Community Tasting Notes (average 87.3 pts. and median of 87 pts. in 8 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by boatman72 on 8/31/2019 & rated 88 points: Very Nice....Reminds me of a Sauvignon Blanc with a little more acid and minerality. Was better as it warmed a little. (1051 views)
Tasted by radiolysis on 8/18/2019: A little green apple and graprefruit. Perhaps even a little floral giving the hint of sweetness, but it's bone dry and nice and tart. I've never had this grape before, but it feels like it's a cross between a Chenin Blanc and a Reisling what with the acid character and the flowery taste. (1061 views)
Tasted by ChipGreen on 8/4/2019: On the nose; green table grapes, golden delicious apple and citrus zest. Also a slightly floral note.
On the palate; white peach, freshly picked pear, grapefruit and tangerine. Bright acidity and pronounced minerality.
Day 2: A little rounder on the nose. More of a ripe pear than freshly picked and stronger golden delicious apple than before. Less citrus on the nose than yesterday but more on the palate.
I am tasting some green apple. Also still getting grapefruit and tangerine. Kind of a “Sweet-Tart” wine but mostly tart - not really sweet. Overall sense of citrus on the palate.
Acidity has dropped just slightly. Minerality still in full effect but like the nose, the palate/mouthfeel is a little fuller and rounder now. Likely due to the 5 months elevage on the lies.
Not even close to being over the hill, this wine is aging very gracefully. (1164 views)
Tasted by rjquillin on 12/14/2014: Revisiting, could not drink this. Reminded me of '70's jug wine. DtD. (2658 views)
Tasted by Frogstachio on 10/8/2014 & rated 85 points: Didn't get near the exceptionally high bar set by the previous vintage. (1789 views)
Tasted by rjquillin on 3/23/2014: Pretty sure I had some Colombard in the 60's~70's from a jug. So far, this rather reminds me of those jugs; didn't like them then, or now.
Other notes hit close, but for me just not a pleasant bottle. I'll revisit. (2159 views)
Tasted by MiCat2011 on 3/21/2014 & rated 89 points: Tart, crisp, almost citrusy. After the first sip, all I wanted was another one. The bottle disappeared way too fast while doing dinner preparation. Loved it by itself and with the rich beef shanks I was preparing for dinner. (1519 views)
Tasted by Buck naked on 3/13/2014 & rated 87 points: First time drinking this grape. Nose has hints of wet stone and citrus. There is green apple on the tongue, and a distinct mineral taste, pleasantly so. It finishes with a nice acidic bite. Perfect for a warm summer afternoon or evening. (1260 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
