Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 89.5 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 9 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by StewartWent on 7/25/2014 & rated 88 points: Ok I get it! Don't drink the cab and shiraz within 5 - 6 years. Looking slightly subdued but almost certainly will get better. Mildly gamey, smooth tannin but always persistent. Good length and a triumph for the price point for fans of the subtle old world style. (680 views)
Tasted by Richard Jennings on 1/14/2014 & rated 92 points: Saturated very dark red violet color; baked black fruit, chocolate cake nose; tasty, medium bodied, roasted plum grilled black currant, baked black fruit, chocolate cake palate; medium-plus finish (389 views)
Tasted by KVM on 12/21/2013 & rated 89 points: Very dark red but not inky. Vanilla oak, smoke and blackberry jam. Medium body, with flavours like the aroma. This is energized by the acid and leaves a long finish and thin coat of grippy tannin on the teeth. (1186 views)
Tasted by Tarrant on 12/9/2013 & rated 88 points: Decent Shiraz, not as good as the last vintage but very solid nonetheless - Dark, full bodied with a nose of plum, blueberry, pepper and vanilla, decent structure and balance, simple, sweet on the palate with good length, nice (88 Points). (1150 views)
Tasted by startinoz on 7/26/2013 & rated 91 points: High acidity and very tannic. But lurking beneath is some nice black fruit. Cellaring potential at a great price. 91++ points. (1484 views)
Tasted by Avid Wino on 2/15/2013 & rated 89 points: Night two. Plum and mulberry, slightly stewed, with some spice and savoury undertones. Tongue coating tannins, albeit fairly gentle. Medium bodied. I remember liking it more the first night but didn't scribble the specifics. Now night three, at its best so far, not stewed, richer. Hey, maybe I'm the variable, not the wine? (1668 views)
Tasted by startinoz on 10/12/2012 & rated 91 points: Superb value! Great nose. Concentrated blackberry, plum and nice oak. Good length. You just can't ask for more at the price. And it cellars for a decade or two. (1318 views)
Tasted by graemeg on 9/22/2012: Tahbilk visit (Tahbilk winery): {screwcap, 13.5%, $A18} Young. Dark mulberries and plums. Restrained in the Tahbilk way. Palate is dense but not heavy, if that makes sense. Flavours all at the black end of the fruit spectrum. Some earth characters, but itís not dirty. Gentle dusty tannins. Medium, dry finish. Still rather tight; wants a few years to open up. Good to see the alcohol back under control from the 15% of a few years ago. (1036 views)
