Tasted by johnnylaw1222 on 12/11/2019 & rated 86 points: Dark and inky, dominated by over-ripe, stewed dark fruit, without the backbone or acid to balance it out. Yet even the flabby, lushness of the wine isn’t enough to mask the heat of the 16% alcohol. (982 views)
Tasted by J Bitner on 8/17/2019 & rated 92 points: - Brick color. It's balanced with a medium/full body. Polished texture with a long finish. (931 views)
Tasted by Theamaronefan on 6/23/2019 & rated 88 points: A full bodied fruit bomb with blueberry, boysenberry and licorice. Great with barbecued meats. (954 views)

Tasted by wineshaman on 11/10/2017 & rated 91 points: Decated 30 min. Last taste 14 plus months ago, this far more subtle than I expected, still plenty of MD classic chrateristics but quite smooth, balanced with soft, silky black and blue fruits, some alcohol but in check, hints of cola on the slightly sweet finish. Very nice showing and no hurry to consume. (1319 views)
| Tasted by Bin707LoversDetroit on 11/6/2017 & rated 92 points: Silky, smooth, deep red, the breadth of the juice we called "girthy" it had a body and life to it that we had been exposed to from our experiences with (love of) Penfolds' Shiraz and blends. It was really balanced too, just the right degrees of fruit, alcohol, jamminess, and silk. A cohesive profile after some years in the cellar.
We were advised to try The Boxer years ago when we informed the store associate we were Penfolds Bin 389 fans and the store had none. She said we might like this. She probably had no idea we'd put it down for years, but boy was she right!!! And at this price, for one Bin 389 a buyer can pick up THREE Boxers!
Next time we see this on a shelf, we will buy it again and get to it six years from its bottle date, a perfect example of the cashmere difference between Shiraz and Cabernet...
We really liked this wine.
Wife says it needs a better name. Hubby says it's perfect because it beats up so many other inferior juices.

Tasted by wineshaman on 9/3/2016 & rated 89 points: All the usual MD traits, big, intense, rich, extracted, thick, concentrated, syrupy, sweet, need I say more. (1540 views)
Tasted by Jab_343434 on 7/9/2016 & rated 90 points: Drank with the blue eyed boy, and the carnival of love. Great wine particularly for the price point. Opened up well over the course of the night. Could use a 30 minute decant before drinking (1415 views)

Tasted by H2OMansLibrary on 12/6/2015 & rated 87 points: Very tasty. Has softened considerably. Could probably handle some more time in the bottle, but very nice and drinkable now. (1148 views)
Tasted by Craigbilodeau on 9/6/2015 & rated 89 points: Opens up hot and spicy but mellows as it spends time in the glass. Had a decent amount of sediment and needs to be poured through a strainer or over a candle. (1247 views)
Tasted by dsilver on 5/29/2015 & rated 84 points: Ripe fruity big hot mess. (1382 views)
Tasted by Altonplace on 3/20/2015 & rated 92 points: Not a Blue Eyed Boy or Carnival of Love, but the Boxer packs a mellow punch. (1481 views)

Tasted by Twinkles on 10/25/2014 & rated 89 points: Never delicate but oh so tasty. Actually, not as hot as previous years. Jammy pulling towards prunes. (2110 views)
| Tasted by Rezy13 on 8/9/2014: New World Blind Tasting Group $25+ (Bin 75): Very dark core with dull reddish purple rim; vanilla, blueberry, sweet nose, blackberry, alcohol; brandy warmth on the palate, alcohol burn, sweet liqueur, blue and black fruit, soft tannin; was on Coonawarra. | Tasted by CLOrta on 4/29/2014 & rated 91 points: Much better day 2 still needs age (211 views) |
Tasted by Nicholas81 on 4/25/2014 & rated 84 points: Decanted a half hour before consumption. Extremely over extracted. Cloying flavours of vanilla and coffee. Fruit was just too sweet and syrupy. (2127 views)
Tasted by S_stas on 3/12/2014 & rated 89 points: Molly Dooker shake, plus one night overnight and this was reasonable, as long as you're into this sort fruit-bomby-bomb. (2965 views)
Tasted by markandsusanw on 2/6/2014 & rated 85 points: Mollydooker Shake ... Seeing less to like about this wine as we try it more often. It's not bad, but it drinks more like a >$15 bottle than a $20+, to my mind. A few too many harsh notes. Always a bit better on day two ... But we only know that because it's one of those bottles that's not really good enough to want to finish it on day one. Wouldn't buy again. (2814 views)
Tasted by Nicholas81 on 2/5/2014 & rated 85 points: Did the Mollydooker shake. Much difference before and after.... Nose of intense berries and oak, palate very cloying and syrupy. Overly Sweet . Palate of berries and some vanilla. Just too syrupy, too sweet and too alcoholic at 15.5%. Finish was good though. In all fairness, a good wine for certain occasions and certain moods but I couldn't seem to enjoy it if i had more than a glass. Not really my style of wine. (1906 views)
