Tasted by finediningnyc on 12/24/2020 flawed bottle: Poxed. (1108 views)
Tasted by frenchiecagowine on 5/19/2020 & rated 92 points: This is no ordinary rose, made from Tibouren grape, partially aged sous voile in very old foudres, and one of the few Cru Classés in Provence. It’s always been one of my favorite rosés and I’ve read it was age worthy. Well, with 8 years of age, this rose doesn’t disappoint. It still sports that very unique amber/copper color, and wafts from the glass with blood orange and subtle oxidative notes. The palate is fresh, with blood orange and subtle pink grapefruit notes and a nutty flavor. It has weight lifted by a balance of acidity and a touch of bitterness that all combine beautifully. The texture is unlike any other rose and this definitely needs food. (1251 views)
Tasted by christyler on 9/10/2017 & rated 92 points: Solidifying its place as one of my favorite roses. I just love the oxidative edge, and the richness and complexity is a cut above other roses - even the high-priced Provencal ones. (2113 views)
Tasted by JVG on 9/4/2017: Fascinating color. Somewhere between copper, amber, and burnt orange—maybe garnet? Fascinating on the nose too, and difficult to pin down. In terms of fruit, there are aromas of blood orange, tangerine, and grapefruit, but also something a little more red, like underripe strawberry or raspberry. A little tropical note also, maybe guava or papaya. Then there’s a very strong rose-petal floral side, both fresh and dried. And some dried orange, as well. Sort of mesmerizing because it’s so aromatic and expressive but also so difficult to nail down. It all continues on the palate, which is just dynamite. The first impression I get is just “wow, that’s good,” while my brain tries to make sense of it. It’s got some body to it, and at first it seems pretty low acid, so that it gives a solid, almost sherry-like texture, but then the fruit starts to show up—the same unusual combination of citrus and tropical, fresh and dried—and then suddenly there’s acid. The finish is long and complex, with tart fruit, a nutty bite, some floral bitterness, a touch of alcohol, and sort of a reverberant energy that is hard to describe.

This is really, really good stuff. Both just in its quality and in it’s distinctiveness. I’ve never had anything quite like it. It’s definitely a wine to spend some time with. I’m sure some of the complexity has to do with its age, but never having had this before or anything similar, I can’t really say whether it should be drunk now or if it can keep improving. But I can tell you that if you do drink it now, you’re in for a treat.

EDIT: I forgot until I went back and looked at the bottle that this gets a year of aging under flor/veil. Which makes a lot of my impressions make a lot more sense. I guess it should have been obvious what was going on, but the effect of the flor is subtle compared to sherry, and it still has a lot of fruit and freshness, so combined with the effects of its age, it doesn’t shout about it.  Tasted by vindictive on 6/3/2016: a darker, weightier rose' needing some time to open. Blood orange is a good descriptor with more weight than most rose'. This is not the sort of wine you pop open in summer to enjoy immediately -the usual rose' bliss; rather, have it with the second course (something a little more substantial), when the sun is set and you can take more time with it. It develops nicely with time. Not sure how long you can age this style since it seems to be in a good place now. (2688 views)
Tasted by jviz on 12/12/2015 & rated 92 points: outstanding rose. My second bottle and it really delivers. I noticed more strawberry and blood orange fruit this time and it maintains an oxidized character. Beautiful color, unique profile that isn't out in left field and not a trace of flabbiness. Highly recommended (2318 views)
Tasted by portman63 on 8/16/2015 & rated 92 points: Give it 30 minutes to open and show the fruit, then just fantastic. Good dark rose color. Had with Paella and it was rich and full with great strawberry/raspberry fruit and a clean finish. (2246 views)
Tasted by jviz on 7/27/2015 & rated 92 points: Hyper-unique rose. Transparent coral. Not a lot to add to the notes below but I agree with notes of blood orange and rose water, a lot of minerality, a certain oxidized character, great overall balance and structure. Super interesting and delicious, will buy again (1706 views)
Tasted by Rollerball on 6/28/2015 & rated 90 points: A little edgier than most with floral minerals, pistachio, and funk. (1742 views)
Tasted by gotfunk on 3/21/2015: Can't add much to what others have said. Just a stunning rosé that paired perfectly with honey balsamic duck, roasted maitake, and a salad of blood orange, fennel, and cress. (1457 views)
Tasted by juffer on 1/30/2015 & rated 91 points: I served this in my wine course. Nose is fairly faint with mineral and slight strawberry. Light mouth. Outstanding finish. The finish is what makes this one of the better rose I've experienced. Dry herbal, mineral laden finish which lasts longer than I recall for any dry rose. (1378 views)
Tasted by Hazevedo on 1/9/2015 & rated 90 points: - Salmon color. (1197 views)
Tasted by SkeBum on 8/14/2014 & rated 92 points: First drank this wine off a wine list at a dinner out, and knew I needed some. In the glass it is salmon colored with different hues. The nose is flowers, sunshine and summer. The wine is put together by someone that knows exactly what they are doing, goes well with food. The levels of acid, tannins and fruit all working well with each other. This isn't a normal rose, actually one of the top 10 wines I have had this year, I could drink one with Thanksgiving dinner if need be. Going to buy a case in the morning. Lovely stuff. (1492 views)
Tasted by GrapeScott on 5/12/2014 & rated 92 points: This is lovely stuff, and a big notch above the already very nice "Tradition" bottling. A dark rose pink color with prominent sherry and biscuit notes on the nose upon initial opening (this probably from aging under "flor" for a year). A hint of oxidation like what you might find in a Jura white, but yet very lively with moderate acidity, medium to full body and a delicate fruitiness to go with some floral and mineral qualities. Overall a very nice and unique rosé that is best served on the warmer side and is a versatile accompaniment to all manners of cuisine. I liked it so much I picked up 6 more. (1667 views)
Tasted by Pknut on 5/10/2014: Pretty exceptional rosé. The first thing that one notices is the color, which is more than the typical pink/salmon rosé. This has hues of gold and it shimmers, which right away alerts the taster that something here is different and potentially more serious. Of this wine, I read the following, which I think is very apt: "Overall the wine was bright, vibrant and clean with a really interesting mix of fruit and salinity that kept me reaching for the glass. It was kind of like someone took a really fresh rosé wine and spiked it with a little bit of Fino Sherry." (Fringewine blog). I like the notes of rosewater with a bit of spicy orange and just a hint of oxidation that it makes it more complex; very dry in the mouth. 100% Tibouren, from 60 year old vines, aged on the lees under fleurette (surface yeast) for 1 year in 100-year-old foudres. Really interesting rosé, which I followed for three nights, with no degradation. (1543 views)
