. It seems like more of a drink-me-now wine than the others, a real crowd-pleaser, but a well-made wine. A blend of mourvèdre, grenache and syrah. (2938 views) | | Tasted by JPL on 1/11/2013 & rated 86 points: Light and fruity. A bit unbalanced. Too hot. (2216 views) | | Tasted by Red Wine Johnny on 12/25/2012 & rated 85 points: Not into it as much as I used to be. (2274 views) | | Tasted by Red Wine Johnny on 12/20/2012 & rated 85 points: I used to think this was a nice blend, but it's just too light and easy for me. Nothing special. Cline Cellars should come out with a darker blend with Cabs or Zins. (2237 views) | | Tasted by Red Wine Johnny on 12/16/2012 & rated 87 points: Nice blend, light and easy to drink. (2347 views) | | Tasted by Kesslerc14 on 11/18/2012 & rated 89 points: Very enjoyable. Lots of berry and cocoa. Great Rhone blend at the price point. (2166 views) | | Tasted by Vino Me on 10/14/2012 & rated 84 points: Moderate fruit. Lacked intensity and felt a little disjointed. Some cocoa and berry notes. 84 points. A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce. USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson CaliforniaNapa Valley.http://www.stagecoachvineyard.com/vineyards/our_vineyards.php Santa Ynez.http://www.everyvine.com/org/Camp_Four/vineyard/Camp_Four/ |
