Tasted by Nahebub on 11/19/2022 & rated 95 points: großartiger Riesling, der sein Alter nicht scheuen muss und blind nicht als 18 jähriger Riesling erkannt werden würde. Hat guter Druck, eine gute länge. Sehr fokussiert und alles an seinem Platz. Tolles Erlebnis. (647 views)
Tasted by Invest on 1/8/2022 & rated 94 points: PnP, crumbly cork, 13,5% Alc., golden yellow color.

Nose: Deep, yellow fruit, freshness.

Palate: Signs of heaviness and concentration on the glass edge, yellow fruit, apricot, caramel, good freshness, harmonious natural acidity, good complexity and depth, although analytical dry sensorial the wine is more on the semi dry level. Nevertheless very delicious with a non-tiring flow. Still in a very good drinking window.

2004 is generally regarded as a very good, because it was a cooler vintage. This wine from K.P. Keller confirms this very well, where we had the 2007 Kirchspiel some months ago and enjoyed it less. Not unlikely, that 2021 could be an equally exciting year! (1167 views)
Tasted by NYC_Maenad on 10/31/2020: '04 Hubacher rocks! Wow. I usually start my notes with some basic info about temp and glassware, but couldn't stop myself in this case. Stunning, thrilling, and totally delicious. Jonathan and our guest went to the cellar for a reset bottle after some hefty Italian reds and came back with this. We decamped to the deck, where it was chilly but still sunny, and basked in the glow of this incredible bottle. Every evening should have such a Riesling Reset. I won't even try to throw out descriptors or comparison, as I didn't stop to think as I drank this - I was too busy feeling it, as goofy as that sounds. If angels drank wine, it might be something like this. Cliches spring to mind, like "poetry in a glass." Forgive me. The nose, the mouthfeel and the long, deep palate were enthralling. I think the wine wove a spell around us all, it was bewitching and enchanting, totally appropriate to Halloween, and so vibrant and warm, like a tiny fire. Normally I find I can't appreciate wine as much when I'm outside, but the notion that this might have been even better if we'd been indoors is a little tough to imagine. (1805 views)
Tasted by LW31 on 1/28/2020: Another great bottle of this. Hasn’t changed much from 4 years ago. Still remarkable balance and elegance. Perhaps a touch softer on finish. (1781 views)
Tasted by Jammy Wine on 9/7/2019 & rated 91 points: Keller is one of the best dry Riesling winemakers in the world, its Großes Gewächs is precise, intense and complex. Hubacker is the latest ripening vineyard in Keller’s portfolio, also their first estate vineyard since 1789. The 2004 Keller Hubacker Großes Gewächs was brilliantly energetic and youthful, flinty pear fruits, fresh. Medium bodied with fair amount of alcohol. Good intensity and structure with hints of petrol showing the cooler climate vintage characteristics. A superb Riesling. (91/100) (2116 views)
Tasted by SonnyChiba on 1/7/2018 & rated 95 points: Wow, this really hit me right again this time. Kept improving throughout the evening, so revisited at the end of dinner and was even better.
It’s got the depth in fruit, mineral, acidity, all in perfect harmony, and shows no sign of slowing down. (2387 views)
Tasted by aquacongas on 12/10/2017 & rated 93 points: Wine Monuments Man Chapter 3 (Berens am Kai 1 star Restaurant): Farbe goldgelb, auch Nase zunächst reif. Kein typischer Keller. 93-94 (2519 views)
Tasted by fcxj on 10/12/2017 & rated 92 points: Intense, rich and sweet. More akin to a Kabinett than Trocken to me, but much more concentration than expected. Most interesting Keller I've had. (2045 views)
Tasted by SonnyChiba on 6/4/2017 & rated 93 points: Excellent Riesling. Crisp, clean, so balanced, rich fruits, bright acidity. Everything you'd want. Still on the youthful side. Delicious now, no rush to drink, 93+ points. (1988 views)
Tasted by m_arcon on 5/27/2017 & rated 94 points: Keller Open Afterparty (Weingut Keller): The 2004 Hubacker is one of the better vintages from this little piece, the Keller family owned since a long, long time. Yellow stone fruit, citrus, peach and a certain kind of spices. Klaus-Peter Keller told me, that this comes from the short skin contact he did in this year. Phenolic, grasping with still a lively acidity, good finish and it will stay at this level for another 5-10 years imo. Definitely a very good bottle of Hubacker. (2524 views)
Tasted by winequant on 8/29/2016 & rated 95 points: If I had to describe the wine in one word, I would call it glacial. It had the typical Hubacker yellow fleshy fruit notes, but they came through as if they had been stretched super thin to reveal a mineral undercurrent. A superb bottle and only wish I had more. This is definitely in its ascent. Can't imagine that this does not improve even further with 5 years of age. (1801 views)
Tasted by Caruso on 1/9/2016 & rated 94 points: light gold, minerals, slate, chalk, all intermingled with peach, honey and citrus, esp. grapefruit. Good length and surely some years ahead of it, though there is no reason to wait. Great! (2062 views)
Tasted by LW31 on 10/8/2015 & rated 93 points: Excellent. In a perfect place right now with remarkable mint/herbal finish and lovely minerality. Restrained fruit. (2124 views)
Tasted by aquacongas on 2/1/2015 & rated 95 points: Great Dry Riesling Tasting of 42 best of the Best in Düsseldorf

9. Flight

more elegant than Kirchspiel 2004, but also more powerful, in the palate a hint too broad ti give a higher rating, good drinking window, but you feel the alcohol in the afterfinish, for me very enjoyable (2246 views)
Tasted by m_arcon on 9/5/2014 & rated 93 points: 2004 Riesling Großes Gewächs retrospective (Chris Home): Colour: Lighter in colour than Wittmanns Morstein.
Nose: Unripe white peaches, some grapefruit and a light phenolic component mixed with a great smokiness.
Palate: Very lush wine with even brighter shoulders than the Morstein. A lot of great sea salt on the mid-palate. Still potential left. Great acidity. (2242 views)
Tasted by Oh Dae-su on 9/5/2014 & rated 90 points: Asperg Grand Growth Riesling Cup (Asperg): Weingut Keller’s Dahlsheimer Hubacker GG Riesling 2004 from Rheinhessen showed a very vital bright yellow colour and plenty of particles. Its nose was overall very reserved and appeared surprisingly young. A lot of serious stone sniffing and green-yellow grapefruit action was going on. I liked the nose in its more shy and retreated style. The taste showed very ripe, almost a bit brown’ish, fruit flavours (at a very juvenile stage) with a hint more sweetness than most of the other Rieslings. Besides that it appeared rather bold and showed plenty of muscles and richness. But it’s richness wasn’t chubby or super fruitful. There was a lot of vital powerful pressure and strong limestone profoundness on my uvular. A real powerful crusher, I guess! In my opinion there is great substance and plenty of life ahead. The actual fruit flavours weren’t my favorite characteristics of this wine. Perhaps they need a bit more integration. Overall a very powerful, for me a bit too powerful, Grosses Gewächs Riesling. Anyway, a downright very decent Riesling. The group score was 92,0 points. My rating was 90 points. (2937 views)
Tasted by salil on 5/11/2009 & rated 94 points: Grüner and Riesling fireworks at Apiary (NYC): Incredibly pure and refreshing with a nose of flowers, rock dust and white fruits leading into flavours of grapefruit, minerals, cucumber and faint herbal elements in the mouth. Tremendous precision and clarity here with plenty of acidity and a mouthwatering, almost cooling finish that makes it seem so easy to drink. (3547 views)

Rockss and Fruit (1/25/2008)
(Keller Hubacker Grosses Gewachs) This was fantastic. Seemed to be more evolved than when I had it six months ago which was no problem for me as it was singing. Lovely sap and extract with a deep core of minerality and a super structure. The concentration was fantastic as was the purity and flavors of citrus fruits. Very fleshy but very lithe at the same time. The finish just went on and on. And no I did not time it.

#2014 Vintage Notes:
2014 Vintage Report by Terry Theise
2014 Vintage Report by Wine Spectator
"My gut still tells me the Saar (and to some extent) the Ruwer are better overall in 2014 than the more storied areas of the Mosel proper, but those that spent the requisite time living in their middle-Mosel vineyards made some of the most electric and "feathery" Riesling in a long time (maybe the finest in 20 years - yes, it's true!)" - Jon Rimmerman (Of course only a very short historical memory would call the Saar and Ruwer less 'storied' than the middle Mosel - jht)
