Tasted by quaffnov on 4/27/2019 & rated 90 points: Decant time of about two hours, this comes across in a more Loire Valley style than anything else, with green bell pepper standing out in the nose and palate. Silky tannins with a polished body and medium length finish, if you like savory wine this will be up your alley. (982 views)
Tasted by bjschmitt on 11/24/2017 flawed bottle: We have had 3 bottles of this wine previously, and found them to be very nice drinkers.
We opened this last bottle, and ran into smell of dill pickles (something new to us). The aroma carried through to the palate.
Googled the phenomenon, and it appears we ran into VA (Volatile Acidity) - whatever that is.
Bottle was flawed - no score. (1324 views)
Tasted by tastark on 7/30/2016: Really just great wine. Varietally correct. Not over oaked or over extracted. Only the tiniest hint of pyrazines. Love this wine. (1877 views)
Tasted by Rezy13 on 5/13/2016: Really surprised on this one, was expecting and oaky blueberry typical CA Cab Franc but this definitely shows true to the varietal, light color and extraction, nose screams green bell pepper, green tobacco, herbs, smoke, complex, only shades of juicy fruit; nice on the palate, good acid lift though still some structure, well integrated oak, longer fruit finish; were in the mood for Loire and reluctantly opened this much to our chagrin; highly recommend for anyone who likes Chilean reds.  Tasted by vin0vin0 on 10/25/2015 & rated 89 points: Really tasty Napa cab franc from Smith Wooton. Loads of ripe black cherry, a touch of rhubarb, some spice, mouth watering acidity and a fairly long finish. This went quite well with a crock pot roast. (2078 views)
Tasted by bjschmitt on 3/2/2015 & rated 91 points: With braised chicken, rice, and shitake mushrooms.

Clear ruby, substantial but inviting.
Lovely nose - layers of aroma (nutty, dried herb, mushroom).
Medium - medium/full body, very nice balance, acid and tannin giving a mouth-watering touch. Earthy, mushroomy quality. Very smooth. (1436 views)
Tasted by ghobby on 1/23/2014 & rated 90 points: Very nice wine; soft fruit, earth flavors (1441 views)

Cabernet Franc

Varietal character (Appellation America) | Wines & Vines article

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
