Tasted by kmicho on 1/29/2019 & rated 89 points: Fruit, oak, smooth, nice tannins, but mellow. Great balance. A really nice wine at this point. (1125 views)
Tasted by GSmitty4258 on 1/14/2019 & rated 90 points: Fruity and delicious. Tannins have mellowed nicely. Was uncertain about hanging on to this for so long but it paid off. Ran through the Venturi and was ready to enjoy. (1074 views)
Tasted by Lambcellar on 5/5/2018 & rated 94 points: Good tasting bottle. Decanted well (1527 views)
Tasted by DaveICT on 7/20/2017 & rated 91 points: Awesome depth and finish! Consumed this with a huge brisket we smoked. (2408 views)
Tasted by MateusPetrus on 7/19/2017 & rated 88 points: Great value. Drink now June 2017. (2375 views)
Tasted by MateusPetrus on 6/18/2017 & rated 89 points: Delicious, but drink this NOW (JUN-2017). It's peaking.

Oak and berries flavor is slowly giving way to the alcohol. Still wonderful, but will fade fast. (1758 views)
Tasted by MateusPetrus on 12/19/2016 & rated 92 points: Tasting note:
-Eat a small piece of chili chocolate (Blue's from Berkeley CA if you can find it), wait a minute, then sip this wine.
- Or drink it with lamb, or game.
- Or French onion soup.
- Or charcuterie, or...
This wine will enhance and magnify the experience. Trust me. (2571 views)
Tasted by ashikoh on 12/1/2016 & rated 87 points: Moderately opaque reddish purple in the glass. Raspberry, cranberry, and hints of vanilla on the nose. Feels relatively light and fruity on the palate despite 15% alcohol with mixed berries, medium acidity, little discernible tannin, and a spicy finish. Varietal Zinfandel with a bit of Petit Sirah. (2254 views)
Tasted by wine_454 on 11/5/2016: Beautiful jewel tone, nice deep color. Fruit forward nose with cherry, plum, and smoke. Like the smooth finish - delicious! Would drink again, for sure! (1523 views)
Tasted by louortiz330 on 3/29/2016: With Robin! (2591 views)
Tasted by bryon m on 3/6/2016 & rated 90 points: Drank at Grey Bear annual trip. The wine was in perfect condition. It was s soft well rounded wine. Good fruit flavors start to finish. Great value and nice with a steak (197 views)
Tasted by MateusPetrus on 1/20/2016 & rated 92 points: Always one of the best Zinfandel values around. Deep clear purple, little bit of oak on the nose, sweet and slightly tannic on the tongue. Fruity, berries I guess. Delicious!! (2757 views)
Tasted by pzinn on 11/15/2015 & rated 86 points: Good value Zinfandel, boysenberry and mixed berry flavors with cinnamon and tobacco leaf (2705 views)
Tasted by Patpiff on 10/30/2015 & rated 91 points: Clear, medium garnet. Moderate aromas with some age. Notes of strawberry, spice, raspberry, pepper, and signs of oaking.

Dry, relatively medium body which is a bit odd for a zin. Really, really prevalent and crisp acidity. Medium, dry tannins. Fairly well balanced, I appreciate the acidity but it's a bit much. Flavorful, red berries dominant, especially cherry and strawberry, plum, spicy pepper, vanilla, and smoke.

Quite boozy, 15%! Pretty good value. (2616 views)
Tasted by EMark on 9/29/2015: Plum colored in the glass. On the tongue there is an energetic brambly/blackberry hit. Fairly stiff tannin and acid mid-to-back palate. After a few sips I notice that with some cheese I am tasting more sweetness. I like this wine. At the price ($15) I think it is very nice to have with a simple meal. We’re going to have a pasta with sausages, tonight, and I don’t see any reason why this won’t be just fine. (1760 views)
Tasted by komacke on 9/29/2015: great daily drinker from Safeway (2646 views)
Tasted by Hodby on 9/23/2015 & rated 84 points: Medium-light red color. Strawberry-raspberry nose, some oak spice and bay leaf. Low tannin, medium acidity. On arrival, modest fruit and low concentration. Finishes with rhubarb compote. Seems built to not offend, but for $14 this is OK with me. (1535 views)
Tasted by jigones on 9/15/2015 & rated 86 points: There are much better Zins at this price point. Decant for a few hours or it will kick you hard. Once it opens up, the is a nice spice to it. (1060 views)
Tasted by aagrawal on 9/14/2015 & rated 86 points: Blind Tasting: Coravin 9/14/15: Medium ruby without bricking; nose has some ripe cherry, sweet spice, moderately aromatic but simple; palate is medium-full bodied, some sweet tannin, youthful, but approachable and soft, slight pepper, slight cinnamon spice, blend of red and black fruits, short finish. Very good for the price, balanced, and excellent grouping of fruit. 85-88 (1128 views)
Tasted by RajivAyyangar on 9/14/2015 & rated 85 points: Monday night blinds (SF): Blind:

Medium minus ruby, slight red at the rim.

Nose: Slight development, slight hints of toasty oak, very ripe cherry, ripe blackberry, bright red cranberry, blackberry jam. Slight black pepper.

Palate:
A touch of sweetness, possibly slight RS. <3g. Elevated alcohol - 14%. [actually 15%]

Medium plus body, elevated acid, light plush tannins. Light oak integration. Based on the lining of toast and vanilla/creme brulee, I'd guess 20% New French oak, or equivalent time in 1-3 years old barrels.

Possible styles:
Grenache-carignan blend from spain. Not old-world. Too clean.
Grenache from Australia - acid seems too high.
Zinfandel from US - consistent with millerandage, possible RS, thin-skinned, elevated alcohol, elevated acid, and oak usage. Tannins I'd expect to be a bit higher, but this seems in the realm of possibility.

I think this is relatively young - 2013. Zinfandel, Sonoma. Moderate quality. $40.

Actually: St Francis, 2012 Zin, Sonoma Coast, $19!
16 months in 100% French Oak of unspecified age. (1779 views)
Tasted by bterry3 on 7/4/2015 & rated 86 points: Ruth the Zin groupie says "drinkable with heavy fruit forward." (1198 views)
Tasted by bklynfoodie on 3/28/2015 & rated 87 points: Bold and fruity but not overripe or too jammy. Good everyday wine. (1379 views)
Tasted by CJM on 2/15/2015 & rated 79 points: Clear garnet. Clove, cherry, prune. High acids, medium tannins. Blackberry, boysenberry. Medium tannic finish. (1394 views)
Tasted by 4mentor on 1/2/2015 & rated 90 points: A big Zin with some structure, smooth tannins and mild fruit - blackberry jam. Cherry pie on the nose. Very approachable. (1489 views)
Tasted by reddart on 12/25/2014 & rated 90 points: Very nice, reminds me of a bigger 2009. Back on track, as I did not care fore the 2011 at all. (1732 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
