| Community Tasting Notes (average 88.2 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 41 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by walkerjfw on 5/15/2015 & rated 90 points: At the PEF dinner at our house. Drank next to an Arnot Roberts Rose to compare styles - fun experiment to do, especially with non_rose drinkers.
Very different, this one split the crowd. Would say the Margui is the more elegant of the two wines, AR more fruit forward.
My prior notes hold: "nose of white flowers, citrus, ocean. Palate is elegant and fruity - light strawberry, peaches and grapefruit. Bright red fruits, nice acidity, lingering finish."
Crowd showed a preference for this over the AR (2347 views) | | Tasted by wmccone54 on 8/23/2014 & rated 87 points: A light, pleasant rose for a hot summer day. Notes consistent with my prior experience in Spring of 2013 and similar to the notes if others. Although thus was the best of the three bottle I've had, there is a slight bitter tinge that is very unappealing. Except for this, the wine was pretty good. (2471 views) | | Tasted by wgmccallum on 7/6/2014 & rated 90 points: Frosty pale salmon. Sea air and roses on the nose. Clean fresh berry citrus tones on the palate with a crisp acidic finish. Very nice cool summer wine. 55+12+16+7. [I know, this rating is so much higher than my previous ones. Interesting that the rating has changed but the description is almost identical. I didn't look at or remember the previous ones before writing this.] (2524 views) | | Tasted by walkerjfw on 6/6/2014 & rated 90 points: Dinner in the Provinces - Act 2 (Chez Walker - Princeton, NJ): Drank next to an Arnot Roberts Rose to compare styles. Very different, this one split the crowd. Would say the Margui is the more elegant of the two wines, AR more fruit forward.
My prior notes hold: nose of white flowers, citrus, ocean. Palate is elegant and fruity - light strawberry, peaches and grapefruit. Bright red fruits, nice acidity, lingering finish.
Very Provencal in style...the color sets this apart, a translucent light peach/salmon. I thought this was slightly better than the Arnot Roberts on this night (3182 views) | | Tasted by Easter Everywhere on 6/1/2014: great (1149 views) | | Tasted by walkerjfw on 5/4/2014 & rated 89 points: At home with broiled shrimp/prosciutto, pesto and red pepper rice...dinner was a hit. Had this as an aperitif.
Consistent with prior notes, nose of white flowers, citrus. Palate is elegant and fruity - light strawberry, peaches and grapefruit. Bright red fruits, nice acidity, lingering finish. If you like Provencal rose, this is a very nice wine. (1923 views) | | Tasted by wgmccallum on 4/28/2014 & rated 88 points: Sea air and roses on the nose, intense sweet fruit on the palate, a little lacking in acid on the mid-palate, kicks in with a nice refreshing finish. (1300 views) | | Tasted by wgmccallum on 3/6/2014 & rated 87 points: Very pale salmon pink. Very light nose. Soft and round on the tongue, with good back end tannin and a light finish. A bit too soft for my taste, could have done with a bit more acid bite. A pleasant drop nonetheless. (1621 views) | | Tasted by sjr on 3/5/2014 & rated 87 points: Medium-pale orange pink, glinted at the edges, clear; sweet nose of rainwater, ripe cantaloupe, perhaps the tiniest bit of cotton candy, pulled together with a bit of a lemony zip; medium-plus body, quite round, medium-ish acidity; more of the ripe melon, slightly herbal and astringent toward the back palate, not sugary, but has a pleasant gummy candy note in there too; unremarkable finish, but finishes up with acid.
This is a very nice rose, certainly not too astringent. It is not sweet as in sugary, but has some pleasantly sweet notes to it. There's no alcohol burn but you really feel the weight in the mouth. Decent acidity balances it out nicely. Would buy again. Drink before 2016. (1442 views) | | Tasted by Mythlogic on 12/31/2013 & rated 88 points: No notes. Finished the New Year with two bottles, dinner and the Family. Enjoyable and wish I had more. (1456 views) | | Tasted by Neurowine1 on 12/29/2013 & rated 84 points: From mag. Beautiful light peach/copper color, not too dissimilar from my beloved Tempier Bandol rose. Subtle nose of flowers, peach, white flowers. Delicate peachy and melon in the mouth. Crunchy, crisp acidity. Surprisingly lingering finish. This is not exactly a showstopper but works well with a crowd and is a nice match on the grill. (1276 views) | | Tasted by Poliosis on 12/25/2013 & rated 90 points: good, crisp dry rose. with food or on it's own. a good garagiste deal. would buy again. (1207 views) | | Tasted by btock on 8/16/2013 & rated 89 points: Brought this in magnum to a large gathering. Continue to enjoy this rose. Pale salmon color, the cinsault really sings in terms of backbone and juicy acidity. Great food wine. Will continue to pick up from garagiste. (1709 views) | | Tasted by UpfromtheCellar on 7/29/2013 & rated 90 points: Tasted several times over this summer. Nice. Consistent. (1726 views) | | Tasted by walkerjfw on 7/20/2013 & rated 88 points: Consistent with prior notes - really enjoyable Summer wine (1352 views) | | Tasted by garambler on 7/10/2013 & rated 88 points: We had this before dinner on 7/10/13. It had a fresh, light bouquet of strawberry, peach, anise, spice and mineral aromas. The palate was clean, fresh and dry with flavors of mineral, watermelon, strawberry and spice. (1299 views) | | Tasted by 3marinerfans on 7/7/2013 & rated 90 points: Light floral notes paired well w/ Summer night in Edmonds WA!(not much of a tasting note....) (1187 views) | | Tasted by oropeza on 7/7/2013 & rated 88 points: Floral nose. Cantelope and lemon in the mouth. Very dry. Nice Provencal rose. (1367 views) | | Tasted by BUBBA DAWG on 6/16/2013 & rated 90 points: extremely light salmon color with surprisingly prevalent legs....unripe strawberry and faint citrus gives way to white pepper and mineral nose...palate is a bit complex - faint strawberry, peach and oak...resist temptation to overchill...others have noticed astringency but there is nice acidity and a soft medium finish which only comes across if the wine in served 45-50 degrees...perfect summer wine (1257 views) | | Tasted by UpfromtheCellar on 6/2/2013 & rated 90 points: I loved this wine and I seldom like/drink/buy rose. Pale in color, this wine was both fruity and savory, light, lively and refreshing. Wonderful summer drinking. Delightful.
See most recent reviews for detailed descriptions. They nailed it although I think it deserves a higher rating. (1498 views) | | Tasted by wmccone54 on 6/1/2013 & rated 86 points: Comprised of 45% Cinsault, 45% Grenache, and 10% Vermentino. . As previously noted, the wine is a very light peach color. Aromatic nose of strawberries, peaches, white pepper, and some minerality. Light, dry mouthfeel that turns slightly astringent at the end of the finish. I was expecting more (1235 views) | | Tasted by garambler on 6/1/2013 & rated 88 points: This had a fresh, mild bouquet of strawberry, peach, mineral and spice aromas. The palate was clean and dry with flavors of mineral, watermelon, strawberry and spice. (1093 views) | | Tasted by walkerjfw on 5/26/2013 & rated 88 points: In Ocean City, Pre dinner. Always interested in trying new Rose at the start of the Summer.
Color on this is interesting, almost a translucent peach. Very faint pink. Nose was white flowers and citrus. Palate was smooth, medium acidity, drank after two days of Calif Roses which don't have the elegance (IMO) of the Provençal wines. light strawberry, peach, apricot, grapefruit. Medium acidity. Very nice rose. (1301 views) | | Tasted by garambler on 5/14/2013 & rated 86 points: I had this after work on 5/14/13. It had a light, subtle bouquet of strawberry, mineral and herbal aromas. The palate was fresh, light and dry with flavors of mineral, chalk and strawberry. (1364 views) | | Tasted by vanpe003 on 5/9/2013 & rated 85 points: Pop/pour on delivery. Relatively light overall weight but finishes with the a slight but distracting astringency. Perhaps this needs a few months to settle down.
