Tasted by Ernestas on 4/5/2024 & rated 92 points: Fresh and vivacious Sangiovese based blend with 5% Canaiolo & 5% Colorino, aged for 2 years in Slavonian & FR oak barrels. Medium pale ruby garnet. Intense complex aroma of roses, cherries, tobacco, char, tar, spices, black tea, tree bark, medicinal hints. Medium body, bright and vibrant with slender elegant structure and concentrated fruity flavours tobacco hints with mild dustiness. Tannins are high, so is the acidity, still feels too wild and vibrant, will try to wait till 2030 before opening next bottle. (219 views)
Tasted by DK Amateur on 2/16/2024: From memory. This is really fine now. At opening, it shows a great cherry intensity with good acidity. Really elegant in the mouth. Lovely wine. (277 views)
Tasted by BoxerBee on 2/7/2024 & rated 96 points: Classic profile, with cherry, cranberry, orange, cinnamon, and fresh herbs. Extraordinarily intense and well proportioned. Lots of fruit, but balanced by excellent acidity and silky tannins. Long, moreish, and interesting, with real "personality". Should not have opened a single bottle until now, and yet this is, regretfully, my last one of a full case... Drink now - 2034. (321 views)
Tasted by AudunG on 10/29/2023 & rated 92 points: Delicious perfumed aromas with leather and some farmyard. Fresh, fruity and generous on the palate, but still elegant. (505 views)
Tasted by DK Amateur on 10/15/2022: At the end of a tasting: Just delicious and fine, drinking well. (1177 views)
Tasted by pigdaddy on 2/20/2022 & rated 92 points: double-decanted to travel, penultimate bottle from a case that has provided absolute pleasure throughout; great aromatics, elegant & expressive as always, with the tangy red candy acids that have always defined it; so sangiovese & so enjoyable.

not entirely sure why I bought it, but have a 3.0 litre also; I think that will be extra fun in 2 - 3, or more years.

pizza w/buttermilk blue cheese & san daniele prosciutto (1699 views)
Tasted by CADomer on 1/1/2022 & rated 92 points: Beautiful notes of crushed raspberries and savory mineral notes mix together to make this very nice. (1798 views)
Tasted by t_moderne on 6/11/2021: Tasted along with a 2010 Le Boncie Le Trame Chianti.
Did not take detailed notes while tasting but I recall this being light in color (ruby), elegant and quite floral. No sign of heavy oak.
Delicious. (1303 views)
Tasted by Annapolis on 2/27/2021 & rated 94 points: wish i had more. graceful, well balanced and showing right now. (2223 views)
Tasted by pigdaddy on 1/28/2021 & rated 92 points: as superb as the previous bottle, in the pocket right now.

fennel sausage pizza w/fennel & fior di latte (1790 views)
Tasted by peeks13 on 1/19/2021 & rated 91 points: I was wrong. My note in late 2018 said it was past prime and it clearly was not. Very nice aged sango, almost crossing over to secondary flavors, but still retaining fruit and acidity. Not particularly light as I had mentioned in 2018 note.

Who knew that 8 years after vintage was too soon but 10 years put it in a sweet spot? How could I have known this unless I had deep knowledge of producer's performance in an excellent vintage? Glad to be wrong. (1803 views)
Tasted by IJC on 11/13/2020: Enjoyable, drinking in a good spot.

Rated +1 on a scale of -1 to +3. (1684 views)
Tasted by pigdaddy on 8/21/2020 & rated 92 points: decanted one hour. brilliant clear ruby-garnet, slightly paler at the rim; wild cherry, subtly smokey, tanned leather, grilled herbs; refined & supple mouthfeel; ripe, dark sour cherries, juicy & intense without weight, wild herbs & mouth-watering restrained acidity, tannins subsumed & structure seems at a (hopefully lengthy) plateau.

superb pizza w/gorgonzola, prosciutto San Daniele, fresh figs picked this morning, arugula (1787 views)
Tasted by JohanPe on 12/23/2019 & rated 90 points: High quality cherries dominates the nose. Gravel road, herbs such as salvia, black tea, worn leather, liquorice. Needs air and delivers far more perfume after 2 hours compared to when opened. The palate is thinner and more about structure, sandy and drying tannins. Good acidity. Powerful structure which overpowers the fruit. My guess this is a bottle that underperformed, seems very uncharacteristic if it starts to fade already, especially in such a good vintage. (2041 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 10/24/2019: Funny, the first bottle that has really kinda done it to me. (2355 views)
Tasted by Nanda on 10/12/2019 & rated 92 points: Delicious and sublime with terrific textural precision. I'll say it again, a Burgundy-lovers idea of Sangiovese. (2105 views)
Tasted by Billy Swan on 9/5/2019: I'm sure you can find a Sangiovese out there "worth" more Parker points. But I'm not sure you can find one this lovely, this transparent, this ethereal, this pure or this seductive. Drinking this, only my good manners stopped me from getting up from my seat at the dinner table to perform a war dance. (2156 views)
Elegante e sussurrato, in perfetto stile Montevertine. (2049 views)
Tasted by cannym on 5/28/2019 & rated 88 points: This was perfectly decent but a little too elegant, or light, for me. At least on this showing. Cherries plus some earthiness. Plenty acidity. (1840 views)
Tasted by mattstolz11 on 4/19/2019 & rated 92 points: Delicious. Classic sangiovese, orange, flowers, hints of leather, and cherry. had it PnP on night one, got even better on night 2, and then was still good even after sitting corked in the fridge for a few days on night 5. hold or give this a good decant (1835 views)
Tasted by Ridgerunner on 3/27/2019 & rated 91 points: great tuscan table wine (1935 views)
Tasted by Ridgerunner on 3/25/2019 & rated 91 points: great Italian/Tuscan table wine (1877 views)
Tasted by nicefish on 2/25/2019 & rated 92 points: Drinking beautifully right now. (1951 views)
Tasted by Nanda on 1/13/2019 & rated 90 points: I ought to drink more of this as it's a really elegant and Burgundian expression of Sangio. Bright and lifted aromatics with loads of sour red cherry, florals and sweet earth. Refined and silky on the palate. More bright red cherry and floral notes. Not the most complex or intense, but an effortless and tasty wine on it's own and with food. (2151 views)
Tasted by peeks13 on 11/4/2018 & rated 90 points: Drank stand alone but this would have benefited with food. Not a Super Tuscan at all, as someone else alluded to...90% sangiovese, 5% canaiolo, 5% colorino.

Totally fine, lighter than I expected, probably should have drank a few years ago. (1891 views)

Sangiovese Blend

Sangiovese blend is used in CellarTracker for Italian wines to represent wines predominantly made of Sangiovese and blended with traditional Italian grapes. It is different than SuperTuscan which is a blend of Sangiovese with non-traditional (eg Bordeaux) varieties, often in closer to equal portions. For example, Chianti is at least 80% Sangiovese and will always be listed Sangiovese blend.
