Tasted by AlexB70 on 8/11/2023 & rated 92 points: Quite ready, but probably a few more years in this stage. Nose is light at first, nice evolution, still dark berries, no hint of vanilla, quite interesting. Initial mouthfeel pleasant, mouthfilling, round. But a little acrid aftertaste, after a few seconds, that just make the mouthfeel not as enjoyable. But overall, anyhow, very good. Drink now. 92-93! (241 views)

Tasted by AngelicWines on 7/9/2019 & rated 94 points: My final bottle, and drinking beautifully. Stewed fruit and floral notes of an aged wine starting to show up. Wish I had a couple more! (1572 views)
Tasted by sunshinejw on 12/18/2017 & rated 92 points: Absolutely gorgeous right now. Balanced, rich and bold. (2512 views)
Tasted by GDWine on 6/25/2017 & rated 93 points: Wow. This wine has really hit prime. Wonderful dark fruit nose with cherries and plums. Mouthfeel is rich like velvet. Dried cherries and a bit of pine. The balance is about perfect, if not just a bit soft. Finish is long and enjoyable. Glad I held this one. Can't see it getting better. (2860 views)
Tasted by Francois Le Mouel on 7/29/2016 & rated 93 points: I was really impressed by the quality of this wine. Old school in style, it's not your typical big jammy California style of Cabernet. Quite complex, with tobacco, spices and red berries aromas, this wine is currently in a perfect drinking window. Even though it has 14.5% alc/vol...you don't really feel it. Tannins are supple, wood (after 27 months!) is well integrated...really nice job...and currently a deal at $85, after I've seen Dominus 2012 for $331CDN...which is absolutely crazy. (3485 views)
(3973 views)
Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 7/13/2013 & rated 90 points: Tasting at Kenwood Winery (Kenwood, California): Smells jammy and rich on the nose, with sweet raspberries and plums. Really lovely nose. Full and packed with plum, cherry and fig compote. Silky tannins along with creamy vanilla and tempered toast. Rich but balanced, all that I love about Sonoma Cabernet. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.  Tasted by robbie00 on 4/26/2013 & rated 100 points: Delicious. Had it with our steak. This cab went down very easily. (3453 views)
Tasted by robbie00 on 3/18/2013: Very smooth and delicious. Easy to drink and enjoy. No after taste. (2845 views)
Tasted by AngelicWines on 3/10/2013: Oaky and tannic. Lovely with cheese, charcuterie and a little dark chocolate. (2370 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

Sonoma County

Mendocino County

Sonoma Valley

Sonoma County, California, is one of the most important winegrowing regions in the whole of the United States. Vines have been planted here since the 1850s and, apart from the inevitable hiatus brought about by Prohibition, the county's relationship with wine has been prolific and unbroken.

Viticulturally speaking, Sonoma County is divided into three distinct sections: Sonoma Valley, Northern Sonoma and Sonoma Coast. Each of these has its own AVA title and encompasses several sub-AVAs within its boundaries.
